Warp Zoned Wish List: What We Want From Killzone 4
After four intense games, it’s time to give the Helghast and ISA forces a break. Indeed, Guerilla Games has already hinted that they are preparing to move on to a new IP. However, the universe is still expanding with the live action short that recently released, as well as the novel Killzone: Ascendancy. It would be a shame to leave the game side dormant for too long, so we look ahead to the future with what we’d enjoy seeing in Killzone 4. (more…)
The G-Spot: Modern Warfare 2 vs. Black Ops
When Infinity Ward released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, it launched one of the biggest names in gaming into the stratosphere of pop culture. A year later, at the time it needed to deliver most, Treyarch released Call of Duty: Black Ops, which not only matched the records of Modern Warfare 2, but shattered them. Participating in nearly all of the betas, I was extremely excited to take it home launch day and sink my teeth into everything the final product had to offer. A year later I only touch the game every now and then, and this is as much the community’s fault as it is Zipper’s. MAG was an incredibly ambitious project which really nailed all the key areas it needed to hit, but in many ways that same ambition led to the problems responsible for its diminished player base. The game is an interesting example of innovation as well as the shortcomings of a good idea, and we’re looking back at these issues in the inaugural edition of The G-Spot. (more…)
How To Make the Perfect Sonic the Hedgehog Game
Now that Sega has announced a 20th anniversary celebration for Sonic the Hedgehog, 2011 may well prove to be an important year for their spiky blue mascot (we’ll likely get a new game out of it at least). But despite Sega’s best efforts, every gamer – casual or otherwise – knows that there hasn’t been a good Sonic the Hedgehog game made since 1994; Sonic 4 may carry on the series, but the first episode still didn’t feel perfectly right.
