Kickstart This! The Gruesome Chocolate Death Edition

By the time you read this, I will be dead. It will have been a gruesome death, as I am buried under an avalanche of Easter eggs. Death by chocolate, if you will. Like Christ, it will take me three days to rise again, carrying the weight of my guilt in my stomach. So before I get so fat that I can’t reach my keyboard, let us turn our attention to the games and projects you could help fund in April and May.

This month, we have the mesmerising and beautiful adventure puzzler Source, 2D hedonistic shooter Shots in the Dark, isometric RPG detective thriller Pixel Noir, sci-fi planet conquering RTS Hextraction, a returning Kickstarter project in the Lovecraftian 2D adventure game Mark of the Old Ones, and last but not least, sci-fi noir adventure Last Life.

Nom, nom, nom… (more…)

The PAXpocalypse List: The Best of PAX East 2014

paxeast2014-bestof-header

PAX East 2014 was a different type of show than in years past. Some big publishers, such as Nintendo, skipped the show completely, while others, like Microsoft, only brought a handful of unreleased games. This shift in the show floor allowed the indies to take center stage, and the majority of our PAX East 2014 PAXpocalypse List reflects this year’s status quo. But that’s not to say the big publishers skipped PAX East 2014 altogether. Towering displays from 2K, Bethesda, and Ubisoft dominated the exhibition hall map, and we definitely had some fun with a few games that will demand your time during this Summer and Fall.

So if we were cut off from the outside and trapped within the walls of PAX East 2014, which games would we return to over and over again? Well… (more…)

The Games of April 2014

gamesofapril2014-header

April is finally upon us, and with it, hopefully some better weather! But that doesn’t matter for the Warp Zoned crew – that is, unless we’re playing our handhelds outside. It’s also nearly time for PAX East, which has us pretty excited! Read on to find out what else we’re looking forward to now that Spring has sprung. (more…)

Warpback: What We Played in March 2014

whatweplayed-0314-header

We were busy little gamers in March here at Warp Zoned. We spent plenty of time in South Park, used lots of amazing new powers in InFamous: Second Son, got ready for our Titan in TitanFall, and even snuck around a bit in Thief. We also dipped into some of our favorite older games as well, keeping ourselves – and our thumbs – busy as always. Read on to see the complete list of everything we played this last month! (more…)

Kickstart This! The Guinness Aftermath Edition

While most of Ireland went about their business as usual on March 17th, many parts of the world decided to paint themselves green and drink several pints of the black stuff to commemorate the man who drove the snakes from the Emerald Isle. It doesn’t matter that these people are not really Irish, that St. Patrick probably didn’t drive out the snakes (as there were no snakes to begin with), or that the saint’s real colour is blue. The true meaning of St. Paddy’s Day is less about the man and his legend, and more about the celebration and enjoyment of life.

So, with our Guinness hangovers having well and truly dissipated for another year, let us turn our attentions to the viper pit that is Kickstarter, plucking some worthy cobras and prize-winning pythons from the wriggling mess. Hot on the heels of Goat Simulator‘s launch comes a campaign for Bear Simulator. Next is pixel exploration adventure Spirit, followed by 2D point-and-click game Dead Synchronicity. Things get very serious in 2D interactive novel The Seed, before we enter the fantasy realm of Chaos Reborn. Last, but not least, is the beautiful and ambitious turn-based RPG Earthlock: Festival of Magic.

Remember, a snake is for life, not just for St. Paddy’s Day. (more…)

10 Actresses We Think Could Play Elena Fisher in the Uncharted Movie

unchartedmovie-elena-top

Recently, we looked at who could play Nathan Drake and his fatherly cohort in crime, Victor “Sully” Sullivan, in the upcoming film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise. However, their Indiana Jones-esque adventures would not be complete without American journalist Elena Fisher there to film their antics, get kidnapped, and break Nate’s heart. But which Hollywood darling could play the part and woo one of gaming’s most lovable rogues? We have picked ten actresses that we think best fits the part. (more…)

It Came From 200X! The InFamous Series

itcamefrom200x-infamous-header

With the much-heralded arrival of InFamous: Second Son, we thought the franchise’s first two (and a half) entries deserved one more day in the spotlight. Sucker Punch Productions first introduced the world to Cole McGrath and the Ray Sphere in 2009. But how did the franchises’s beginnings prepare us for one of the most anticipated titles of the new console generation? (more…)
