The original PlayStation launched 20 years ago, and to honor it, Sony has revealed a special 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 console. It’s completely grey, with a matching grey controller, and has that old-school four-color PlayStation logo on it. Each one also has a special plate on it denoting what number it is – there are only 12,300 being made globally, and you’ll get to see which one you have by looking at the aluminum plate on the front of the console. It also comes with a vertical stand and a grey PlayStation Camera.
Pre-orders for the PS4 20th Anniversary Edition will begin on Saturday, December 6th, during the PlayStation Experience. Sony will be giving more information about the pre-order during their keynote starting at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time). Hit the jump to see the unboxing video Sid Shuman did, where he gets to see the console for the first time.
I’m not going to lie… if I didn’t buy the PlayStation 4 at launch, I would be all over this console. I can’t justify spending another $400, but oh how I wish I could.
