Warpback: What We Played in June 2014
Here at Warp Zoned, we really enjoyed E3, so much so that we recorded a whole podcast about it. It really invigorated us to get gaming, and we played a ton this month. Some of us played some new games, like Mario Kart 8 and Shovel Knight, but mostly we just kept digging away at our backlogs (Get it? Digging? Shovel?). We laughed, we cried, we played some online multiplayer, and most of all, we documented it all so you could hear about it. Read on to find out what the Warp Zoned crew played in June. (more…)
Continue Countdown #6 – The E3 2014 Super Show
With the 2014 E3 Expo a (not so) distant memory, the Warp Zoned staff got together to record a double-length “E3 2014 Super Show” of the Continue Countdown. This rapid fire show covered hundreds of titles including Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Sunset Overdrive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Mortal Kombat X, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Bloodborne, No Man’s Sky, Super Smash Bros. 4, The Legend of Zelda Wii U, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and a whole lot more. And if you missed any of our E3 2014 coverage, you can catch up with all of it right here.

There Are 400 Video Games In This 2014/2015 (and Beyond) Release Calendar
We were introduced (and in some cases, re-introduced) to a huge variety of games at the 2014 E3 Expo. So with that pioneer spirit in mind, the Warp Zoned staff compiled this list of 400 video games that are scheduled to be released between July 1, 2014 and the far, far future. We can’t promise that this calendar includes every game currently in production right now (in fact, we’re sure it doesn’t), but that doesn’t mean we can’t all pore over what’s next and get giddy at what this Fall, next year, and beyond will hold. Continue Countdown #5 – Mortal Kombat X, Forza Horizon 2, Pre-E3 Predictions, More
It’s the most wonderful time of the year as the 2014 E3 Expo is right around the corner. The Warp Zoned staff spent a recent night chatting about some of the big pre-E3 announcements during the latest episode of “Continue Countdown.” We pre-pre-judged Mortal Kombat X, Homefront: The Revolution, Forza Horizon 2, BattleCry, Battlefield Hardline, and Hyrule Warriors in the first six segments of the show.
But we also wanted to worry and fret over a trio of delayed games (Batman: Arkham Knight, The Order: 1886, and Quantum Break) as well as speculate about what a Smash Bros.-style Mario Kart game would be like (spoiler alert: it would be AWESOME). And the eternal question (How much would you pay for an E.T. cartridge excavated from a landfill?) was answered.
Finally, we slipped a few E3 predictions in there. We’re probably way off the mark, but it’s that magical pre-E3 time when anything seems possible.

The Games of June 2014
It doesn’t seem like there’s much getting us excited this June. Well, of course, we’re all pretty excited about E3, but other than that, we’ll likely be tackling our backlogs! Read on to find out what games have sparked the interest of the Warp Zoned staff this month. (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in May 2014
An absolutely gorgeous month of May, among other things, kept the gaming time of the Warp Zoned staff to a minimum recently. But they still got in a little screen time before the insanity of the upcoming E3 Expo. So read on to see who was playing Watch Dogs, who was playing Mario Kart 8, and who was digging into their backlog. (more…)
Continue Countdown #4 – Xbox One Ditches Kinect, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, More
Nicole Kline dominated everyone in this episode of “Continue Countdown.” You’ll hear plenty of her big opinions as she, and the rest of the Warp Zoned staff, sat down to discuss Microsoft’s decision to unbundle the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One, Sunset Overdrive‘s less-than-impressive initial trailer, and Halo 5‘s delay.
From there we moved on to the possibility that Wolfenstein: The New Order could spark a resurgence in Doom-style first person shooters (consensus: maybe), what Naughty Dog is working on next (consensus: probably something brand new), and whether or not Dragon Quest X will appeal to an overseas audience (consensus: probably not). The home stretch of this week’s episode asked what we’d like to see from Darksiders III and Rockstar’s next-generation project.
Finally, the episode concluded with the echoing cries of “Why?” as the “Continue Countdown” crew talked about 3D Realms’ Bombshell.

Continue Countdown #3 – CoD Advanced Warfare, MS @ E3 2014, Mario Kart 8, More
The film industry uses the opening of blockbuster season to signify the start of Summer. Meanwhile, the video game industry sets its seasonal clock by Activision and the announcement of the next Call of Duty game. This year’s entry stars Kevin Spacey and the staff of Warp Zoned took the time to debate his inclusion in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in the latest episode of “Continue Countdown.”
After that, the trio of Editor-In-Chief John Scalzo, Staff Writer Mike Ryan, and special guest Adam Woolcott talked about the expunging of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, and the unearthing of Atari’s E.T. landfill. Next, they examined Microsoft’s Xbox Originals film production plan and their possible E3 2014 announcements before turning to Nintendo and Fatal Frame 5‘s Japanese exclusivity, Mario Kart 8‘s free game deal, and Super Smash Bros. 4‘s Best Buy debut. Finally, we say goodbye to Bob “Mario Mario” Hoskins.
