Katamari Damacy, Journey creators developing Wattam for PS4
Keita Takahashi and Robin Hunicke are collaborating on a new game, as you can see in the trailer above. It’s called Wattam, which “is actually composed of the Tamil and Japanese words for ‘making a circle’ or ‘making a loop,'” according to the PlayStation Blog. Takahashi is best known as the creator of the much-beloved Katamari franchise while Hunicke was a producer for Journey at thatgamecompany, and is now the co-founder of Funomena.
The little guy in the trailer is a character known as the mayor of the world. Hunicke said they’ll be introducing players to more characters throughout 2015. She also gave some background on Wattam: “The idea for this game came from when Keita was playing with his two-year old son, and wondered about what if all toys lived, and connected by themselves? It would be such a fun world to explore and play with! The word ‘Wattam’ itself The initial prototype for this game was made by Keita and his friend Vikram, who are from these two cultures respectively, and this new word acknowledges one of the game’s core inspirations: making connections between different types of things.”
Hunicke also mentioned this in the comments: “Also, Keita and I will host a panel this afternoon here at PSX. We will be talking about some of the inspirations behind his work – hope to see some of you there!” Hopefully some of you got to check it out!

Borderlands: Pre-Sequel DLC expansion The Holodome Onslaught available on December 16
Gearbox has announced the “second batch of add-on content” for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It’s called the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught, and it will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on December 16. It will also up the level cap to 60, and additionally, all players will get a free update that will allow Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, what fans of the franchise will recognize as the third playthrough.
The Holodome Onslaught add-on pack, which is the second of four included in the Season Pass, will cost $9.99 on its own. It features “all-new narrative content including appearances from veteran Vault Hunters Gaige and Axton, who recently returned to the Crimson Raiders HQ.” As Athena narrates, players will make their way through The Holodome Onslaught, which will include new enemies and familiar faces. There will also be new weapons, class mods, head mods, and skins.
The first add-on pack was a new playable character, the Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack. The third is expected be another player character, the Baroness, while the fourth promises to (finally) be a substantial new campaign expansion. There’s no scheduled release date on the other two packs yet.
Halo: Spartan Strike now scheduled for early 2015 release
Halo: Spartan Strike has been delayed to early 2015 from its original December 12 release date, according to the Halo Waypoint blog. Bravo from 343 Industries said that the delay is due to the developer’s desire to fix the matchmaking issues in Halo: The Master Chief Collection:
“While we’re excited about this all-new Halo experience, our commitment to resolving the current matchmaking issues in Halo: The Master Chief Collection remains the top priority. As a result, we have decided to move the release of Halo: Spartan Strike to early 2015.”
Halo: Spartan Strike was announced earlier this year as a “touch-based top-down shooter.” It is currently scheduled to be released for Steam, Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8. The game might make its way to consoles in the future as the first game in the series, Halo: Spartan Assault, was also released for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
