SteamWorld Dig 2 Review: Groundbreaking
It’s hard to believe that four years have already passed since the original SteamWorld Dig first graced gaming systems. Image & Form’s platformer came out of left field and garnered attention and praise from gamers and critics alike (it was even in the running for the “‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson Award” in our annual Golden Pixel Awards roundup). At the time, we couldn’t wait to return to the SteamWorld universe and see the characters “fleshed out” in a sequel, so-to-speak.
Instead, the next entry we got in the series was a spinoff, SteamWorld Heist. It was still set in the same universe as Dig, but Heist wasn’t a direct sequel, and took place much further in the future. Gameplay was also different, as Heist took on a turn-based strategy approach as opposed to Dig’s resource-collecting, mining, MetroidVania style. While fun in its own right, many wanted to see a return to SteamWorld Dig’s roots.
And almost half a decade later, we got our wish. (more…)
Wolfenstein II, Assassins Creed Origins, Just Dance 2018, more coming to the PS Store this week
It’s a good time for epic-size games on the PlayStation Store.
This week, Bethesda will launch Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus for the PS4, and it’ll be joined by Ubisoft’s double-shot of Assassin’s Creed Origins and Just Dance 2018. But if you’re looking for something a bit smaller, WayForward will also launch The Mummy Demastered, their latest retro-themed “MetroidVania” for the PS4, this week.

New Retail Releases: Super Mario Odyssey, Wolfenstein II, Assassin’s Creed Origins, More
Mario is back this week in his first fully 3D adventure in more than a decade. Super Mario Odyssey will make its Switch debut this Friday, but fans can dance along with its super-catchy theme song, “Jump Up Super Star,” right now.
Also returning to the dance floor this week is BJ Blazkowicz (in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus), Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise (in Assassin’s Creed Origins), and the latest entry in the Just Dance series (Just Dance 2018).
Finally this week, Destiny 2 will make its PC debut.

Gran Turismo Sport, WWE 2K18, Jackbox Party Pack 4, more added to PS Store
Get ready to go on a wild ride with friends of all stripes in this week’s PlayStation Store update.
To start things off, Sony will launch the first online-focused entry in the Gran Turismo franchise, Gran Turismo Sport. 2K Games will offer up their own knockdown-dragout clash for the PS4 this week with the release of WWE 2K18. However, for the true cutthroat competitor, there’s The Jackbox Party Pack 4, the latest party game compilation from Jackbox Games.
Two very different sets of friends round out the rest of the PlayStation Store update. The South Park gang will tackle superhero franchises in South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and Deck Nine will continue the story of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm in Episode 2: Brave New World.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, The Evil Within 2, Raiden V, more added to PS Store
Epics of various shapes and sizes are the order of business in this week’s PlayStation Store update.
WB Games and Monolith will return to J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy world with Middle-Earth: Shadow of War on the PS4. Bethesda will follow suit with a similar return trip to The Evil Within 2, the newest entry in their epic horror franchise.
Fans of epic vertically-scrolling shooters will also be pleased to learn that Raiden V: Director’s Cut will be available to download for the PS4 this week. And speaking of space opera, Telltale also plans to launch Guardians of the Galaxy – Episode 4: Who Needs You for the PS4 this week.

New Retail Releases: Middle-Earth Shadow of War, The Evil Within 2, Friday the 13th, More
There might never be one game to rule them all… but the One Right returns to video games this week in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
We’re also getting closer to Halloween and that means a pair of horror games are on the horizon. Bethesda is back this week with The Evil Within 2 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And Gun Media will launch a retail edition of Friday the 13th: The Game for the PS4 and Xbox one.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 2, more added to PS Store
Sony is back with another PlayStation Store update this week, and it’s sure to please those looking for something a bit different.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is now available to download for the PS4, and it’s an RPG from Joe Madureira based on his comic of the same name. Also available for the PS4 this week is Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, a re-release of Capcom’s quirky action game. And finally this week, Telltale Games will introduce Harley Quinn to the world of Batman: The Enemy Within in Episode 2 – The Pact.

Stardew Valley coming to Switch this week… Battle Princess Madelyn gets a new teaser trailer
ConcernedApe has announced that Switch owners will soon be able to take Stardew Valley on the go, and Casual Bit Games has unveiled the newest trailer for Battle Princess Madelyn.
