EA Sports UFC 2 gets a March 15 release date and a new gameplay trailer
EA Sports announced today that EA Sports UFC 2 will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One on March 15. With a release date in place, the publisher is also ready to open pre-orders for EA Sports UFC 2. Players who purchase the game before March 15 will receive access to a trio of additional fighters including Bas Rutten, “The Gracie Hunter” Kazushi Sakuraba, and a “Mystery Fighter” to be named later. A Deluxe Edition, priced at $69.99, that includes up to $60 of UFC Ultimate Team Premium Packs will also be available.
“Whether fans want to play upcoming cards, recreate the outcome of recent fights, or go back to fight with MMA legends, we’ll help them do that in the most authentic and exciting way ever in an MMA simulation,” said Brian Hayes, the Creative Director at EA Canada. “Our first two pre-order fighters, Bas Rutten and Kazushi Sakuraba are perfect additions to what is already the biggest roster ever for an official UFC game. Adding them is huge, and fans are going to go nuts when we reveal who the mystery fighter is. I can’t wait.”
EA Sports also released a new gameplay trailer to get gamers excited to step into the Octagon once more this Spring. It’s been embedded above.
Ronda Rousey will appear on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2 next Spring
Ronda Rousey is probably the biggest name in mixed martial arts right now (even after her loss to Holly Holm on Saturday), so it makes perfect sense that Electronic Arts has christened her the cover athlete for EA Sports UFC 2.
“EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment,” said Rousey. “As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.”
In addition to an improved Knockout Physics System and more realistic graphics, EA has promised to add five brand new game modes to EA Sports UFC 2 including KO Mode, UFC Ultimate Team, a revamped Career/Create-A-Fighter Mode (male or female), and Grapple Assist, “an integrated visual tool to help players learn and perfect takedowns, ground game transitions, and submissions.”
Set to be released for the PS4 and Xbox One in Spring 2016, EA Sports UFC 2 is currently in development at EA Canada.
EA will release EA Sports UFC 2 for PS4, Xbox One in Spring 2016
Electronic Arts is stepping back into the Octagon next Spring with the release of EA Sports UFC 2 for the PS4 and Xbox One. The publisher’s second attempt at a mixed martial arts simulation will be revealed in full on Friday, but a newly released “Vision Trailer” hints at their expectations for the game.
Narrated by Creative Director Brian Hayes, the video says that EA “made it a priority to sharpen our fundamentals” before work began on UFC 2. The development has employed this back to basics approach in the hopes of creating “the smoothest, most responsive set of movements in an MMA game” with “thousands of new animations.”
EA Sports UFC 2 will also include “a host of new online and offline experiences,” which we’ll likely learn about on Friday.
