Nintendo reveals new Pokemon Conquest details

When Nintendo first announced a Pokemon and Nobunaga’s Ambition crossover, I just chalked it up to the Japanese game industry and their love of bizarre crossovers. But I’m still in shock that the game will be making it to America on June 18 as Pokemon Conquest. I guess I shouldn’t be though. After all, I think it was Einstein who first posited the mathematical proof “Pokemon + DS = $$$$$.”

So to continue getting fans hyped for a game featuring mythical monsters taking part in feudal Japanese warfare, Nintendo has released a ton of new details on the story and gameplay mechanics of Pokemon Conquest, which you can find after the break. (more…)

Whoa, two weeks in a row with a new Virtual Console release!

For this week’s Nintendo Download, the publisher has added the Genesis classic Super Hang-On to the Wii’s Virtual Console. In addition to being the greatest motorcycle game ever… wait, being the greatest motorcycle game ever is more than enough reason to play it.

Also available this week is the DSi Shop title Amoebattle, an underwater puzzle game; and on the 3DS eShop, Bird Mania 3D, “a skill-based action game in which you steer a little birdie on his way to Africa.”

It’s the last day of April and I say good riddance! April’s been nothing but cold weather and rain, with a major drought in video game releases. Bring on May, with the flowers and video games! Especially Diablo III.

Nintendo Download: 3DS system update, Super Street Fighter II, more

Nintendo has pushed out a system update for the 3DS as part of their weekly Nintendo Download offerings. The update adds the ability to place folders on the handheld’s Home Screen as well as streamlines browsing in the 3DS eShop.

And speaking of the 3DS eShop, Nintendo has added a new game to the online store today as well. Titled Block Factory, it’s, you guessed it, a puzzle game that features falling blocks. On the DSi Shop, Nintendo has Chuck E. Cheese’s Arcade Room, which promises to “recreate the magic of being at Chuck E. Cheese’s!” Unless it includes a miniature copy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, I doubt it could recreate my favorite memories of Chuck E. Cheese.

Finally, Nintendo remembered that the Virtual Console still exists on the Wii and has added Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers to the Wii Shop. Unlike your typical Virtual Console game, Super Street Fighter II adds online multiplayer to the mix.

More information on all of these titles can be found after the break. (more…)

Nintendo Download: Kid Icarus 3D, I Must Run!

Welcome to today’s Nintendo Download where we tell you all about a “3D Classics” version of Kid Icarus on the 3DS eShop and the running-platformer I Must Run! on the DSi Shop.

OK, done. Now let Nintendo tell you about them again, in a bit more detail:

3D Classics: Kid Icarus (3DS eShop) – Relive Pit’s first adventure in 3D Classics: Kid Icarus as you venture from the depths of the underworld up to the heights of the sky palace. Play in 2D or 3D as you face down the evil goddess Medusa.

I Must Run! (DSiWare) – I Must Run! is a skill-based action running game. Jump across gaps between jail buildings, run through a subway station, and test your reflexes in a deadly dash over construction site cranes.

Nintendo Download: Ketzal’s Corridors, Anne’s Doll Studio

Nintendo is adding only two games to their various download services today, which is quite possibly a first for the company. Perhaps the creation of WiiWare and DSiWare games is coming to an end?

But any future speculation hasn’t stopped today’s addition, which include the Tetris-like puzzler Ketzal’s Corridors (3DS eShop) and paper doll simulator Anne’s Doll Studio: Tokyo Collection. Yes, you read that correctly.

More info on both of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
