Capcom announces new Strider game for current, next-gen consoles, PC

Capcom announced today at Comic-Con that they are bringing one of their classic franchises, Strider, back to consoles. The franchise, which hasn’t seen a new entry since Strider 2 released for the original PlayStation in 2000 (unless you count his appearance in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, will be released on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One in early 2014. This new entry is in development at Double Helix Games, the same company behind Microsoft’s Killer Instinct reboot.

Judging by the trailer, the new Strider appears to retain the classic 2D feel, albeit with a fresh coat of HD paint. Enjoy!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Review: No Place Like Home

animalcrossingnewleaf-header

Let me get a little personal before this review begins. My regular, full-time job is that of an automobile claims adjuster. My day consists of assisting people whose lives have been turned upside-down by getting into automobile accidents. People react to these situations very differently, and at times I have no choice but to be a punching bag for some. The job, as expected, gets stressful. Hell, even the great Daniel Day-Lewis couldn’t handle what I do. A few times during the summer, I will take a Friday off and spend a long weekend at my parents’ lake house in Indiana. During those weekends, I fish, go on boat rides, watch a horror movie or two, and relax. Come Monday, my batteries are recharged and I’m ready to take on the claims.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is my video game lake house. (more…)

e313-sonypressconference

Well, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, just dropped the bomb. The PlayStation 4 will release this holiday season for $399.99 (or £349 in the UK or €399 in Europe).

That sound you here is Phil Harrison’s jaw hitting the ground. Oh, you also heard the crowd at the Sony Press Conference go absolutely bonkers. No joke, there was Arsenio Hall-style woofing.

Get those pre-orders ready, gamers. The next generation starts in five months (give or take).

Sony @ E3 13: Mad Max game announced for PS4

e313-sonypressconference

A very gritty trailer for a new Mad Max game for the PS4 was shown during Sony’s conference today. Not much was shown, but I’m sure we can expect open-world, Borderlands-esque gameplay.

The game will be developed by Avalanche Studios, confirming rumors that we’ve been hearing for quite a while now.
