Crystal Dynamics to announce “New Game” (cough Tomb Raider 2 cough) at E3 2014
GameTrailers has published the complete schedule for their “All Access” E3 2014 coverage and it looks like we’ll be getting our first look at Tomb Raider 2 next week. Or should that be Tomb Raider 10? What is the correct numbering scheme to use for an unannounced sequel to the reboot of a long-running franchise?
Anyway, the reveal will occur during GameTrailers’ “All Access” coverage at 2:00 PM (Eastern) on Monday, June 9. According to the show’s description, Crystal Dynamics will make a “new game announcement” during the telecast, carefully evading the use of the words “Tomb” and “Raider.” However, Phil Rogers, the CEO of Square Enix Europe, confirmed that the game was in the works last year, so what else could it be?
Unless Crystal Dynamics is resurrecting the Legacy of Kain series. Hmm, as much as I loved 2013’s Tomb Raider, can I change my answer to that?
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel celebrates release date with moon dance trailer
In honor of announcing the October 14 release date for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (and the imminent 2014 E3 Expo), 2K has released this awesome new trailer featuring a moon dance. Yes, you heard me right: a moon dance. Watch the trailer above to see it in its full glory. While it’s no Doomsday trailer from Borderlands 2 (that trailer STILL gives me chills), it’s still pretty great.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on October 14.
Shovel Knight will be released on June 26
I’ve been digging things up all Spring to prepare myself, and now, Yacht Club Games has announced that Shovel Knight has passed certification and is finally ready for release. Their retro-styled platformer will be released as a digital download for the PC (via Steam), Wii U, and 3DS on June 26.
In anticipation of Shovel Knight’s pending release, Yacht Club has revealed the game’s official box art and given everyone a sneak peek at the NES-inspired instruction manual via their official website. In the coming weeks, some of the game’s Kickstarter backers will receive physical copies of both.
And if you’re attending next week’s E3 Expo, you might run into members of the Yacht Club team on the show floor. And if you ask nicely, they’ll hand you a 3DS with Shovel Knight on it.
Continue Countdown #5 – Mortal Kombat X, Forza Horizon 2, Pre-E3 Predictions, More
It’s the most wonderful time of the year as the 2014 E3 Expo is right around the corner. The Warp Zoned staff spent a recent night chatting about some of the big pre-E3 announcements during the latest episode of “Continue Countdown.” We pre-pre-judged Mortal Kombat X, Homefront: The Revolution, Forza Horizon 2, BattleCry, Battlefield Hardline, and Hyrule Warriors in the first six segments of the show.
But we also wanted to worry and fret over a trio of delayed games (Batman: Arkham Knight, The Order: 1886, and Quantum Break) as well as speculate about what a Smash Bros.-style Mario Kart game would be like (spoiler alert: it would be AWESOME). And the eternal question (How much would you pay for an E.T. cartridge excavated from a landfill?) was answered.
Finally, we slipped a few E3 predictions in there. We’re probably way off the mark, but it’s that magical pre-E3 time when anything seems possible.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will begin stalking store shelves on February 24
CD Projekt RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 24 in two different editions.
The standard edition will include the game, a soundtrack CD, a softcover book exploring the game’s lore (“Witcher Universe – The Compendium”), a sticker pack, and a map of the game world. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition includes everything from the standard edition as well as a giant statue of Geralt battling a Griffin, a collector’s medallion, a 200-page artbook, and a SteelBook case. A price tag for the Collector’s Edition wasn’t announced.
If you need more witchery this afternoon, CD Projekt RED has also unveiled the game’s E3 2014 trailer, which is entitled “The Sword of Destiny.” Be sure to check out the trailer above and you can get a closer look at the standard edition and the Collector’s Edition after the break. (more…)
Rejoice! EarthNight is coming to PS4, Vita
Great news, everyone! Cleaversoft’s amazing runner, EarthNight, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita. The company made the announcement yesterday, and the composer, Chipocrite, followed up by releasing this incredible EP in honor of the reveal. I’ll take a moment to say that Cleaversoft and Chipocrite are both from Philadelphia. Philly represent!
The video above is the E3 demo gameplay trailer, and the game will be playable at Sony’s booth next week. EarthNight will be released “when it’s done,” and trust me, people: it’s worth the wait. The game will launch on PS4 first, then on iOS, Android, Vita, Mac, and PC.
Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley will be released for 3DS this year
Developer Natsume announced that they’ll be releasing a new title in the Harvest Moon series, entitled Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. It will be launching on the 3DS later this year, and is not to be confused with XSEED’s Story of Seasons, which is the true sequel to previous Harvest Moon games (Natsume owns the US trademark to Harvest Moon, so The Lost Valley is technically the first game in a brand new series).
President and CEO of Natsume, Hiro Maekawa, said “Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley is truly evolving the franchise. Hardcore fans will love it, players who haven’t played a Harvest Moon game in a while will want to try it out, and new players will be introduced to the unique and charming world that is Harvest Moon… But the incredibly exciting thing that really elevates the game is that while it does get back to what everyone loves about the early games, it also innovates in a way that no Harvest Moon game ever has.”
In The Lost Valley, you can customize your field however you want, with plenty of options in a world that is fully customizable. Fans of the series who will be at E3 next week can check the game out at Booth #615. Check out the full press release after the jump.

Tetris Ultimate set for a Summer release on PS4, Xbox One; PC version to follow in Fall
Are you ready to play the ultimate version of Tetris? I hope so, because Ubisoft plans to release Tetris Ultimate as a digital download for the PS4 and Xbox One this Summer. The game will also be available through PC download services in the Fall.
Tetris Ultimate will include six modes (Marathon, Endless, Ultra, Sprint, Battle, and Power-Up Battle) and multiplayer play for up to four people. We’ll get an extended look at the game next week during the E3 Expo and members of the public who make it down to Ubisoft’s Uplay Lounge at The Standard hotel will be able to try it out for themselves.
I have just one question, how has a Tetris game never used “Ultimate” as a subtitle before this?
