Daily Scoop: September 13, 2016 – Huge sale happening at Humble Store

I’m sad that The Last Guardian was delayed again, but relieved because it was originally going to launch the same week as Titanfall 2. That was going to be a really tough decision, but now I don’t have to make it! So that’s one good thing about the delay.

But hey, let’s get into some deals! There are over 3,000 games on sale at the Humble Store right now! Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is $17.99, Tabletop Simulator is $9.99, Rocket League is $14.99, and the Humble Deluxe Edition of This War of Mine is $4.99, among many others.

The Midweek Madness at Steam is early access to Space Pirate Trainer, which you can get for just $11.24. The Daily Deal is the Atari Vault, a game that is loaded with 100 Atari Classics for the low price of $7.99. That’s eight cents per game!

Daily Scoop: September 12, 2016 – Last day for Humble Sierra Bundle

I spent the weekend mostly sleeping, relaxing, and playing games! The game I put the most time into was probably Hyper Light Drifter, which I’ve been tearing through. It reminds me so much of Fez, with the strangeness of the lore, the thrill of adventure, and the sheer loneliness of some of the scenery. And, of course, the fact that Disasterpeace does the soundtrack adds to that as well. It’s been such a wonderful journey and I’m glad there are more secrets left to find.

Let’s get to today’s deals! There’s less than a day left to get the Humble Sierra Bundle. Pay $1 or more for Space Quest Collection, Phantasmagoria 1-2, Police Quest Collection, and Shiftlings. Beat the average to unlock Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, TimeShift, Quest for Glory 1-5, and Gabriel Knight 1-3. Pay $15 or more to unlock Caesar 3-4, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved, King’s Quest Collection, and Velocity 2X. Finally, pay $20 to unlock King’s Quest: The Complete Collection. Whew. That’s a lot of games!

Over at Steam, there are 382 new Weeklong Deals. Blood and Bacon is $0.89, Riff Racer – Race Your Music! is $3.99, Cannon Brawl is $4.94, and Pixeluvo is $15.74, among many others. The Daily Deal is Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, which is just $6.79.

metaarcade-header

PAX West 2016 was full of innovation, creativity, and, of course, fun. One of the best intersections of these three assets was at the MetaArcade booth, where they were demoing Tunnels & Trolls: Naked Doom.

“Wow, Nicole. What exactly is Tunnels & Trolls: Naked Doom?” you might be asking yourself right now. Let me start by explaining a little more about MetaArcade and their vision for the future of text adventures. (more…)

Well, I cancelled all my plans for the weekend, and now I’m hopefully going to have time to get some work done – but also, and probably more importantly, I’m hoping I can take some time to relax. It’s been a whirlwind of action lately, and I need some down time to recouperate!

Speaking of recouperation, what better what to do that than with some video games? To make things even better, the Humble Store is having an End of Summer sale. Get my favorite, Fallout 4, for just $29.99, as well as XCOM 2 for $32.99, the Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack for $12.49, and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin for $13.59.

The Weekend Deal at Steam is This War of Mine, which is on sale for $4.99. The Little Ones DLC is also on sale for $7.49. The Daily Deal at Steam is Jotun: Valhalla Edition, which is $7.49 for the game and $4.99 for the soundtrack.

Just Shapes & Beats tentatively scheduled for January 2017 release

Berzerk Studios’ Just Shapes & Beats was in the Indie MEGABOOTH at PAX West, and I got a chance to get destroyed by that incredibly addictive game. You’re Shapes, and you’re trying to evade bullets and lasers and other Shapes, and you’re doing it all to the Beat of some amazing chiptunes – in this case, the beats were by Danimal Cannon. I had a chance to ask the developers a few questions while I was getting wrecked, and they said that the game could be coming out as soon as January 2017.

Wondering how the game plays? Think the frenetic, can-I-blink insanity of Super Hexagon, but as a bullet hell that is full of neon and the best chiptunes. That’s Just Shapes & Beats. If that sounds like it’s for you, then be on the lookout for this to be released in January on PC.
