A new Story Trailer for CoD: Infinite Warfare introduces us to Kit Harrington’s “Face of the Enemy”

As we’ve all come to expect, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s cast will feature a few famous faces when it launches for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this November. This time around, Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) and Conor McGregor (a UFC Champion) will be on hand to cause trouble for our heroes (lead by noted voice actor Brian Bloom as Captain Nick Reyes).

Harrington and McGregor certainly get to look imposing in the new Story Trailer as the leaders of the Settlement Defense Front, a terrorist group that wants to invade Earth. Also keep your eyes peeled for plenty of explosions, some space-fu, and all the gung-ho military dialogue you could ever ask for:

After a simultaneous surprise attack on UNSA forces in Geneva and the Moon Port Gateway, Captain Nick Reyes must take the helm of the Retribution, one of Earth’s last remaining warships. In a time of unthinkable adversity, Reyes must lead his trusted crew against the relentless Settlement Defense Front’s plans to dominate all who oppose them.

The freedom of every citizen of Earth is at stake.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4.

It’s Official… PS4 Slim to be released next week and PS4 Pro in November

ps4-header

I’m not sure Sony was ever trying to keep the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro a secret, but today the consolemaker announced full technical specs, price, and release date for the new models.

The PS4 Slim will arrive first, and it’ll actually be available on store shelves beginning September 15. Priced at $299, the PS4 Slim will include a 500GB Hard Drive and a considerably lighter profile:

The internal architecture of the new PS4 system has been revamped, reducing its volume by more than 30% compared to the previous models and reducing its weight by 25% and 16% compared to the first (CUH-1000 series) and current (CUH-1200 series) models respectively. Also, the new PS4 system is more energy efficient, as the power consumption has been cut by more than 34% and 28% compared to the very first and current models.

But the real star of the show was the PS4 Pro, which will launch on November 10. Priced at $399, the PS4 Pro will deliver an “enhanced experience” with a 1TB Hard Drive, support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) image processing (the PS4 Slim will also include HDR support), and 4K image resolution:

By boosting the performance and capability of the system architecture including the CPU and GPU, PS4 Pro allows games to deliver graphics with far more detail and unprecedented visual precision. Users with 4K TVs will be able to enjoy all PS4 titles in higher quality, such as 4K quality resolution and faster or more stable frame rates. In addition, PS4 Pro supports 4K video playback to deliver 4K streaming video services such as Netflix and YouTube.

The PS4 Pro will upconvert all PS4 games to 1080p, and according to the PlayStation Blog, some high-profile games will be further enhanced for the PS4 Pro including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Days Gone. But Sony was quick to reiterate that they have no plans to release any PS4 Pro-exclusive titles.

However, unlike the Xbox One S, the PS4 Pro won’t include a 4K UHD Drive for playback 4K UHD movies.

But the PS4 Pro is still an impressive package and it’ll be interesting to see if these higher-end mid-generation systems will be embraced by the gaming community.

CoD: Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Trailer is here… along with the announcement of a PS4 beta and an exclusive PlayStation VR mission

The first Multiplayer Trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare puts its focus on the many different Combat Rigs that players can wear into battle. From the “Mid-Range Assault” classification of the Warfighter Rig to the “Assassin” capabilities of the FTL Rig, these suits will give players plenty of options in Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer mode. Though players could also decide to dress down and go full-robot with the Synaptic Rig.

In addition to unveiling the first Multiplayer Trailer, Activision also confirmed that a beta test for Infinity Warfare will begin on October 14 for PS4 players who pre-ordered the game. An Xbox One beta test will be held at a later date.

Finally, Activision revealed that PS4 players will also get the chance to try out “Jackal Assault,” a special mission exclusively available for the PlayStation VR that “immerses fans in the cockpit and puts them in control of a Jackal, the personal fighter jet in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is in development at Infinity Ward and will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4.

Activision unveils first Multiplayer Trailer for CoD: Modern Warfare Remastered; All 16 multiplayer maps to be available by end of year

Publishers and developers from all over the world took over Seattle this weekend to party it up at PAX West, one of the biggest gaming conventions on the calendar. Rather than join them, Activision set up their own gaming convention in Los Angeles to celebrate the past, present, and future of the Call of Duty franchise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered hits all three rather nicely, and Activision used this weekend’s Call of Duty XP event to unveil the game’s first Multiplayer Trailer, which has been embedded above. Ten multiplayer maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be included in the game when it launches this Fall, and Activision has also promised that the remaining six maps will be made available (at no additional cost) by the end of the year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4, but you can only get it if you purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or Legacy Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

CoD: Infinite Warfare’s Zombies Mode goes back to the 80s with “Zombies In Spaceland”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s single-player campaign is blasting off for outer space, so it seems rather fitting that the game’s co-op Zombies Mode is going to Spaceland. Revealed today in a brand new trailer (which is embedded above), Infinity Ward is putting their spin on the famed Zombies Mode with an 80s-set adventure titled “Zombies In Spaceland.”

