The Games of October 2012
There are some good games coming out this month, and we here at Warp Zoned are excited about a few of them. Some of us are clinging to Borderlands 2, though – spending as much time fighting our way through the game as possible. What can I say? Handsome Jack is just that despicable. Read on to find out what might pull us away from Pandora as we figure out what we want to play in October. (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in September 2012
September was an awesome month for gamers, mostly thanks to the long-awaited release of Borderlands 2. But that’s not all we were playing here at Warp Zoned! Double Dragon: Neon was also a favorite, as well as some mobile games and other gems. Read on to find out why the ninth month of the year gave us so much joy! (more…)
Kickstart This! Horror Edition
In our third installment of Kickstart This! we’re preparing for Halloween a bit early. Many of these titles have a certain horror flavour to them, including Monsters, a 2D shooter with a story provided by our very own Nicole Kline. Other titles featured are grid-based tactical game Pangenic, psychological puzzle game Broken, romantic adventure Zombie Cruise, and Worlds Beyond, an RPG about the end of the world. And let’s not forget side-scrolling beat-em-up Crisis Heart Brawlers: Clash at Otakon. It has nothing to do with horror. It’s just awesome. And needs your money!
Let us begin. (more…)
The Games of September 2012
It seems like a trip to Pandora is in the cards for most of the Warp Zoned staff, with the exception of our intrepid Editor-in-Chief. But I think we’ll be playing enough Borderlands 2 for him as well. There are plenty of good games coming out this month: from Kirby to the Lee twins, from the Family Guy cast to a boatload of Pandas, this month has something for everyone, and more than we could conceivably finish in four weeks. Read on to find out what we’ll be playing this busy September. (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in August 2012
The Summer (and the long game drought that went with it) has finally come to an end. So it was mostly a month of backlog cleanup for the Warp Zoned crew. A few of us went further back than others, but everybody got some good gaming in as they hid from the heat. (more…)
5 Video Game Characters Who Deserve a 3-Day Weekend
Time to celebrate! Labor Day is this weekend! An American tradition since 1894, Labor Day rewards hard-working Americans with a well-deserved day off. To celebrate, many go on vacation, spend time with the family, or just relax at home and grill some burgers. While those of us in the real world get to take advantage of this national holiday, one can’t help but think of those poor characters in video games who break their backs day in and day out, and don’t get the luxury of having a Labor Day to benefit from. Therefore, I’ve compiled a list of five characters out in video game land who toil endlessly and take no time off for themselves. Relax, guys; you’ve earned it. (more…)
Nintendo Power Memories
Last week we heard some disheartening news: Nintendo Power will close its doors after a whopping twenty-five years on newsstands. Many gamers grew up reading the monthly publication, and have fond memories of the days they would open up their mailbox and find the latest issue of Nintendo Power just waiting to be read. As a child of the 80s, I am among those who were fortunate enough to be part of this era, and, like many of you, am saddened to hear that it is coming to an end. So, as a tribute – or eulogy of sorts – to Nintendo’s long-running publication, I would like to share some memories of my life as a Nintendo Power reader. (more…)
