Super Mega Baseball 2 release delayed until Spring 2018
Break out your old Three Stooges and a handful of Walker Texas Ranger episodes, Metalhead Software announced that Super Mega Baseball 2 has been delayed.
Originally scheduled to launch for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in September, the developer confirmed there’s more work to be done on the game’s features (most importantly, the online multiplayer) to make sure they’re up to snuff. Super Mega Baseball 2 is now expected to launch sometime in Spring 2018, when people are thinking about baseball again.
However, this delay also means that Metalhead will have extra time to “work on small features and pieces of content that had previously been cut out of our scope” and host a beta test for the game.
In the meantime, the developer called up a new gameplay trailer for Super Mega Baseball 2 focusing on Lineup Management. It’s been embedded above.
Metalhead’s full statement about Super Mega Baseball 2’s delay can be found after the break. (more…)
Metalhead Software gives 110% in Super Mega Baseball 2’s “Customization Gameplay” Trailer
Baseball sims have made customizing players and teams a big part of the experience since the days of SNK’s Baseball Stars and Nintendo’s Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball. Metalhead Software plans to continue this tradition in Super Mega Baseball 2, and the developer released a brand new “Customization Gameplay” trailer today highlighting the many ways that players will be able to make the game their own.
Players can start by building their own leagues, specifying the total number of teams and the divisional alignment (though the entire process can also be automated). From there, they’ll be able to rename each team and redesign their logos (using a set of fully editable pre-made templates), as well as sketch out the uniforms.
Every aspect of each individual player can also be customized. Dozens of options are listed in the trailer, and players will be able to customize their physique, personality, gender, and how thick they like their Eye Black.
Super Mega Baseball 2 will be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Summer.

Super Mega Baseball 2 slides home on PC, PS4, Xbox One in 2017
Metalhead Software has announced plans to bring Super Mega Baseball 2 to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2017. In building the sequel to their well-received baseball sim, the developer has pledged to make Super Mega Baseball 2 even more realistic with new features:
- Revamped Graphics: Complete with enhanced character models, new and updated stadiums, and a modernized interface, Super Mega Baseball 2 has a fully rebuilt look that carries forward the personality and spirit of the original.
- Player and League Customization: Build the ultimate fantasy baseball league with full customization of your league, teams and players. Choose the number of teams in your league and customize each team’s logos and uniforms. Then dig deeper by customizing individual player stats and appearance.
- Online Co-Op and PvP Play: Play cooperatively or head-to-head with online multiplayer. Or take it offline and play couch co-op or solo. In cooperative modes, teammates alternate batting/running each time at-bat and alternate pitching/fielding each inning, challenging ballplayers to stay on their toes in every play.
- Refined Gameplay: Just like its predecessor, Super Mega Baseball 2 features solid controls, but this time around features more refined gameplay and a more realistic scale.
