Sony @ E3 13: The Walking Dead coming to Vita this Summer
Sony Computer Entertainment America President Jack Tretton has announced that Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead will be available on the Vita this Summer. In addition to the First Season of the award-winning episodic adventure game, the latest downloadable episode, The Walking Dead: 400 Days, will be coming to the Vita this Summer. A special Walking Dead Vita system bundle will also be available this Summer.
Presumably, The Walking Dead: 400 Days will be available on additional platforms such as the PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and iOS this Summer as well, but that’s currently unknown.
Insomniac working on Xbox One-exclusive Sunset Overdrive
I’m not exactly sure I know what’s going on in this trailer for Sunset Overdrive, an Xbox One-exclusive multiplayer shooter developed by Insomniac Games, but I think “slackers versus mutants” sums it up:
Sunset Overdrive is an always-changing, open-world shooter set in the not-so-distant future. A catastrophic event has left your city overrun by mutants. While the majority perish or transform, you flourish. It turns out your calling isn’t picking up trash or serving food, it’s mutant destruction. With an arsenal of explosive, overpowered weapons and a knack for traversing the city with hyperagility, it’s not the end of days for you. Available for future release, your story is just starting.
Sunset Overdrive is currently without a release date, but my guess is it’ll be released sometime in 2014.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is a next-gen MMO that proves Ubisoft is scared of everything
Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs at last year’s E3 Expo and made the world scared of the “all seeing eye” that is the interconnected computer systems of a modern city. This year, they’ve gone one further and announced Tom Clancy’s The Division, a multiplayer online action RPG developed by Massive Entertainment for the PS4 and Xbox One that chronicles a nationwide pandemic with paper money at the zero point:
The Division takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus, released on Black Friday, has swept through the city. One by one, basic services have failed. Society has collapsed into chaos. The President invokes Presidential Directive 51, and The Division, a top-secret unit of self-supporting tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives, Division agents are trained to operate independently of command in this type of emergency situation. When the lights go out, their mission begins.
So according to Watch Dogs, credit cards are evil. And according to The Division, paper money will be our downfall. Thanks for that, Ubisoft! As if I didn’t worry about the future enough as it is.
You can definitely see the stylistic similarities between the debut trailers for Tom Clancy’s The Division and Watch Dogs, but you can check out the former’s hybird RPG/shooter style in a seven-minute gameplay trailer after the break. (more…)
Mirror’s Edge reboot coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One “when it’s ready”
Have Faith… Electronic Arts and DICE have announced a new Mirror’s Edge game is in development for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. But don’t expect to play it anytime soon as the game is described as being in the “early stages” and will be released “when it’s ready.”
“We introduced Mirror’s Edge and Faith to gamers five years ago, and we’ve waited for the right moment to reunite them,” said Sara Jansson, Senior Producer at DICE. “Thanks to the Frostbite engine and a new generation of platforms, we are now able to deliver a richer world that players will be able to explore with a new level of freedom in both movement and action.”
The Mirror’s Edge reboot (EA is refusing to call it a sequel) will tell “an all-new origin story for Faith.” Currently, it’s unclear how the original game’s story will fit into the rebooted Mirror’s Edge universe. The “origin story” logline points towards this game being a prequel. But then where does all the reboot talk fit?
But it’s coming, that’s the important thing.
DICE-developed Star Wars: Battlefront announced at E3 2013
Electronic Arts executives have been dropping hints about a DICE-developed entry in the Battlefront series ever since their acquisition of the Star Wars license last month. Today, during EA’s E3 2013 Press Conference, that possibility has become a reality. Known only as Star Wars: Battlefront, here’s what we know:
- It’s in development at DICE LA.
- It won’t be released this year
- And that it’ll include the Battle of Hoth in some way.
Yes, this is probably the 37th video game recreation of the famous opening from The Empire Strikes Back, but why not? After all, it’s the first time we’ll get to pilot a snowspeeder in glorious high definition.
Summer of Arcade 2013: Charlie Murder, TMNT Out of the Shadows, Brothers, Flashback
Microsoft has announced the four games that will make up this year’s Summer of Arcade:
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (505 Games)
- Charlie Murder (Microsoft Studios)
- Flashback (Ubisoft)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (Activision)
2013 is the sixth straight year that Microsoft has held the Summer of Arcade promotion and this year’s crop of games certainly brings something new to the table (the co-op adventuring of Brothers and the cartoonish mayhem of Charlie Murder) while also bringing back something old (the Flashback remake and the return of the heroes in a half-shell).
The Summer of Arcade begins on August 7, but release dates and prices for this year’s slate will be announced at a later date. A Summer of Arcade 2013 trailer can be found after the break. (more…)

Here it is, the epic trailer for Halo 5 where the Master Chief is Lawrence of Arabia and the giant spaceship that emerges from the desert floor is his… I’m not sure… it’s been a while since I watched Lawrence of Arabia.
Halo 5 is in development at 343 Industries and will be released for the Xbox One in 2014.
