MS @ E3 13: Xbox One launching in November for $499
Prepare your wallet. Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will be released in “21 markets” this November for $499. US, European gamers will have to €499, while Xbox fans in the UK will be charged £429 for an Xbox One.
The Xbox One’s $499 price is a $100 premium over the Xbox 360, which launched with a price of $399 (for the 20 GB version) in 2006.
MS @ E3 13: Halo 5 coming to Xbox One in 2014
Are you surprised? No, of course you’re not. But Microsoft and 343 Industries announced Halo 5 today during their E3 Press Conference courtesy of a truly epic trailer.
343 Industries’ Bonnie Ross has confirmed the game will run at 60 FPS and use the Xbox One’s cloud computing features to enhance gameplay in new ways.
Halo 5 (though currently not referred to as Halo 5) will be released in 2014.
MS @ E3 13: Capybara bringing Below to Xbox One
Capybara, the developers behind Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, will be bringing Below to the Xbox One. The game, which features music by Jim Guthrie, is part of the “rogue-like” genre and looks ridiculously low-tech compared to the rest of Microsoft’s Press Conference presentation.
Below does not currently have a release date.
MS @ E3 13: Dead Rising 3 announced as Xbox One exclusive
Dead Rising 3 is exclusively coming to the Xbox One. The game will star a new main character, Nick Ramos, and take place in the dusty border town of Los Perdidos.
Dead Rising 3 looks to add more zombies to the series than ever before and more gunplay too. But don’t worry, improvised melee weapons (like a mini-chainsaw) are still available. Owing to its “open world” nature, Dead Rising 3 will also include a much bigger emphasis on vehicles than ever before. And SmartGlass support will allow players to perform bigger actions such as calling in an air strike.
Capcom Vancouver showed the first gameplay footage of Dead Rising 3 during the Microsoft Press Conference and it matches up pretty closely with a rumor report from December 2011. So Dead Rising 3 has probably been in development for a few years now.
It’s scheduled to be a launch title for the Xbox One.
MS @ E3 13: Microsoft teams with Swery65 for D4
Microsoft is bringing a noirish episodic adventure series directed by Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro (the mad genius behind Deadly Premonition) to the Xbox One. The cel-shaded D4 will be available exclusively for the Xbox One and, at this point, it’s unknwon if it’s connected in any way to the three games of the D series (which were originally released on a half-dozen different platforms including the PC, PSone, and Dreamcast).
MS @ E3 13: Killer Instinct confirmed for Xbox One
This is both a surprise and not a surprise, but Microsoft has announced that a new Killer Instinct is in development for the Xbox One.
I’d say this certainly qualifies as the resurrection of an “historic” property from Rare. Killer Instinct will be available for the Xbox One this year.
MS @ E3 13: Minecraft: Xbox One Edition announced
Microsoft’s Phil Harrison has just announced that Minecraft will be coming to the Xbox One. Mojang’s sensation will have “bigger worlds” and “more multiplayer.”
No release date was announced for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.
