Daily Scoop: May 22, 2017 – Big savings on new games at Newegg today
Welcome to yet another edition of the Scoop, where I am still here subbing in for Nicole. Still. I know, I know – but I’m getting better, right? We last heard from Nicole last week in a bizarre email, but since then she has gone dark. We’ve decided to put some feelers out there to look for her, and have heard from a local guide who she consulted at a travel agency in Brazil. When we asked around to guides and agents and described her a little bit, this particular guide said, “Yes, of course! The tiny American with a suitcase full of Funko Pops!” So we’re positive this was a legitimate Nicole sighting. Unfortunately, the guide was unable to tell us where she was headed, but it is encouraging that he did see her. Fingers crossed we get some news soon! For now, let’s occupy ourselves with sales.
GOG.com has a “Role-Playing Week Sale” happening this week with up to 85% off a large number of titles, including System Shock: Enhanced Edition and System Shock 2 for $1.49 each. Other games on deep discount include Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, available for $2.49 apiece.
At Newegg, there’s a 30% off sale on select video games and accessories when you use the promo code “EMCRFCC23.” Games included in this sale are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U, Super Bomberman R for the Switch, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard for the PS4 and Xbox One, Street Fighter V for PS4, and Dishonored 2 for Xbox One.
Over at Steam are a couple of indie favorites on sale this week… “Weeklong Deal” readers can save 30% on Thumper and 65% on Nidhogg.
Just a couple of Humble Store reminders today. There’s less than 24 hours left on the “TinyBuild Bundle,” so get crackin’. Also, Humble Store‘s huge Spring Sale mega-thon-stravaganza ends May 25th at 1:00 PM Eastern Time – that’s this Thursday! Don’t forget! A couple of the most popular titles I saw today in the sale were Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain at 60% off, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with 75% off, and half off of Dark Souls III: Deluxe Edition. But there are tons more games, so check ’em out!
Just a couple of shirts going on today. (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 19, 2017 – Humble Indie Bundle 18 is now available
Hey there, Scoopites! There hasn’t been a lot going on, plus I’ve not been feeling well, so there wasn’t a Scoop for a couple of days. But, I come back bearing Nicole news! We received a cryptic email from an untraceable account that we assume is from her, that is somewhat disconcerting.
It reads…
We were not the first evolved creatures on the planet. Our gods and mythologies were not the first either. The jungle speaks to those who listen, and I have learned things from sources I cannot name, for even if I tried you would think me insane. Sometimes I think I have gone mad. I must leave this damp, overgrown place.
The fading light is playing tricks on my eyes, and the dimly lit trees echo the obelisks of long ago ruins, ruins that plague my restless, horror-filled sleep. I fear I know too much to stay and yet not enough to come home. I cannot tell you where I am headed to for answers, nor may I be able to contact you again for some time, for your safety and mine. I hope to meet again on the other side of this journey, though you may not recognize who I have become. Send ramen, they will know how to get it to me.
So… Not really what we were expecting, but we continue to wish her well.
Some new games have been added to the Humble Store’s “Spring Sale” extravaganza, so be on the lookout for 75% off the Life Is Strange Complete Season, 60% off of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and 50% off of Table Simulator. You can also get 50% off a large batch of Activision games including Call of Duty: World At War, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and a Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Bundle. And don’t forget, this mega-sale ends May 25th!
There is also a new Humble Bundle, the “Humble Indie Bundle 18,” which will be ongoing for about the next 11 days. As part of the “Pay What You Want” tier, they are offering Ziggurat, Windward, and SteamWorld Heist. Beat the average to add Kentucky Route Zero (Season Pass Edition), Beholder, Goat Simulator: GOATY (incuding all DLCs), and a mystery game to be announced in several days. Pay $13+ and you can also get Owlboy. Bonuses include the soundtracks to Kentucky Route Zero and Owlboy.
Steam has some “Weekend Deals” going on so prepare yourselves for 50% off of games from the Call of Duty Franchise, as well as 70% off of Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. And take 75% off The Wolf Among Us as their “Daily Deal” which ends Saturday.
Four great shirts today, so let’s jump right into them. (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 16, 2017 – Big Backwards Compatibility Sale at the Xbox Games Store
Hey folks! So I am still here subbing in for the distinguished Ms. Kline. I’m starting to get a bit more used to it, but alas, not so for everyone. New reader mail today, and as I have no fresh news on Nicole, I will share it.
“Dear Scoop Sub, you are a disgrace to the English language! Many a Scoop I have read where you ended sentences with prepositions! I won’t stand for it! Mayhap you should better learn your grammar rules besides. Love, Ethel.”
Dear Ethel, I understand your concern, but may I point out that you, too, ended a sentence with a preposition? Thanks for writing in. And now, the sales.