And to help set an appropriately 80s mood, Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Reubens and David Hasselhoff will make an appearance in “Zombies In Spaceland” alongside a comedic ensemble cast, as confirmed by the Activision Games Blog:

Zombies in Spaceland tells the story of four aspiring actors who come upon a mysterious movie theater for an audition. They’ve been invited by director Willard Wyler, portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens, who was once the shining star of the horror genre. Unbeknownst to the actors, they will be transformed into the movie characters onscreen and transported straight into Wyler’s film to fight against an all-new variety of zombies in an 80s theme park.

You’ll play as one of four 80s movie-inspired characters: The Jock, The Nerd, The Valley Girl, or The Rapper. The characters are voiced by a comedic ensemble cast, including Seth Green, Ike Barinholtz, Jay Pharoah, and Sasheer Zamata.

To guide you through the onslaught of the undead (while providing a killer soundtrack as you battle), you’ll want to keep an eye out for the Spaceland DJ, portrayed with voice and likeness by David Hasselhoff. He’s sure to be an invaluable resource to help you get you out of this horror movie alive.

Players who pre-order Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will receive a bonus package of zombie-hunting gear courtesy of the Zombies In Spaceland Pack, which will contain a Zombies Weapon Camo and Reticle, an Animated Zombies Playercard, and a Fate & Fortune Card Pack. But if you want to get a good look at “Zombies In Spaceland” before you put your money down, tune in to Activision’s reveal stream tomorrow at 12:00 noon (Eastern Time) on Twitch.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4.

See ship-to-ship combat IN SPACE from Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Even though they’re one of the world’s most-profitable publishers, Activision doesn’t host their own E3 Press Conference. Instead, the company has always partnered with Microsoft or Sony to promote their latest projects on gaming’s biggest stage. Things weren’t any different this year as Sony presented a brand new gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare during their showcase.

In the trailer, fans of the franchise can watch as Call of Duty goes into space for the first time. Players will be able to take part in ship-to-ship dogfighting and even eject from their fighter to breach an enemy ship.

The trailer ends with a sneak peek at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, along with an offer for PS4 owners to get it early. Anyone who pre-purchases the Digital Deluxe Edition or Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare will receive access to Modern Warfare Remastered’s campaign on October 5. But even if you pre-purchase, you’ll have to wait until the official launch day to jump online in a multiplayer match.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released for the PS4 on November 4. It’ll also be available for the PC and Xbox One (alongside Modern Warfare Remastered) on the same day.

Kit Harrington will play “The Face of the Enemy” in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

callofdutyinfinitewarfare-header

Everyone seems to love the absolutely-most-definitely-not-dead Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. Kit Harrington doesn’t have many other credits to his name, but that’s about to change, as the actor has signed on to portray “The Face of the Enemy” in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

“Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro,” said Taylor Kurosaki, the Narrative Director at Infinity Ward. “Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can’t wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character.”

Harrington’s motion-capture performance was actually directed by Guy Ritchie, who previously recruited his Sherlock Holmes buddy, Robert Downey Jr., for Call of Duty: Black Ops II‘s live-action trailer.

“Guy Ritchie is a friend of the franchise, so it was great to have him back to work with us, assisting in bringing Kit Harington’s character to life in Infinite Warfare,” added Infinity Ward’s Studio Head, Dave Stohl. “It meant a lot to us to develop the role into everything it could be. We’re excited about the performance Kit delivered and can’t wait to get it out to the public. We’re committed to delivering a compelling story with rich character depth, and this was a special opportunity to add to our fantastic cast.”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is scheduled for a November 4th release on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We’ll get a closer look at the game during next week’s E3 Expo, probably during Sony’s E3 Press Conference on Monday.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will not be available as a standalone download

callofduty-logo-header

The Call of Duty news continues to roll on today, and now we’ve learned that Activision has no plans to sell Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone download. According to an FAQ on the publisher’s official website, Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available as an add-on bonus bundled with special edition copies of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare:

6. How can I get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available through the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

7. Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?
No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

The Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe Editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are all priced at a $20 premium over the standard edition, so if you want Modern Warfare Remastered, it looks like you’re going to have to pay extra for it. However, the FAQ’s wording doesn’t rule out the possibility that it’ll be available as a standalone download at a later date. But for now, the only way to make sure you receive a copy is to purchase a pricey special edition of Infinite Warfare.
