Just 31 more days. That’s all that remains between the doldrums of August and the dam-breaking flood of new games coming this Fall. But that’s not to say that August doesn’t have a few important titles of its own. And the Warp Zoned staff is ready to dive into this month’s new releases and find those hidden gems (oh, and the juggernaut that is John Madden).

After playing the demo, I can say for sure that I am stoked for El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. It’s smooth, it’s quick, and it’s ludicrous, which is how I love my Biblical interpretations. Other than that, I’m excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which I wasn’t interested in until I got the chance to interview the Game Director Jean-Francois Dugas. Oh, and I’m slightly excited for one other thing… ok, I’m really excited about it. PAX!! I’ll be reporting to you as quickly as I can get the words from my SmartPen to your brains.

August is going to be another ketchup, er, ahem… “catch up” month for me. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked holds an interest for me as an eventual purchase, but only slightly moreso than Deus Ex: Human Revolution and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. I think I’ll stick to finishing up L.A. Noire, LittleBigPlanet 2, and some Borderlands online! (Hint: play Borderlands online with us!). This Fall is definitely going to sap my funds though, so maybe this is for the best.

Once the tasty price drop for the 3DS goes into effect, I’ll be the proud owner of an Ocarina of Time Machine. This means I’ll get to experience Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, which I’m excited for since I passed over the game’s first run on the DS. Other than that, there’s really not much on the horizon that has me drooling. I might give The Lord of the Rings: War in the North a try because I’m a sucker for Middle Earth goodness. While I’m at it, The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles might be an interesting way for me to sate my god simulator lust. As it stands, the summer doldrums seem to be continuing the gaming dry streak for me. I actually see this as a positive, as I’ll need the extra cash for the Q3 and Q4 juggernauts.

Tumbleweeds might be rolling across my console this month. Other than a vague curiosity in the acid trippy El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, the only other game on my radar is No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise. I’m hoping it is like The Transporter. Oh wait! There is hope for August yet! Deus Ex: Human Revolution is on the way. If it lives up to any of the trailers or hype, it will be awesome. I always wanted to be a cyborg.

I might buy Madden NFL 12. Otherwise, August is super weak.
