“Bad Box Art” Mega Man, Pac-Man added to Street Fighter X Tekken
Ridiculous? Or genius? I can’t decide…
Capcom and Sony are definitely pulling out all the stops to ensure the PS3/Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken is the one to get. You can check out all the insanity in the trailer above, but Pac-Man (riding the wooden fighting dummy, Mokujin) and Mega Man (in his Mega Man 1 “bad box art” costume) will be joining the fight.
Pac-Man and Mega Man join the previously announced PS3/Vita exclusive characters Cole (from InFamous) and the Sony Cats (Kuro and Toro).
So what’s the verdict? Ridiculous? Or genius? Street Fighter X Tekken will be available for the PS3 and Vita (and PC and Xbox 360) on March 6.
Street Fighter X Tekken coming March 6; new details, special edition announced
The biggest battle royale since Mario took on Sonic now has an official release date. Capcom used this year’s New York Comic-Con to confirm that Street Fighter X Tekken will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Vita on March 6, 2012. A PC version will be released at a later date.
In addition to the release date, Capcom has unveiled a ton of new gameplay details in an informative six-minute trailer which you can view after the break.
A new “Gem System” will ensure that no two players will play the same way, even if they choose the same character. Dozens of Gems, which fit into five categories (Attack, Defense, Speed, Balance and Cross Gauge), are available to customize each fighter. And the best way to get a jump on the competition is with the Street Fighter X Tekken Special Edition, which will include 36 Gems.
Oh, did I mention Capcom announced a Special Edition for Street Fighter X Tekken? Because they did, and it is awesome. Besides the Gems and a copy of the game, the Special Edition will include a prequel comic created by Udon and a five-inch coin bank shaped like an arcade cabinet (a disclaimer dashes our hope of true handheld play as the cabinet is NOT PLAYABLE according to Capcom).
And if you look close, Capcom also accidentally announced a Vita launch window. Way to go guys. (more…)
Sony @ E3 11: Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken coming to PS Vita w/ Infamous’ Cole
Capcom’s crossover fighter between the two legendary franchises, Street Fighter X Tekken will not only be coming to PlayStation 3 (and Xbox 360), but will also be gracing the PSP’s successor, the PlayStation Vita. Also, Infamous‘ Cole McGrath will be joining the cast of the game on all PlayStation platforms.
Street Fighter X Tekken: Julia is New Challenger #3
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time again to receive yet another obvious character tease announcement for Street Fighter X Tekken.
If you haven’t figured it out, it’s Julia from the Tekken series . Other characters that have been added to the roster are Sagat and Cammy. Is it just me or are these character reveals not as exciting as the ones for games such as the Marvel vs. Capcom series and Smash Bros Brawl series? Perhaps this is because we know for a fact that the only characters in this game will be from either Street Fighter or Tekken and that Capcom is not afraid to release a fighter with a 56-character roster list. Because Capcom has not released any word of the character roster limit, we may very well see almost every character from both the Street Fighter and Tekken universes.
Namco Bandai “hasn’t started” Tekken X Street Fighter
Here’s a bit of a surprise. With Capcom hard at work on Street Fighter X Tekken (the publisher is targeting an early 2012 release date), Namco Bandai has revealed that they haven’t even started working on Tekken X Street Fighter.
Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada talked to CVG yesterday at the company’s Level Up event, where he broke the bad news:
“We really haven’t started on Tekken X Street Fighter. Things are going well with Street Fighter X Tekken and we’ll have more on that at E3. We hope you look forward to that.”
So I guess we got that going for us. Which is nice.
Street Fighter X Tekken gets trailer, adds PC version
Above you’ll find the first trailer from Street Fighter X Tekken, Capcom’s latest crossover event. Watch as Ryu, Ken, Guile, Abel and Chun-Li from the Street Fighter series take on Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, and Bob from the Tekken franchise. You’ll get a glimpse at the game’s Tag Battle fighting system as well as a view of the Capcomized versions of the Tekken cast.
Street Fighter X Tekken will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012. Capcom used their Captivate event to confirm that a version is in the works for the PC as well.
Head on over to the Capcom-Unity blog to see the first screenshots of SFxT and another trailer.
Capcom, Namco won’t interfere with the other’s Street Fighter/Tekken crossover game
While Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat is still just a pipe dream of teenagers from the 90s, Capcom and Namco Bandai are moving full speed ahead with their Street Fighter and Tekken throwdowns.
But if you were worried that making two separate games based on the battle would be overkill, fear not, because apparently the two publishers have agreed not to interfere with anything the other does with one of their most sacred franchises. Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono recently sat down with The Guardian to promote Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and delivered the news in the awesome way that only he can:
When we first decided to go ahead with this project we agreed not to interfere with each other at all! So Namco Bandai has no say in anything we do in Street Fighter X Tekken and vice versa for Tekken X Street Fighter – we have no idea what that’s going to look like and we cannot object to whatever Namco does!
If they go down the Dead or Alive route and Chun-Li comes out rather sexy, we STILL can’t say anything!
This news was already awesome, but Ono’s example showing just how much freedom each developer has in developing their “X” game is something you rarely see in inter-company crossovers.
Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis will join Tekken 7 in Spring 2018
Tekken 7‘s DLC roster is already packed with a pair of crossover fighters including Street Fighter‘s Akuma and The King of Fighters‘s Geese Howard. But beginning next year, someone rather different will enter the game’s arena…
Bandai Namco has announced that Noctis, the star of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV, will be available to download in Tekken 7 in Spring 2018. Noctis will wield his “signature” Engine Blade as he does battle with Tekken 7’s biggest names. And you can catch a sneak peek at his inclusion in the game with the new trailer embedded above.
Tekken 7 is now available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
