Telltale Games has announced that their Guardians of the Galaxy series will continue on June 6 with the release of Episode 2: Under Pressure. It looks like the Guardians are still being pursued by Thanos in this episode, but we’ll also get a flashback to Rocket’s early life:

In “Under Pressure,” the Guardians just can’t seem to outrun the past (or their tab), but if they figure out how to control the untold power of their mysterious new relic, they might not have to. With help from dubious old friends and unwilling new allies, Star-Lord and company scour the galaxy for answers. But how long can they elude the genocidal maniac hunting them? And will simmering tensions finally tear the team apart?

And get ready to delve into a certain Rocket Raccoon’s past…

Square Enix is pitting Arkanoid Vs Space Invaders on mobile devices today

Arkanoid Vs Space Invaders is everything I would have wanted in 1987 (and I’m still reasonably excited about it in 2017).

As the title implies, two of Taito’s biggest franchises will be going toe-to-toe for the first time in a brand new mobile game. Players will take control of the Vaus “paddle ship” from Arkanoid, and reflect a giant ball (along with the Invaders own bullets) back at the devilish aliens from Space Invaders.

The mobile game will include 150 stages, and players will be able to unlock 40 different characters from other Taito franchises, as well as more than 20 powerups. The challenging 3D Invader bosses and an optional Hard Mode will make sure that players put all this firepower to good use.

Arkanoid Vs Space Invaders is published by Square Enix, and is now available to download through the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. The game will be regularly priced at $4.99, but players will be able to purchase it for $3.99 during a special launch week sale.

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow teaser trailer features a new animated short starring the show’s cast

Futurama gave fans an epic series finale back in 2013, but an upcoming mobile game from producers Matt Groening and David X. Cohen will give everyone one more chance to pilot the Planet Express with Fry, Leela, and Bender.

After initially teasing the game a few months ago, developer Jam City revealed today that Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow will be a retro-styled RPG with simulation and exploration elements:

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow will blend simulation, combat, galactic exploration, and choose-your-own-adventure mechanics together to bring the escapades of the Planet Express crew to life. The game features two main settings: New New York, which focuses on simulation and character progression gameplay, and Space Adventures, in which players will explore and battle their way through planets, nebulas, and other weird stuff across the Futurama universe.

In New New York, players will focus on rescuing characters, collecting special items and materials, expanding their characters’ capabilities by leveling them up and crafting ability-defining character outfits, and tackling story-driven quests. Events that occur in New New York will often move the game’s overarching narrative forward, by allowing players to assemble a crew of their favorite Futurama characters and take to the stars for Space Adventures.

While traversing the depths of space, players will fight alien enemies in retro arcade-style combat, rendered in beautiful 16-bit graphics, and explore strange lands in which their choices determine their fate.

Worlds of Tomorrow will also include new animation featuring voice work from Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, and the rest of the Futurama cast. You can get your first taste of these mini-adventures (the first original animation created for the show since the finale) in the teaser trailer embedded above.

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow will be available to download “soon” through the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

Rumor: Nintendo will bring Legend of Zelda to mobile devices later this year

The hierarchy of Nintendo franchises is very clear… Mario is on top, then there’s The Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon comes after that. With Super Mario Run and Pokemon Go already available to download for mobile devices, it’s only a matter of time until Nintendo introduces Link to their mobile initiative. But according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, it might be happening sooner than we think.

Speaking to “people familiar with the matter,” The Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki believes that a Legend of Zelda Mobile game will be released later this year, sometime after the launch of Animal Crossing Mobile. Mochizuki also stressed that it’s possible Animal Crossing might be delayed (for the third time), which would force Nintendo to release Zelda Mobile first. However, aside from its existence, no other details about the game were revealed.

Naturally, Nintendo declined to comment on this rumor, but it seems rather obvious the company would want to ride the Breath of the Wild hype with more adventures starring Link. A new entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise will eventually appear on mobile devices, and now is as good a time as any.

The Sims Mobile will bring the life simulation to mobile devices soon

EA has attempted to bring a Sims-like experience to mobile devices before (most recently with The Sims Freeplay), but it looks like smartphone and tablet users will soon get to experience something much closer to the real thing. That’s because the publisher recently unveiled the debut trailer for The Sims Mobile.

In addition to shrinking down the lifestyle simulation the franchise is best known for, The Sims Mobile wants to tell stories over multiple generations, and players will be able to collect Heirlooms that commemorate a growing family tree:

The Sims Mobile Features

  • Shape Your Sims Legacy: Shape your Sims’ families over multiple generations. When your Sims accomplish their career goals and retire, you’ll be rewarded with Heirlooms that unlock hobbies and careers for future generations, allowing new Sims to tell deeper stories.
  • Create Unique Sims: Customize your Sims with distinct appearances, hairstyles, outfits, and accessories. Choose different personality traits and life goals!
  • Build A Home: Personalize your Sims home layouts and designs, and decorate with a variety of furniture, appliances, decorations, and more.
  • Play Together: Host and attend parties with other Sims to socialize, show off your amazing house, earn rewards, and develop new relationships.

The Sims Mobile will be available “soon,” and fans can sign up at the official website to be notified when it’s ready to launch.

Kickstart This! Zombie Teacher

There must be something in the air in France (apart from all the political stuff), as there has been an unusually high number of game projects from the country launched on Kickstarter in the last few weeks. There’s LabyX from Yazorius in Bordeaux, a pair of games from Clermont-Ferrand (the awesome-looking NES game Twin Dragons by Antoine Gohin and building sim Sandbox by TarteUp), as well as Robi, which is in development at Xzezal in, um, “France, France.”

So, naturally, I chose a project from East London, because I used to live there. Just kidding. I chose Zombie Teacher because it looks awesome. So reach for those tasty brains and see what makes this game a delicious delight. Mmm… brains… (more…)
