The Games of December 2012
There’s not too much to look forward to in December – unless, that is, you want some free time to catch up on your backlog! And with the holiday break coming up, it seems that’s what we here at Warp Zoned will be doing. Unless you just bought a Wii U that is. (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in November 2012
November was spent playing some older games, ranging from Resident Evil 2 to Zombie Driver HD. And some of us – no names mentioned – are still playing Borderlands 2. Read on to find out more of what we did in November! (more…)
Speed of Sound: The Music of Sonic the Hedgehog
Let’s pretend the year is roughly 2000. It’s Sonic’s tenth anniversary. It’s his first real debut into the third dimension. The game is Sonic Adventure. It will be heralded as a general success. It will set some major tropes for the future of the 3D series to come, though it’s a bit of an oddity. At worst, it will later be looked back upon as “good for its time.” You advance through the levels – suddenly you’re on Speed Highway. The dark of a city forever trapped in the night – highways impossibly bent and stretched along the sides of buildings, through the air. Clear signs of construction that is, considering the landscape, entirely unfinished. This, gamer, is your music. (more…)
The Pinball Arcade: An Interview With Community Manager Rob Mann
In February of this year, FarSight Studios released The Pinball Arcade, their most ambitious pinball simulation game yet. For those unaware, The Pinball Arcade is a collection of real-world pinball tables, painstakingly digitized to the smallest detail and available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and mobile devices. Every month since release, new tables have been added as DLC. And, as a major accomplishment, licensed tables such as “The Twilight Zone” and “Harley-Davidson” were obtained with a little help from the game’s dedicated fan base. Just this past Tuesday, “Elvira and the Party Monsters” and “No Good Gofers” were added to the PlayStation store
As a diehard pinball fan, and a fan of FarSight’s pinball offerings in general, I was eager to learn more about The Pinball Arcade. Therefore, I recently chatted with FarSight Studios User Community Manager Rob Mann to inquire about The Pinball Arcade’s present, and what we can look forward to in the future. (more…)

November seems to mostly just be about Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which is overshadowing even the release of the Wii U. Here at Warp Zoned, we have some people dedicated to Nintendo enough to be early adopters. But all in all, it looks like the crew will be testing the waters and, as always, dipping into their backlogs. Read on to find out more of what we plan on doing this November! (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in October 2012
Well, it’s been an exciting month for Warp Zoned! It looks like we’ve been splitting our time between old games, new games, and all the game we can possibly download. The two big winners seem to be Borderlands 2 and Zombie Driver HD. But there was also some bug killing, some Pokemon collecting, and some compulsive building as well. Hit the jump to find out how a trio of Warp Zoned staffers spent their gaming time during this lovely month. (more…)
Kickstart This! The Fourth Dimension
For the fourth edition of Kickstart This! I thought I would shake things up a bit and expand the scope of our critical gaze to encompass more than just game projects seeking your support. To that end we turn our eyes toward the enhanced Evil Controllers for Xbox 360, webseries My Life as a Video Game, and also a campaign to help keep the TD Gaming Podcast on the airwaves (or bandwidth).
However, never fear, we have also examined some excellent new games in development that need your backing. There is top-down arena combat title Forced, Risk-esque conquest game Ninja Army, futuristic racer Distance, and last, but by no means least, the gorgeous cutesy world of MaK.
Money at the ready. (more…)
