Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was front and center at Sony’s E3 Press Conference, and for good reason. Capcom is offering a short teaser demo of the game to PlayStation Plus subscribers now, and they’ve promised the game will be compatible with the PlayStation VR headset when it launches on January 24, 2017.
But don’t worry, the first-person horror game will also be released for the PC and Xbox One on the same day.
While Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is a complete overhaul of the franchise’s traditional trappings, its storyline will actually take place in the aftermath of Resident Evil 6. According to the Capcom-Unity blog, this mansion is actually a derelict plantation located in the rural south:
A horror story is only as frightening as its setting, and Resident Evil 7 pays tribute to the franchise’s origins on this front as well. Resident Evil 7 is set after the events of Resident Evil 6, taking place in modern day and revolving around a foreboding, derelict plantation mansion in rural America. Players must explore and survive the horrors within the mysterious, sprawling estate.
Players who pre-order Resident Evil 7 will receive access to the Survival Pack, a downloadable add-on which will instantly unlock the game’s hardest difficulty, as well as several in-game items.
