The magical day I’ve been waiting for is finally going to arrive! On March 11, TowerFall Ascension will be coming to the PlayStation 4. Matt Thorson himself wrote the PlayStation Blog post with the announcement.
In case you don’t know what TowerFall Ascension is (and seriously, if you don’t, where have you been?), it’s an incredibly competitive four-player versus game of archery. The graphics are retro, but the physics are not – you can arc your own arrows to catch an unsuspecting foe, as well as dodge and catch the arrows of enemies. Every second is crucial – you won’t even want to blink.
TowerFall originally came out for the Ouya as one of its big launch titles. It’s been revamped for the PS4, and now includes a a new Quest mode for one or two players. In this arena, you’ll have to fight against monsters that spawn from portals. It doesn’t sound as fun as multiplayer, but it’s something to do when you’re home alone.
TowerFall was in our PAXpocalypse list and was also mentioned twice in our end-of-year awards, the Golden Pixels. It’s one of the best local multiplayer games out there, and it’s the number one reason why you should go out and buy more DualShock 4s right now… or at least before March 11.
