Marvel and Activision team up for Deadpool game

So what happened to Hit-Monkey?

Activision and High Moon Studios just debuted their Marvel Comics-inspired game at Comic-Con and it doesn’t have anything to do with a simian assassin. Instead, it stars the Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool! Suck it Internets, Warp Zoned’s Andrew Rainnie totally called it.

The Deadpool game is currently scheduled for a 2013 release and, if the trailer above is any indication, it’ll be totally awesome. A bit more information and images of Deadpool kicking ass and enjoying chimichangas can be found at the game’s official website.

So now the question is, how does Hit-Monkey fit into all this? Is a separate Hit-Monkey game still in development? Or maybe he’ll appear in the Deadpool game as a boss/playable character? Or was it just a practical joke?

The world may never know.

Gears of War: Judgment will be released on March 19, 2013

Rod Fergusson, Director of Production at Epic Games, had a chat with G4TV’s X-Play yesterday at Comic-Con. During their talk, the cable news show learned that Gears of War: Judgment will be available in stores in March 2013, breaking with the franchise’s traditional Fall release window.

As you can see, that’s the only Gears of War: Judgment information that Epic and People Can Fly were interested in announcing.

UPDATE: Epic Games has just announced that Gears of War: Judgment will be released on March 19, 2013 during their Comic-Con panel.

Cyborg, Nightwing join the cast of Injustice: Gods Among Us

NetherRealm slowly dripfed gamers the complete character roster to the Mortal Kombat reboot and it looks like they plan to do the same thing with their next game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. A playable demo of the game available during Comic-Con’s preview night revealed that Cyborg and Nightwing will be joining the game.

So Cyborg is Jax and Nightwing is Jade, right?

High Moon’s Marvel game will star Hit-Monkey

We’ll never know if it was a planned “leak” or a simple mistake, but the website HitMonkeyGame.com (now offline) has revealed the much rumoured Marvel character that High Moon Studios will be tackling for their next game, and it is bananas. Literally.

The site confirmed that the developer of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be bringing the little known character Hit-Monkey to the world of gaming. It is an odd, perhaps bold move, given that Hit-Monkey first appeared as recently as 2010 in a Marvel digital one-shot by comic book writer Daniel Way. The killer Japanese Macaque later appeared in a three-issue Deadpool story also written by Way and featuring everyone’s favourite wallcrawler, Spider-Man.

With a larger announcement scheduled for this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, we’re sure to find out more soon. But the monkey is well and truly out the bag… unless High Moon is playing a nasty trick on the video games community and is secretly making the Deadpool game we are all dying for.

Sony sets release date for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale; Heichachi and Sony Cat added

Sony made two announcements about their Smash Bros.-like PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale this weekend. First, they’ve given it a release date of October 23 on the PS3 and Vita. They also revealed a nifty pre-order bonus: an exclusive bonus costume for every character. It’s just too bad only eight characters have been announced so far.

That leads to their second announcement though.

Sony has revealed two more characters that’ll be joining the Battle Royale roster: Tekken‘s Heihachi Mishima and Toro Inoue, better known to western gamers as the lovable Sony Cat.

More characters will be revealed soon, including at least one announcement during this week’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Activision, High Moon to announce next-gen Marvel game at Comic-Con 2012

High Moon Studios, an Activision internal development team, will announce their next game at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con during the “Marvel Video Games” panel on Saturday, July 14.

The panel’s description is woefully short on details, but several LinkedIn profiles have offered up a few more details about the unannounced game. According to Senior Game Designer J.R. Vosovic, the game is in development for “next-gen” systems. We also know that the project is being headed up by Game Director Sean Miller, who was previously in charge of the team that created Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

In addition to the recently released Amazing Spider-Man game, Activision has published multiple titles based on Marvel Comics characters this generation including the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X-Men: Destiny.

Get your first look at the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn teaser trailer

Microsoft’s “Halo studio,” 343 Industries, is hard at work on this Fall’s Halo 4, which is the start of a brand new trilogy starring the Master Chief. But they’re also hard at work on the live-action episodic series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which will also make its debut this Fall.

Over the weekend, Machinima unveiled the first Forward Unto Dawn teaser trailer, which you can view above.

It’s not quite a Halo movie, but I am definitely excited to learn more about Forward Unto Dawn at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which begins on July 12.

TriForce to debut limited edition Catwoman Replica Trophy at Comic-Con

Not content with creating a full scale replica of Batman: Arkham City’s Batarang and a standard Riddler Trophy, the geniuses at Project TriForce have created a limited edition Catwoman Trophy exclusively for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

The Pink Catwoman Riddler Trophy Full Scale Replica is hand-finished and hand-painted to precision quality. Intricately crafted and cast in polystone, it measures 19″ in height, weighs in at 8 pounds, and features working LED effects!

While not ready just yet (if the big question mark didn’t give it away), the company will be taking pre-orders at the event with delivery sometime in late 2012. Although quite pricey at $400, it will be a limited edition piece, with only 100 being made. Those unable to attend Comic Con may still have a chance to pre-order one via TriForce’s online newsletter.

So pre-order it before she steals them all!
