CoD: Infinite Warfare’s Sabotage DLC Pack will be available for PS4 on January 31

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will receive its first downloadable expansion from Activision and Infinity Ward on January 31. The Sabotage DLC Pack will be available first for PS4 players, and as expected, it’ll include four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombies chapter.

For Zombies fans, “Rave in the Redwoods” will give players the chance to dance with the dead in an “abandoned lakeside summer camp”:

“Rave in the Redwoods,” the next thrilling chapter of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies experience, continues the macabre narrative while transporting players into a new decade: the 1990s. Willard Wyler, the enigmatic movie director villain, returns and has trapped the protagonists inside another one of his twisted horror films. The four playable characters from the original story also return, but with fresh, over-the-top roles, as they learn more about Wyler’s evil plot while fighting all-new varieties of the undead in an abandoned, lakeside summer camp where zombie ravers have taken over and turned the grounds into a techno-fueled illusion. “Rave in the Redwoods” is a tense, spooky thrill ride with shocking twists, surprises, and a slew of new Easter eggs for players to discover.

And the new multiplayer maps will include several futuristic options, including a re-imagining of the “Afghan” map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:

Multiplayer Maps in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Sabotage DLC Pack

  • Noir – A dark, grimy city map inspired by futuristic Brooklyn at night, Noir is a classic three-lane map set against a backdrop of a dystopian future, filled with cafes and parks surrounding a brutal downtown warzone.
  • Neon – A virtual training center designed for urban warfare, Neon is a unique, digitized battle arena where cars and other structures spawn out of thin air and enemies dissolve into hundreds of pixels when defeated. Middle lane sightlines will cater to long-range players while the outsides of the map allow for quick counter-attacks in close-quarter action.
  • Renaissance – Set in Northern Italy, Renaissance pits players against each other on the narrow streets of Venice surrounded by classic architecture and buildings that promote continuous action through the canals and neighborhoods of this iconic city.
  • Dominion – A re-imagining of the classic Afghan map from Modern Warfare 2, now set on Mars, Dominion retains all the memorable landmarks and gameplay of the original, anchored by the crashed ship in the center, with a few enhancements designed to take advantage of the new movement system.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Sabotage DLC Pack is priced at $49.99, though PS4 players will also have the option to purchase each expansion as a standalone download for $15 apiece. If history repeats itself, PC and Xbox One players will likely be able to download the Sabotage DLC Pack sometime in early March.

CoD: Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game of November 2016, but it sold less than Black Ops III

Ever since it was first announced, the public reaction to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been less than kind. Fans furiously downvoted the debut trailer, while others pledged not to purchase something that strayed so far from the franchise’s roots. But it looks like not everyone felt that way.

According to the NPD Group’s latest report (via GamesIndustry.biz), Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game of November 2016. However, it performed much worse for retailers than the first-month sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops III last year.

Total game sales were down roughly 19% versus November 2015, but a few new releases put up big numbers including Pokemon Sun (#3), Pokemon Moon (#4), and Watch Dogs 2 (#8). And in hardware news, it was reported that Nintendo sold 196,000 NES Classic Edition consoles during its first month on sale.

The full Top 10 from November 2016 can be found after the break. (more…)

Activision will add six maps (plus “Winter Crash” bonus map) to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on December 13

Back in September, Activision promised that every mutliplayer map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would be available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered by the end of the year. Yesterday, they made good on their promise by confirming that the remaining six maps (“Bloc,” “Countdown,” “Pipeline,” “Showdown,” “Strike,” and “Wet Work”) will be released on December 13.

Modern Warfare Remastered’s December Update will also include the holiday-themed “Winter Crash” map as a bonus, as well as the Gun Game and Hardpoint game modes.

As of today, Activision hasn’t announced any plans to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone download, and the game is currently only available as part of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s Legacy Edition.

Xbox Store Today: CoD Infinite Warfare, Atari Flashback Classics Vol 1 & Vol 2, Gas Guzzlers Extreme

We’re going back to the past and forward to the future (while also going back to the past) in today’s Xbox Games Store update.

Infinity Ward is taking the Call of Duty franchise into a far-flung future with sci-fi-style weaponry, cyborgs, and space battles in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for the Xbox One. But if you’re someone who’s looking for something a little more familiar, the developer has also worked hard to produce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, a bonus game included in Infinite Warfare’s pricey Legacy Edition.

If you’d rather go further back, Atari has released two new collections of Atari 2600 classics for the Xbox One… Atari Flashback Classics Volume 1 and Atari Flashback Classics Volume 2. Both packages include 50 different titles, with Combat, Centipede, Swordquest, and Star Raiders included in Volume 1, and Asteroids, Haunted House, Adventure, and Major Havoc in Volume 2.

Finally this week, Gas Guzzlers Extreme is now available for the Xbox One and it features the type of car combat that was all the rage back in the late 90s. Oh, and there’s also zombies for some reason.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

CoD: Infinite Warfare, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Destroy All Humans, more added to PS Store

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will report for PS4 duty on the PlayStation Store this Friday. Activision and Infinity Ward tapped Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington to portray “The Face of the Enemy” in their interstellar war, and don’t that the Legacy Edition will also include a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

Also available to download this week is BlazBlue: Central Fiction, the latest 2D fighter from Arc System Works. This time around, 35 characters will battle it out on the PS4 and PS3.

Finally this week, THQ Nordic will bring back the Destroy All Humans! series with a PS2-On-PS4 re-release of the first game in the series, Destroy All Humans!

More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And don’t forget that a full list of this week’s new add-ons and discounts is available at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

New Retail Releases: CoD Infinite Warfare, Mario Party Star Rush, SteamWorld Collection, More

newreleases103016

After the Battlefield franchise brought the fight all the way back to World War I, Activision decided to take the Call of Duty series even further into the future with this week’s release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Developer Infinity Ward has fully embraced the science fiction genre this time around with lasers, robots, space battles, and a whole lot more.

This pivot to the future shouldn’t be that surprising as the Call of Duty franchise first broke through in a big way with the release of 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. PS4 and Xbox One owners will get a chance to relive that seminal entry in the entry if they purchase Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Legacy Edition, which includes access to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

A different kind of war will take place this week in Mario Party: Star Rush for the 3DS. Nintendo’s series of Mario-themed board games has always provided plenty of multiplayer shenanigans, and Star Rush will likely be no different.

Finally this week, a handful of games that were previously only available as digital downloads will be released in special retail version this week. Image & Form will package together SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist in SteamWorld Collection for the PS4 and Wii U. 13AM Games will release a Runbow: Deluxe Edition for the Wii U. And Bandai Nacmo will bring Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 + Arcade Game Series to the Xbox One.

The full list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)

Activision has deployed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s Launch Trailer

One of the most-popular and best-reviewed games in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will receive a remastered release this November, but Activision wants to start getting excited now. Yesterday, the publisher deployed a Launch Trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and it hits all the high points.

PS4 players who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Legacy Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be able to download Modern Warfare’s single-player Campaign on October 5. Sadly, they’ll have to wait until November 4 to jump back into the game’s multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will also be available on the PC and Xbox One for players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare. As of right now, Activision doesn’t have any plans to sell Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone, but that could always change in the future.
