Daily Scoop: August 8, 2011 – Tunic for Heroes
Oh, Monday. How you came up and stole the weekend away! But it’s ok, because I got to play a ton of video games all weekend, including some Borderlands and some co-op Portal 2. So bring it on, Monday!
Let’s see, what have we got today? Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Ubisoft’s CSI: Unsolved for the Nintendo DS. It’s on sale for just $9.99, so if you feel like solving some crimes with Morpheus Laurence Fishburne, now’s your chance!
Amazon’s also got new weekly deals in games. If you buy Disney Epic Mickey, you can get another Disney game for a total of $39.99. (My vote is always for Disney Sing It: Party Hits!) The other deal is $20.99 for Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor for the Nintendo DS.
No daily gaming shirts today, but I’m sort of loving 6 Dollar Shirts, especially this one: (more…)
New Driver: San Francisco multiplayer trailer says “Don’t Blink and Drive”
Ubisoft’s Driver: San Francisco looks fantastic in this new multiplayer trailer. The trailer, called “Don’t Blink and Drive,” highlights all of the multiplayer modes in the game, which will be out on September 6 for DS, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. I can’t get that song out of my head now…
Daily Scoop: August 5, 2011 – Mario M.D.
Whew, Friday is here! And I’ve got a three-day weekend. Today will primarily be thinking about, writing about, and reading about video games. If I’m lucky, I might even get to play some! What a novel idea…
Anyway, today’s Deal of the Day in video games over at Amazon is one that I think Ryan Littlefield will like. It’s Hori’s Nintendo DS Dragon Quest Slime Speaker Stand for $34.99! I would love to see what my cats would think about that little guy.
What else? Amazon’s offering a $50 promotional credit when you buy the Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect. Also worth mentioning is a current in-store deal at GameStop – buy a 320 GB PlayStation 3 Move Bundle and get two free games – selection varies by store.
Today’s Qwertee is called “Mario M.D.” and it’s a nice Mario/”House” mashup (and a repeat from a Tee Fury shirt back in January): (more…)

Daily Scoop: August 2, 2011 – It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this t-shirt!
Sometimes, I go for days at a time without offering up a t-shirt of the day. Today there are two that I feel I might not be able to live without! But first: today’s deals!
Fortunately, there’s not much to report today. Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games today is Nintendo’s Golden Sun: Dark Dawn for the Nintendo DS, on sale for $19.99. This latest addition to the Golden Sun saga “takes place 30 years after the final events of the second game, when the Golden Sun Effect occurred” and uses the touch control for the battle system. Scoop it up!
Don’t forget to check out Amazon’s bonus offer page as well, which has tons of great promotional credit items – including a free soundtrack with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 Innocent Sin. Good times!
And now, today’s double whammy of t-shirt designs, which are about to make me $20 poorer: (more…)
New Releases: Duke Nukem Forever for Mac, Bleach Soul Resurreccion, Saints Row Pack
The Summer game drought continues into the first week of August (and likely beyond).
This week, NIS America will be bringing the interestingly spelled Bleach: Soul Resurreccion to the PlayStation 3 and…
um…
hmm…
Oh! Duke Nukem Forever will be available for the Mac this week. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. Unless you count the Saints Row Double Pack on the Xbox 360 as a new release.
Check out the full list of the rest of this week’s new releases after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Let’s Golf 3D, Brawl Brothers
Nintendo has updated their online shops and made a variety of new games available to download on the 3DS, DS and Wii. This week’s additions include:
Let’s Golf 3D (3DS eShop)
Choose from eight customizable characters and play in exotic locations, including the Mayan jungle and a winter wonderland. The 3D visuals will let you view your ball’s trajectory like never before.
Brawl Brothers (WiiWare)
Rick and Doug know all the moves, from martial arts to pro wrestling throws, and they don’t hesitate to use them. You really don’t want to mess with them!
Burn the Rope (WiiWare)
Try to burn as much of the rope as possible in each level. But there’s a catch: The fire only burns upward, so you must rotate the levels to keep your flame alive.
- Go Series: Portable Shrine Wars (DSiWare)
- Oscar’s World Tour (DSiWare)
- My Australian Farm (DSiWare)
More information on all of these titles can be found at the weekly Nintendo Download newsletter.
Nintendo Video coming to America “soon”
The Nintendo Video service is not currently available from the 3DS eShop. I repeat, the Nintendo Video service is not currently available from the 3DS eShop. However, Nintendo used this week’s Nintendo Download to announce that the service will be coming soon.
When’s soon? Nobody knows. But here’s what this week’s real Nintendo Download looks like:
3DS owners will have a chance to download a 3D Classics version of the NES game Xevious. They’ll also have access to this week’s DSiWare offerings: Trollboarder, a snowboarding game with trolls (not what I expected at all); Antipole, a gravity-reversing shooter; and Kung Fu Dragon, a martial arts training game.
The WiiWare service will receive one new game today, Bobby Carrot Forever, a puzzle platformer starring Bobby Carrot.
More information on all of the games in today’s Nintendo Download can be found in Nintendo’s weekly newsletter.