Daily Scoop: May 15, 2017 – Humble TinyBuild Bundle is now available
Happy Monday! Sorry, that’s an oxymoron if ever there was one, amirite? Anyway, I’m exhausted so there won’t be much of a preamble today. Something something generic weather comment blah blah Nicole is gone yada yada games. Lots of shirts today, so get ready to slap down a sawbuck and a half for some groovy threads — oh man, I’m really confusing my generational lingos right now.
Looks like a great Bundle of Humbleness this week at the Humble Store with the “TinyBuild Bundle“! Pay what you want for the entire Bundle, but as long as you pay more than $15, it’ll include Divide By Sheep, Road to Ballhalla, No Time to Explain Remastered, Speedrunners, Party Hard, The Final Station (plus The Only Traitor expansion), ClusterTruck, Guts and Glory (Early Access), Punch Club Deluxe, and finally, Streets of Rogue (Early Access). Whew, that was a lot! Oh wait — there is also a pre-order for Hello Neighbor at the $39.99+ level, plus all the bonuses! There’s also a totally free Party Hard 2 Alpha that you might want to look into if you’re still itching for more games, so check it all out in the Humble Store!
Just a reminder that there’s also still one day left to pick Humble Bundle’s the “Very Positive Bundle,” so check that out before it’s gone. And another reminder that the Humble Store’s “Spring Sale” is going on until May 25th — tons of games to be had at some great discounts!
There’s also tons of amazing shirts today after the break! (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 11, 2017 – Humble Store’s Spring Sale and Pokemon shirts
Good Thursday, y’all! Not a lot of sales at different places today, but lots of games at Humble and several Pokemon shirts! You know you’ve been using Twitter too much when you accidentally hashtag words in regular writing. Not that I tried to do that with the word “Pokemon” at all. Nope. I know what I’m doing. Okay, no I don’t. I never do. But I’m so good at faking it! Wait, no I’m not. Never mind. No Nicole news today, so let’s get to why we’re all here!
The Humble Store is my saving grace today, because otherwise I’d have nothing to share. Thankfully, they have tons of good deals! Let’s start with Dungeons 2 because it is free for the next day and a half! Yes, totally free. Crazy!
The rest of these are all part of their Spring Sale, which stretches on until May 25th! News to me is that there is a game called Prison Architect, and while that may not be news to you, its 75%-off-ness at Humble might be! Other seventy-five-per-centers include Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Rogue Legacy, and Tales of Zestiria.
Next up are the 50% off games, which are Doom, Dark Souls III, Dishonored 2, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition, Darkest Dungeon, Fallout 4, The Witness, Grim Dawn, and something called Hacky Zack… which looks adorable.
And here’s the rest (kind of like in Gilligan’s Island before people realized the Professor and Mary Ann were the best ones): Stardew Valley is 20% off, Rocket League is 30% off, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is 33% off as is Elite: Dangerous, Starbound is 34% off, and Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair is for some reason specifically 37% off. Other games with varying discounts include Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens at 40% off and Dying Light: The Following at 60% off, as is 7 Days to Die. God Eater 2: Rage Burst is 66% off and, finally, a Darkiders Franchise Pack is 80% off.
Lots and lots today! And the Humble Store main page has even more deals for their Spring Sale! (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 10, 2017 – Alien and Assassin’s Creed in today’s sales
It’s time for madness! Er, midweek madness not general madness. I can’t condone that, though I understand it. Is there such a thing as Cold Madness, readers? Because I probably have that. It reached 50 degrees today, but I know it will go back down into the low 40s or even 30s tonight. And it is indeed maddening. At this rate, it won’t be warm until it’s time to get cold again in the Fall.
I envy Nicole’s mysterious trip to the tropics, because though a tad bizarre at least it’s warm (even though ironically they’re in their Autumn now, I think, and yet it’s still much warmer than here). Anyway, what was I supposed to be doing? Oh yes! Shirts ‘n sales. Let’s do it.
The Midweek Madness at Steam has some good discounts like Offworld Trading Company for 75% off and Worms WMD for 50% off. Also at Steam, fans of Alien: Isolation can get it, the Season Pass, and the DLCs (The Trigger, Lost Contact, Safe Haven) each for 75% off! And ending on Friday, Axiom Verge is on sale for $9.99. Meanwhile, Stellaris, Stellaris: Nova Edition, and Stellaris: Galaxy Edition are on sale until May 14th for 40% off, and for today only, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI and Civilization VI: Digital Deluxe are 33% off.
