Dragon Quest Builders 2 will make its way to the PC on December 10
It looks like Dragon Quest Builders 2, Square Enix’s second attempt at melding an RPG-style adventure with Minecraft‘s building and crafting mechanics, will be available to download for the PC (via Steam) on December 10:
Dragon Quest Builders 2, the critically acclaimed block-building RPG from Dragon Quest series creators Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama is coming to Steam on December 10th, 2019!
Create your customized character, team-up with your fearless friend Malroth, gather the skills required to become a full-fledged builder, and combat the Children of Hargon, a vile cult that worships destruction! Then, take your builder online and join your friends to collaborate and create something truly magnificent.
Originally released for the PS4 and Switch earlier this year, Dragon Quest Builders 2’s PC launch will include the base game, as well as all the new content from the game’s Season Pass (be on the lookout for more “Recipes, Hairstyles, Clothing, and new areas to explore”).
Players who purchase the game by January 6th will also receive a six-pack of bonus Recipes to further customize their game.

Nintendo will publish Dragon Quest Builders 2 for the Switch in 2019
Nintendo has confirmed that they’ve signed on to publish Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Builders 2 for the Switch in 2019. The news was quietly delivered to fans as part of their most-recent quarterly financial report, which was released this morning.
Dragon Quest Builders combined the crafting mechanic popularized by Minecraft with the core gameplay of an Action RPG (and a plotline that echoed the original Dragon Quest). Launching for the PS4 and Vita in 2016, it eventually found its way to the Switch (and big sales success) earlier this year. The sequel will continue this kitchen sink approach, while taking its plot cues from Dragon Quest II.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be released by Square Enix in Japan this December. The game is also in development for the PS4, and it’ll presumably make its worldwide debut in 2019 as well, though it obviously won’t be published by Nintendo.
Square Enix will bring Dragon Quest Builders 2 to the PS4 and Switch
Square Enix hosted the Dragon Quest Summer Festival this weekend in Japan, and as part of the festivities, the publisher announced that Dragon Quest Builders 2 is in the works for the PS4 and Switch.
The sequel will retain the Minecraft-like qualities of the original Dragon Quest Builders, while also adding a four-player cooperative multiplayer option. Players will also get to play with even more blocks, and venture under the sea (with a new diving ability) and go soaring through the air (in a hang glider).
Square Enix didn’t announce a launch date for Dragon Quest Builders 2, but as of now, the game is only officially in development for a Japanese release. Hopefully, a North American announcement is forthcoming, but in the meantime, some early gameplay footage of the game has been embedded above.
