It’s nearly the holiday season, and you know what that means – the big AAA games are coming out! We’re all excited for different reasons, though, and somehow none of those include Call of Duty. Read on to see what we hope to be playing this November!

We’re almost to the end of the year and it’s kind of amazing to step back and see just how small this Fall’s mountain of games is. Sure, there’s plenty of new releases planned from the big three and all the third party groups, but I find myself drawn to these smaller games more and more. Smaller games like Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, one of the unlikeliest sequels ever.
But that’s not to say the big stuff isn’t big for a reason. And Super Smash Bros. For Wii U is probably as big as the month of November will get. Just the very idea of seeing a Mario versus Link versus Pac-Man versus Mega Man versus Sonic battle is almost too much for my inner ten-year-old to handle. This kind of kitchen sink approach is probably why I’m really looking forward to Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham too. Conan O’Brien as himself as a sort of Mission Control and Kevin Smith as himself as a crazed Batman fanboy… yeah, I think I’m going to like it.
Oh, and Escape Dead Island looks interesting just because every game is better with weird hallucinations.

This month is all about two games for me: LittleBigPlanet 3 and Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby! After playing LittleBigPlanet 3 at PAX Prime, I couldn’t be more excited to get my hands on the game. And I got my hands on a copy of the special demo version of Pokemon, which is amazing. In the meantime, I’m just going to plug away at all the games I’ve started, and hope that the first half of the month goes by quickly!

So. Many. Games! My wallet is crying. I’ve been following Citizens of Earth since its failed Kickstarter campaign, and will probably pick it up on the Wii U, as the GamePad is ideally suited for the top-down RPG. Two Assassin’s Creed games are coming out! Thankfully, I have yet to buy a PS4, so I’ll be limited to purchasing Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, although the voice acting sounds like a crime against Ireland. Ubisoft is spoiling us with Far Cry 4 as well. I loved Far Cry 3 until my save corrupted, but I have always meant to go back to it. Assuming I do, I’ll pick up the next installment at some point. I am also slightly curious about Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. After so many failed attempts at making a great Sonic game, I like the fact that this title has been given some creative freedom. Hopefully removing the shackles of the past will allow Big Red Button Entertainment to create something more in the spirit of Sonic.

Looks like it’ll be the opposite for me. November is kind of a quiet month for releases that I’m interested in.
But towards the end of the month I’ll definitely be picking up Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. As fun as the 3DS version is, the Wii U outing will be that much better. Because, you know, eight-player battles and stuff. It’ll fill the void left by the no-longer-airing MST3K 30-hour Thanksgiving marathon. The next-gen version of WWE 2K15 is also catching my eye, what with the realistic graphics and all. Also, I’ve heard good things about The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Since it’s a PlayStation Plus freebie in November, I guess I really don’t have a choice, do I?
