Kingdom Hearts 3 will take us into the world of Tangled

Sora’s adventures through the Magic Kingdom (and beyond) are about to get a little hairy. Today, Square Enix released a new gameplay video for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III. The video shows multiple battle scenes with Sora and his companions Donald and Goofy, and also features a familiar-looking tower in the background. Eagle-eyed Disney fans may immediately recognize it as being from Tangled, Disney’s retelling of the Rapunzel story.

A release date has yet to be officially announced for the PS4 and Xbox One game, so stay tuned for more information. Until then, enjoy the E3 2015 trailer.

Sony @ E3 2015: Four titles from Devolver Digital shine on PS4 and Vita

A video was shown during Sony’s E3 Press Conference showcasing a foursome of games from Devolver Digital for the PS4 and Vita, and they immediately caught my attention.

  • Ronin is a 2D action game starring a sword-wielding ninja. The game looks to be similar to Guacamelee! and Shank.
  • Eitr is an isometric action-adventure RPG. The dungeon crawler also features a very retro appearance.
  • The two that really looked good to me were Mother Russia Bleeds and Crossing Souls. Both titles have a distinctive Streets of Rage-style look, with the former being hyper-violent amd almost Splatterhouse-like in appearance. I’m not sure what to expect with Crossing Souls, but the animation interludes looked liked the classic Don Bluth games Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair.

More on these four will be revealed at a later date.

Sony @ E3 2015: Shenmue III announced… and a Kickstarter campaign has been launched

Hot off the heels of the Final Fantasy VII remake, another highly-requested title, Shenmue III, was just announced at Sony’s E3 Press Conference! However, Shenmue III needs your help. In order to create the game for the PC and PS4, a Kickstarter campaign has been set up by Director Yu Suzuki. If the game is funded, then we’ll all be able to continue Ryo’s journey from the first two Shenmue games.

Something tells me funding won’t be a problem…

Sony @ E3 2015: A Final Fantasy VII remake is in the works (and World of Final Fantasy too)

Two trailers were shown during Sony’s Press Conference that should be of interest to Final Fantasy fans, the first of which is for World of Final Fantasy. The game features a chibi aesthetic, and famous characters from the franchise will make cameos. More information will be revealed at a later date, but what we do know is that World of Final Fantasy will hit PlayStation 4 and PS Vita sometime in 2016.

The second announcement is one that fans have been dying for… a real remake of the PSone classic, Final Fantasy VII! After all these years, the oft-requested remake of arguably the best Final Fantasy title had the crowd in an absolute uproar and Producer Yoshinori Kitase, Director Tetsuya Nomura, and Scenario Writer Kazushige Nojima will all return to oversee the project at Square Enix. Aside from tremendously-improved graphics, we don’t know that much about the remake. Though the trailer did say it was coming “first” to the PS4, implying a PC or Xbox One release is possible. It’s also unknown what this means for the re-release of the original version of Final Fantasy VII that was announced last year. But I’m sure more than a few people would say, who cares?

More information on both titles as it becomes available. And you can find the World of Final Fantasy trailer after the break. (more…)

Sony @ E3 2015: Media Molecule’s Dreams announced

Media Molecule (the creators of LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway) has announced Dreams. Using the PS4 controller as a paintbrush, players will create their own surreal scene and bring it to life using performance capture. A video was shown of user-created dreams, ranging from a polar bear and her cub playing in the snow, to a futuristic car chase, to an adorable teddy bear laying waste to a horde of zombies.

Media Molecule showed a similar demo at the PS4’s initial reveal two years ago, but at the time, they considered the tech demo something of an experiment. I guess it’s a real game now.

A release window was not given, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Sony @ E3 2015: No Man’s Sky got a live gameplay demo tonight

More footage from the much-anticipated No Man’s Sky from Hello Games was shown during Sony’s E3 Press Conference tonight. A live demo was played on-stage by developer Sean Murray, showing the sheer scale of the game. The demo showed a single solar system, zooming out to reveal hundreds, if not thousands, of solar systems that are available for exploration. When you discover a new planet (“a planet-sized planet,” Murray noted), you can upload your discoveries to a beacon for the world to see.

No release date was announced, but this is still one to watch as Hello Games has previously said No Man’s Sky would be available for the PS4 in 2015.

Sony @ E3 2015: The new Hitman game will be known simply as Hitman

The next game announced at Sony’s Press Conference was a brand-new game in the Hitman franchise from IO Interactive!

Simply titled Hitman, not much was shown other than a CGI trailer (embedded above), but the game was said to feature a “live, ever-expanding world.” This could potentially mean a more MMORPG-like experience or possibly an episodic one.

A PS4 beta will be available to those who pre-order the title, which is enough to get this gamer hyped! Hitman will be available on the PS4 only through the PlayStation Store, with a release date scheduled for December 8. The game will also be released for PC and “other consoles,” but PS4 players will have access to six exclusive contracts.

More information on Hitman will likely emerge during tomorrow’s Square Enix Press Conference.
