Nintendo Download: Shovel Knight, Castlevania III, Wii Sports Club, more
The time to dispense shovel justice is upon us. Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight is now available to download through the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and 3DS. The ridiculously retro side-scroller has been available to Kickstarter backers since yesterday, but now everyone will get the chance to slam a shovel down upon the group of evildoers known as The Order of No Quarter.
While Yacht Club strived to make Shovel Knight as authentically 8-bit as possible, an actual 8-bit game is available to download this week via the Virtual Console. 3DS and Wii U owners are now able to purchase Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, one of the franchise’s best games.
If you’re looking for something a little newer, Nintendo also released the final two games in the Wii Sports Club collection: Baseball and Boxing. All five games can be downloaded individually from the eShop, or you can wait until July 25 to purchase the retail compilation.
More information on all of these titles (as well as many more) can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Pushmo World, 2048, Super Dodge Ball, more
Nintendo has brought their Pushmo series of puzzlers to the Wii U with today’s launch of Pushmo World on the Wii U eShop. It’s joined by an absolutely ridiculous number of new games including…
- How To Survive, a survival horror game (whoa, meta) for the Wii U.
- 2048 (3DS), the mobile puzzler that was inspired in large part by Threes!
- Super Dodge Ball (3DS and Wii U), one of the few dodge ball games ever to be produced and a stone cold NES classic.
- Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition (3DS and Wii U), a fancified version of the popular platformer.
And that’s just the tip of this week’s new releases on the 3DS, Wii U, and DSi. More information on all of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Street Fighter Alpha 2, Mega Man V, Swords & Soliders, more
Welcome to your weekly Nintendo Download report. This week, Nintendo has added four games to the Wii U eShop, three to the 3DS eShop, and one to the DSiWare Shop. Here we go…
The Wii U eShop is now home to Swords & Soldiers, a side-scrolling RTS; Squids Odyssey, a squiddy RPG; and Fit Music, a dancing/exercise game; and Street Fighter Alpha 2, a classic 2D fighter originally released for the Super NES.
Over on the 3DS eShop, Nintendo has added Mega Man V, the last Mega Man game released for the Game Boy; Turtle Tale, a turtley 2D platformer; and Alien On the Run, an overhead-style puzzle platformer.
Finally, Nintendo has added Lost Treasures of Alexandria to the DSiWare Shop. The game is, as you’d expect, a match-3 puzzler.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Wii Party U, Scram Kitty, Moon Chronicles, more
This week’s Nintendo Download wants you to Scram! No! Wait! Come back! I’m just talking about Scram Kitty and His Buddy On Rails, an overhead shooter from Dakko Dakko, that is now available to download through the Wii U eShop.
It’s joined this week by a trio of puzzle games as Wii Party U (a minigame collection that was originally released for the Wii U last year), Color Zen (a shape-based puzzler), and Adventures of Lolo (a great “move the blocks” puzzler from the NES era) are now also available from Nintendo’s digital storefront.
3DS owners will be able to download four new games today. The four games include Renegade Kid’s Moon Chronicles, a first person shooter that is a remake of the cult favorite DS game Moon; Mega Man IV, a Virtual Console re-release of the Game Boy platformer; Arc Style: Baseball 3D, a simplistic baseball game from Arc System Works; and Candy Match 3, a match-3 puzzler (just how many of these does the 3DS have?).
More information on all of these titles (as well as Deep Sea Creatures on the DSiWare Shop) can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Mega Man II, Mega Man III, Wario Land 4, more
“Mega May” continues with the release of Mega Man II and Mega Man III on the 3DS eShop. Both games were originally released for the Game Boy in 1992 and were partially based on Mega Man II, III, and IV for the NES. In other retro gaming news… Wario Land 4, the first (and only) game in the series to be released for the Game Boy Advance, has been added to the Wii U eShop.
If you’re looking for something original, the 3DS eShop is now home to two brand new RPGs. Grinsia is a retro-inspired dungeon crawler and The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll is an RPG with augmented reality elements. Also available this week on the 3DS is Parking Star 3D, a parking lot sim.
Three new games were also added to the DSiWare Shop today. Jewel Match and Jewel Quest IV: Heritage are both puzzle games of the “match-3” variety and Sokomania 2: Cool Job is an overhead maze puzzler that stars a deranged-looking warehouse foreman.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: NES Remix 2, Child of Light, Yoshi’s Island, more
It’s an embarrassment of riches in this week’s Nintendo Download. But don’t expect most of the major titles to be available today.
Beginning tomorrow, April 25, Wii U owners will be able to download NES Remix 2, Nintendo’s second challenged-based minigame collection featuring NES classics. On April 29, Wii U owners will also be able to download Child of Light, Ubisoft’s side-scrolling action RPG. However, if you have to have something new to play today, Nintendo added Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 to the Virtual Console section of the Wii U eShop today.
What can we look forward to on Nintendo’s 3DS handheld? Well… Majesco wants you to say hi to Mama once more as Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends will be available for the 3DS on April 29. And the Big N themselves have made a demo version of Mario Golf: World Tour available to download today.
More information on all of these (as well as a few additional new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)
New Releases: TitanFall Xbox 360, Lego The Hobbit, Kinect Sports Rivals, More
After a month-long delay, EA and Respawn Entertainment are finally ready to launch the Xbox 360 version of TitanFall.
If giant mechs duking it out on the battlefield isn’t your thing, you might be interested to know that WB Games will release the awkwardly-titled Lego The Hobbit this week. The game will be available on Tuesday for the 3DS, PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox 360, and Xbox One with a Wii U release set for April 22. A PC version of the game will be also be downloadable this week through Steam.
Finally, Microsoft will bring Kinect Sports Rivals, their motion-controlled sports franchise, to the Xbox One for the first time and Nintendo will join forces with Disney to bring the Disney Magical World life sim to the 3DS this week.
A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Dr. Mario, Clu Clu Land, more
A few months after adding Dr. Luigi to the Wii U eShop, Nintendo has gone and ahead and made the NES original, Dr. Mario, available to download as well. Another NES puzzler, Clu Clu Land is now available to download from the 3DS eShop.
Four other games will make their way to the Nintendo eShop this week including My Style Studio: Hair Salon (Wii U), a hair styling sim; Skater Cat (3DS), a platformer where you control a skateboarding cat; Airport Hero Hawaii (3DS), an air traffic control sim; and I Am In the Movie (DSi), a video editing application.
