Bloodstained officially coming to Vita; final stretch goals announced
Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is officially coming to the PlayStation Vita after crossing the $3.5 million mark in total pledges over the weekend.
Like the Wii U version, the portable port of Bloodstained will be developed by Armature. They plan to offer a music import option to transfer Bloodstained’s soundtrack to your Vita music library, PS4 Cross-Save support, touchscreen map support, and PlayStation TV compatibility. Like all other versions of the game, digital and physical copies are currently available to backers.
With the campaign scheduled to conclude in just four days on Friday, June 12 at 11:00 PM (Eastern Time), Igarashi and his team at Inti Creates have revealed the final stretch goals, which include another playable character and a separate prequel game created created in a retro style:
$3,750,000 – Orchestrated Tracks: Yamane and Yamada are thrilled to see this goal on the horizon, as it will enable them to have some of their compositions performed and recorded by a live, professional orchestra! These tracks will, of course, end up in the game, not to mention on the soundtrack.
$4,000,000 – Online Challenge Mode: Compete and cooperate with a friend to earn points in specially designed stages by clearing challenges, killing enemies, collecting items, and more. Rumor has it there there may even be incredibly powerful bosses which drop rare crafting materials…
$4,250,000 – 3rd Playable Character: Iga and Inti Creates will include a third playable character in Bloodstained! They don’t want to give away too much—it might even be a character you haven’t met yet.
$4,500,000 – Prequel Mini-Game For Consoles: Inti Creates is so excited about Bloodstained that they’re hoping to create a 2D, pixel-based, retro-styled mini-game that sheds some light on the world of Bloodstained before Miriam awoke from her coma. This is a complete game which will be sold separately, but every $28+ backer copy of Bloodstained will come with a FREE download of this game on PS4, XB1, Wii U, or PC! (Backers at Physical+Digital tiers will be eligible for 2 copies of the mini-game.)
$4,750,000 – Prequel Mini-Game For Portables: At $4.75 million Inti will port their side story game to the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Backers $28 and up will be able to choose any platform for their free copy (or copies)!
$5,000,000 – ?????
More than 44,000 backers have pledged over $3.6 million to Bloodstained so far. Can Igarashi find more folks to push it to $5 million? Check back Friday to find out.
Bloodstained coming to Wii U with Vita version now in sight
As expected, backers have pushed the Kickstarter campaign for Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night past the $3 million mark, reaching a huge stretch goal and opening up a few more.
First things first, this new monetary benchmark means a Wii U version of the game will officially go into development at Armature. The porting house plans to make full use of the GamePad’s second screen and will feature a map that can be fully annotated. Though if you prefer Off-Screen Play, that will also be included. Miiverse integration, and Wii U Pro Controller support will be included as well.
A pair of additional stretch goals have also opened up including Asynchronous Online Multiplayer at $3.25 million and a Vita version of the game at $3.5 million. And actually, the Asynchronous Online Multiplayer features that “Iga” would like to include sound very cool:
- “Borrow” a friend’s character stats for a certain amount of time (your friend will get a bonus)
- Ghost Data (See friend’s saved character movements while fighting a boss)
- Friend’s playthroughs affect your game in some way (e.g. a gravestone and an offering might mark the spot where your friend died)
Bloodstained’s campaign still has 12 days to go, so both of these stretch goals (and surely a few others) seem well within reach.
Igarashi’s Bloodstained will come to Wii U if it reaches $3 million stretch goal
Koji Igarashi’s Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has had a pretty successful run so far. After two weeks, the side-scroller has reached $2.77 million in backer pledges and plowed through more than a dozen stretch goals. Since we last checked in with the campaign, backers have unlocked a Boss Rush Mode, a retro-themed level, a linearly re-arranged version of the game known as Classic Mode, six 8-bit music tracks for Classic Mode, and a promise that Bloodstained will have the “biggest castle” Igarashi has ever produced.
But the next stretch goal should be very important to Wii U owners as Igarashi has confirmed that Bloodstained will be released for Nintendo’s console if the campaign reaches $3 million. The Wii U version of the game will be produced by Armature Studio, a development team that specializes in porting games to new platforms. You might be familiar with their work if you’ve played the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection or Injustice: Gods Among Us on the Vita. Armature also assisted with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for the PS4 and Xbox One.
The Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will end on June 12 at 11:00 PM (Eastern Time), so the world has a little less than 16 days to make the Wii U version happen. If I were a betting man, I’d say it’s as close to a sure thing as you can get.
Igarashi’s Bloodstained is fully-funded and whipping its way through stretch goals
Are we in the middle of a Kickstarter renaissance? Maybe…
First there was the smashing success of Yooka-Laylee, and now, Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is off to an incredibly fast start. The gothic side-scroller has collected nearly $1.8 million in pledges, vaulting well past its $500,000 funding goal and obliterating a whole series of stretch goals.
These stretch goals will expand the scope of Bloodstained and add in a variety of additional features including a second playable character, a Nightmare difficulty mode, voice acting from David Hayter, a cheat codes menu, local co-op play, and a Speed Run Mode. A Boss Rush Mode has been promised if the campaign reaches $2 million and even more stretch goals are planned beyond that point.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s Kickstarter campaign still has 30 days remaining. If you’re interested in what Igarashi is doing, be sure to check it out.
Koji Igarashi is back with a Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Koji Igarashi, the famed creator of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, has returned to game development. Igarashi, known as “Iga” to friends and fans, shepherded the Castlevania series as its Director until 2014, when he left Konami to form his own studio. Today, the developer announced a partenership with Mighty No. 9 developer Inti Creates to bring the gothically-styled Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to Kickstarter.
Igarashi is seeking $500,000 to develop Bloodstained, and he’s more than halfway to his goal as of this writing. With more than 30 days to go, it seems likely that this spiritual successor to Symphony of the Night (now with 2.5D side-scrolling and co-op) will reach its funding target. Interested backers will have two options to obtain a copy of the game including a $28 digital copy or a $60 retail disc (which will include bonus content). Whatever choice you make, Bloodstained is scheduled to be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in March 2017.
Igarashi channels Dracula in the pitch video embedded above, but what is the game all about? Well, it’s a tale of curses and loss… also, there are swords and whips:
You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.
Igarashi and his partners at Inti Creates and Fangamer have created a ton of ridiculously loaded backer tiers for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. If you love the side-scrolling Castlevania game, I definitely recommend giving the Kickstarter campaign a look.
