The shapes are taking over the Nintendo eShop this week! And I’m not talking about Michael Myers…
Berzerk Studio brought Just Shapes and Beats to the Switch today, and the shapely side-scrolling anti-shooter asks players to survive its bullet-hell-like levels with up to three friends while grooving to a nice selection of beats. Also available to download for the Switch today is West of Loathing, the humorous “stick figure” RPG from Asymmetric.
Using a 16-bit palette, Fox N Forests is also now available to download for the Switch, and players will need to employ seasonally-powered magic spells to save the forest. And on June 5 comes Happy Birthdays, an updated version of Birthdays the Beginning, the new sandbox game from the creator of Harvest Moon, Yasuhiro Wada.
Finally, Nintendo wanted to remind everyone that players can still experience the action RPG antics of the cube-shaped Pokemon from Pokemon Quest, which was added to the Switch eShop this part Tuesday.
Over on the 3DS, Nintendo’s handheld is now home to Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, the new Castlevania-like side-scroller from Koji Igarashi and developer Inti Creates.

Just Shapes & Beats – Just Shapes & Beats is a chaotic co-op musical bullet-hell based on three simple things: avoid Shapes, move to the rad Beats, and die, repeatedly. It’s a new spin on SHMUPs, adding a layer of co-op that’s at the core of the game: ’cause everything is better with friends. Hits like a ton of bricks straight into your eardrums and your eyeballs; BAM!
West of Loathing – West of Loathing is a single-player slapstick comedy adventure role-playing game set in the Wild West of the Kingdom of Loathing universe. Traverse snake-infested gulches, punch skeletons wearing cowboy hats, grapple with demon cows and investigate a wide variety of disgusting spittoons. Explore a vast open world and encounter a colorful cast of characters, some of whom are good, many of whom are bad, and a few of whom are ugly.
Ninja Combat – Ninja Combat is an action game released in 1990 by SNK. In order to defeat the evil ninja clan KAGE ICHIZOKU, justice-seeking ninjas head towards the NINJA TOWER. Enjoy battling with a wide array of weapons and ninja magic as well as the ability for a friend to join the action.
Defoliation – The young characters and the old woman, who met through an unfortunate accident, may not have had a good start, but they eventually open up and the youngsters end up visiting the woman at her house as friends. One day, when they are headed to the old woman’s house as usual, they are suddenly hit by paramnesia. When they wake up, the woman’s house looks different to what they knew.
