Just Dance 2017 is dancing its way to every platform this October (and the NX next year)
The Just Dance franchise just can’t stop, and Ubisoft announced the next entry in the series will be available this October. Just Dance 2017 will be released for the… deep breath… PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. But wait, there’s more. Just Dance 2017 will be available for the PC as well, a first for the franchise, and it’ll also be released for Nintendo’s NX console next year.
Just Dance 2017 will feature the brand new Just Dance Machine mode on the PC, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One, which Ubisoft said is a “fun and frantic dance experience that will have players testing their skills through a variety of dance types including flamenco, ballet, and the cancan.” Returning modes include Sweat + Playlists, Just Dance Quest, Just Dance TV, and World Dance Floor.
But what will players bust a move to this year? The first 11 confirmed songs include:
- Justin Bieber – “Sorry”
- Psy (featuring CL of 2NE1) – “Daddy”
- Sia (featuring Sean Paul) – “Cheap Thrills”
- Major Lazer (featuring MØ & DJ Snake) – “Lean On”
- Fifth Harmony (featuring Kid Ink) – “Worth It”
- Queen – “Don’t Stop Me Now”
- Hatsune Miku – “PoPiPo”
- Dyro & Dannic – “Radical”
- Maluma – “El Tiki”
- Equinox Stars – “September”
- Ultraclub 90 – “What Is Love”
Ubisoft will also release a Gold Edition of Just Dance 2017, which features a three-month subscription to the Just Dance Unlimited streaming service. And the PC, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One versions of the game will once again be compatible with the Controller App for smartphones.
Gameplay videos for all 11 confirmed tracks can be found after the break. (more…)
Trials of the Blood Dragon is the most radical post-apocalyptic BMX game ever
Three years ago, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon blew everyone away by combining the neon-soaked aesthetics of direct-to-video schlock from the 80s with the first-person shooting of Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise. So I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that a similarly insane mashup has lead to a sequel at the 2016 E3 Expo.
Ubisoft recruited RedLynx to create Trials of the Blood Dragon, a mixture of side-scrolling stunt cycling and the absolutely cracked worldview of the Blood Dragon franchise. I’ll let the UbiBlog do the talking:
It’s been 12 years since the neon-drenched events of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and only the cybercommando children of Rex Power Colt can win Vietnam War 4. Where their father fought evil soldiers and hulking Blood Dragons in a first-person shooter, however, they’re taking a different approach, waging battle while pulling off sick stunts with a motorbike – as well as with a BMX, an eight-wheeled tank, a minecart, a jetpack, a turbo flip R/C car, a grappling hook, and their own cyber-enhanced legs.
Combining the hyperstylized attitude and shooting of Blood Dragon with the demanding, physics-based motocross platforming of Trials and a soundtrack by Power Glove, Trials of the Blood Dragon creates something wholly unique, putting Colt’s twin son and daughter through a 30-mission storyline in which they’ll blast their way through Vietnam, Miami, Japan, a lost temple, outer space, and even Hell.
Oh, and Trials of the Blood Dragon is now available to download on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
You can run… but you can’t hide… from this Friday the 13th gameplay trailer at E3 2016
With Mrs. Voorhees encouraging him every step of the way, Jason Voorhees ruthlessly stalks the counselors at Camp Crystal Lake in the first gameplay trailer for Friday the 13th. Jointly developed by Gun Media and Illfonic, Friday the 13th is a 7v1 asymmetrical multiplayer title where one player takes control of the unstoppable killing machine, and the remaining players hide as helpless camp counselors.
In the E3 2016 trailer embedded above, we can see Jason using his teleportation powers to warp to a counselor’s location. But the counselors can try to fool Jason, as you can one attempts to open a window and then hide under the bed. Unfortunately, your average camp bed isn’t machete-proof.
Friday the 13th is currently in development for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and should be released sometime this Fall.
ReCore will be released for the PC and Xbox One as a Play Anywhere title on September 13
Microsoft has announced that ReCore, the collaboration between Keiji Inafune’s Comcept and Armature Studio, will be released for the PC and Xbox One on September 13. It will also be one of the first games to be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, which lets players buy a game once and play it on both their Windows 10 PC and Xbox One with shared progress, game saves, and Achievements.
ReCore is a game that has a lot in common with Keiji Infune’s famed Mega Man series. In fact, it even shares some DNA with Maverick Hunter, a failed first-person Mega Man project that Armature was working on a few years ago.
In the E3 2016 trailer above, we’re introduced to Joule, one of the last human survivors of Far Eden, and her many robotic companions. There’s Mack, a dog-like explorer; Seth, a spider-legged escape artist; and Duncan, the gorilla-ish heavy hitter. Players will pair up with these bots to navigate Far Eden’s hostile environments on an adventure to save mankind.
