About a month ago, CEO Andrew Wilson told investors that EA had reached a deal with Respawn Entertainment to bring a “new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide.” At the time, we had no idea if Wilson was talking about additional DLC expansions or a sequel, but a new rumor is pointing towards a sequel… with a twist.
According to The Wall Street Journal, pre-production on TitanFall 2 has already begun and, surprise surprise, it’s in the works for the Xbox One and PS4. The Journal cited “a person close to the development effort” as their source, though EA refused to comment. Perhaps that’s because the publisher is planning a TitanFall 2 announcement for their E3 Press Conference, which is scheduled to begin in a few hours.
This scenario is probably unlikely, but Respawn has said all along that TitanFall became an Xbox-exclusive solely because it would have been too difficult to put it on both new-generation consoles at the same time. And in the three months since it’s release, the game has gone on to sell more than a million copies, so a PS4 sequel is almost a guarantee at this point.