This week at the Xbox Games Store, Xbox Gold members can get Mass Effect: Andromeda for 35% and the Deluxe Edition for 40% off. Tom Clancy’s The Division and The Division – Gold Edition are each 60% off. And a few Saints Row titles are on sale including Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, and a Saints Row/Metro Double Pack for 75-80% off. And finally, available to everyone, get a “Resident Evil Game and Movie Bundle” including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and a code for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter for 33% off. There’s also a Deluxe Edition Bundle with extra content for 33% off, too.
There’s something for Tom Clancy fans over in the PlayStation Store, with several PS4 titles from 25-60% off. Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate are all 60% off, but be sure to check out the other Assassin’s Creed titles on sale as well. Also save 60% on Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal, or purchase them bundled together for 50% off. And get 60% off Watch Dogs and its Season Pass, and 65% off Rayman Legends.
Phew, that was a lot. I need to rest now. See shirts after the break! (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 8, 2017 – Very Positive Bundle now available at Humble Bundle
Hey Scoopers! Hope your weekend was awesome! It keeps raining here like some tropical jungle, except instead of tropical it’s like 40 degrees. So fun. Speaking of tropical jungles, we received a telegram from Nicole!
In case you missed any Scoops, she has been on assignment in the Amazon and some odd occurrences have taken place whilst she has been down there. Not to mention the fact that we still don’t know who sent her on this expedition and to what end. But this telegram is the first piece of news from her since her weird postcard! I, for one, am thrilled she has not been torn apart by piranhas. The telegram reads:
DURING FIELD WORK FOUND TREE FROGS STOP
THEY SEEM TO BE WISE BEYOND THEIR YEARS AS IF THEY ARE EONS OLD STOP
HAVING LOVELY TIME SINCE IT STOPPED RAINING BLOOD DO NOT WORRY STOP
SEND OOLONG STOP
Lots to deal with today, so let’s sail on! Ha, get it? Sorry.
There’s some Amazon sales today, with ReCore for $14.70 and Mass Effect: Andromeda for $39.99. Amazon Prime subscribers will also be able to pick up The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition for $29.99.
There’s a new Humble Bundle this week, the “Very Positive Bundle,” which includes a bunch of colorful games: Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings, The Deadly Tower of Monsters, They Bleed Pixels, Hacknet, Crashlands, UnderRail, Stephen’s Sausage Roll, and Curious Expedition. There’s also a couple bonuses including the soundtracks to Deadly Tower of Monsters and UnderRail. So check out your options and grab some games!
Steam has some great Weeklong Deals starting today. They have a bunch of Red Faction games on sale, including Red Faction, Read Faction II, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Red Faction: Armageddon, and Armageddon’s Path to War expansion for 75% off of each. Also 75% off each are the Armageddon and Guerilla Soundtracks. And the Red Faction Complete Bundle is 80% off!
Steam also has Rogue Stormers for $3.49, Mutant Mudds Deluxe for $0.99, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved for $7.49, Homefront: The Revolution for $9.99, and the award-winning Quadrilateral Cowboy for 20% off.
Just a few shirts today, so let’s go! (more…)
Daily Scoop: May 4, 2017 – Star Wars Day means more Star Wars sales and shirts
A very happy Star Wars Day to you all! On this day, I would like to remind everyone that while the epic Star Wars saga is great entertainment, its message about standing up to tyrants has never been more important. We may not be legitimate Jedi in the magic powers sense, but we believe in justice and democracy and a oneness with the universe that allows us to feel empathy and connection to each other and to the planet we currently reside on. And for our Yang, there is a Yin. The Sith are real and we must never forget that. Let’s not allow liberty to die with thunderous applause. We may be entering a dark time, but we have hope. And rebellions are built on hope.
Now onto the sales, because what’s a holiday without buying things?
So, of course, every store has Star Wars sales like crazy today, and we’ll start with Best Buy. They have several Star Wars-related items on sale, but specific to our needs are the games. Star Wars: Battlefront – Ultimate Edition for both PS4 and Xbox One are $19.99 today only – that’s 50% off!
At GOG.com, they’ve got an “Everything Star Wars” sale with up to 75% off, which will last for the next week. Some of the titles include Star Wars: Battlefront II, Star Wars: Empire at War – Gold Pack, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Star Wars: Jedi Knight – Jedi Academy. Go see what else they have!
And in case you missed yesterday’s Scoop, there were mad Star Wars sales mentioned that are ongoing until the beginning of next week, so take a look!
In non-Star Wars games, the Nintendo eShop has some deals for My Nintendo members which includes 40% off of the following games: Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition (3DS), Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (Wii U), and Street Fighter Alpha 2 (3DS).
And now for the shirts! As you can imagine, it’s mostly Star Wars shirts saturating the marketplace today, so I’ll give you a couple of my favorites of those as well as two bona fide video game tees. (more…)