When ReCore is released on September 13, it’ll be available in both a Standard Edition (Retail Price: $39.99) and a Limited Collector’s Edition (Retail Price: $179.99). In addition to a copy of the game, the Collector’s Edition will include 14-inch statues of Joule and Mack, designed and sculpted by TriForce. Regardless of which edition you buy, everyone who pre-orders ReCore will receive a digital download of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for the Xbox 360 (which is also playable on the Xbox One).
Frank West goes back to the mall in Dead Rising 4 this Christmas
Nowadays, the average mall is a pretty desolate place filled with just a few lethargic customers, but a really good shopping center can still knock ’em dead. And that’s just the way Frank West likes them.
Frank is back this Fall in Dead Rising 4, which was officially announced for the PC and Xbox One today during Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference. While rumors have pointed to Frank’s return for a few weeks now, it’s nice to know for sure.
In addition to the announcement trailer embedded above, the Capcom-Unity blog shared a few details about Frank’s new assignment and the new zombies he’ll face:
Frank is back in Willamette, Colorado sixteen years after the events of the original Dead Rising. A mysterious outbreak has overrun the Willamette Memorial Megaplex Mall and surrounding town with deadly predators and Frank soon realizes that what’s dead doesn’t always stay that way.
As Frank seeks to uncover the truth behind the outbreak, he will face new undead enemies, including the Fresh – newly zombified victims that will turn in front of his eyes and exhibit superior speed and ferocity, and the Evo – zombies with superior strength and mobility that mimic the behavior of predatory hunting animals.
He’s covered wars, and Frank will be able to become a one-man-army in Dead Rising 4. In addition to his weapon creation skills, Frank can don an EXO Suit and deliver a superpowered punch to the undead.
Dead Rising 4 will include online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players when it launches this Fall, but Capcom has promised we’ll learn more about the game this Summer.
Doom demo will be available for one week only; SnapMap and multiplayer updates incoming
After disappearing from the gaming landscape for nearly a decade, Doom is back, and id Software’s reboot/sequel is a huge hit with gamers everywhere. But owing to the franchise’s shareware past, the developer wants to invite everyone to try out a free demo of Doom’s first level, which is now available to download on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. But there’s a catch, the demo will only be available this week.
If you already own Doom, id Software is planning a number of new additions to the game. The SnapMap feature will be expanded with a new “Hell” visual theme, along with new props, objects, weapons, and items. New functionality will also be added to SnapMap to allow for the creation of “true single-player experiences.”
Over on the multiplayer side, id Software has brought the development of the game’s multiplayer mode in-house, and will release two new modes in the coming weeks: Exodus (Capture the Flag) and a “multi-zone capture and hold mode” known as Sector. And later this Summer, three Free-For-All modes will be added to Doom’s multiplayer, including Classic Deathmatch.
The developer is also working on Doom’s first premium DLC Map Pack, Unto the Evil, which will be available next month. Unto the Evil will include three new maps (“Offering,” “Cataclysm,” and “Ritual”), as well as a new demon (The Harvester), gun, equipment item, armor set, and more.
All SnapMap and multiplayer updates will be available for free, but the Unto the Evil Map Pack is a paid download.
Prey 2 is in development at Arkane Austin as a completely new game
The Prey franchise lives… but we are a long way from the original live-action trailer for Prey 2. But I suppose there’s a reason for that, as development on Prey 2 has completely shifted to Arkane Studios in Austin and they’ve decided to drop the numeral. So get ready for a second helping of Prey.
This time around, the action takes place in 2032 aboard the Talos 1, a deep space exploration vessel. But unfortunately, humanity isn’t in charge of the station and malevolent aliens have taken over in a bid to find out what makes us tick (just like the Strangers in Dark City). Thankfully, Morgan Yu is ready to fight back:
You are Morgan Yu, the subject of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. You awaken aboard the Talos 1 in the year 2032 and must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over. You’ll have to rely on the tools you find on the station – along with your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities – to combat the growing threat and, hopefully, survive.
Prey will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime next year.
Bethesda reveals Fallout 4 add-ons, Fallout Shelter for PC, and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition for PC, PS4, Xbox One
Bethesda’s Game Director, Todd Howard, delivered an update on the studio’s future projects at the publisher’s E3 Press Conference tonight. And that includes three upcoming add-ons for Fallout 4 that might be closer to release than you realize.
First up is Contraptions, an add-on that’ll let players build wildly-connected do-hickeys such as elevators, track kits, sorting machines, and conveyor belts. Players will also be able to adorn their settlements with armor and weapon racks, and they’ll be able to do it beginning next week. In July, the Vault-Tec Workshop add-on will be released, which will set players… wait for it… build their own Vaults and experiment on dwellers. Finally, in August, Bethesda will launch Nuka-World, the final major expansion for Fallout 4.
But wait, Howard wasn’t done yet. He also revealed that Fallout Shelter will be released for the PC this July, and the oft-rumored The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be remastered for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 28.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition will include a ton of enhanced graphical tricks including remastered art effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections, new snow shaders, and new water shaders.
Oh, and PS4 and Xbox One owners will be able to play mods in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition as well.
