All Articles: Exit the Gungeon
An expanded version of Exit the Gungeon is now available for the Switch and PC
Fans of Dodge Roll’s Gungeonverse will be pleased to know that they can finally Exit the Gungeon on the PC and Switch.
Announced today as part of Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase, the side-scrolling shooter is now available for both platforms in an expanded version that includes new weapons, items, and enemies, a revamped Gungeon, and rebalanced gameplay:
New Weapons, Items, Enemies, and Bosses – Jump into battle with dozens of upgraded weapons and new items like the Spiked Boots, while striking down new Gundead foes including the Minecart Shotgun Kin, Bullet Cardinal, and Flying Fungun. Watch out for the return of the legendary Jammed enemy variants…
Revamped Gungeon with New Rooms and Elevators – Square off in a dramatically redesigned Gungeon with improved room variety, increased room size, and many updated and devious elevators. With this increased variety, we’ve expanded Exit the Gungeon runs to more closely match Enter the Gungeon’s playtimes.
Rebalanced and Reloaded Gameplay – Massive changes to how the game spawns and places enemies, and an increased challenge level to match what veteran Gungeoneers have come to expect. An overhauled combo system yields better guns faster and throws down more money to reward Gungeoneers for fantastic combo runs.
Hats, Minigames, and Gungeon Dwellers – Look sharp with new character-specific hats as you tackle redesigned minigames and chat up a host of NPCs with new interactions and quests.
And don’t worry, Apple Arcade subscribers will also be able to download this new update for Exit the Gungeon beginning today.
Finally, a charming new trailer for Exit the Gungeon has been embedded above.
Dodge Roll confirms that Exit the Gungeon will be released for PC and consoles in Early 2020
Dodge Roll Games started 2020 off with a big news drop (on Twitter) about all their current and upcoming projects.
First up, Exit the Gungeon will escape its exclusivity deal with Apple Arcade and make its way to “PC and consoles” in Early 2020. The developer didn’t specify which consoles the game would appear on, but Enter the Gungeon has found a lot of success on the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, so a wide release strategy seems likely for this pseudo-sequel.
Speaking of Enter the Gungeon, Dodge Roll also announced that their first game has now sold more than three million copies across all platforms. Congratulations to the team on reaching that milestone.
Finally, Dodge Roll revealed that Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, a lightgun-powered arcade cabinet developed by Griffin Aerotech, will also be available in Early 2020. The spinoff will offer two-player simultaneous shooting against the “adorable” Gundead horde when it launches sometime in the next few months.
Dodge Roll recently overhauled their website at EnterTheGungeon.com, and you’ll be able to find future updates about all of these games over there.
Dodge Roll launches Exit the Gungeon as timed-exclusive for Apple Arcade… so here’s a Launch Trailer
Apple launched their Apple Arcade subscription service earlier this week, and among the dozens of new games from high profile publishers and developers is Exit the Gungeon, a sequel/spinoff to Enter the Gungeon from Dodge Roll Games and Singlecore Games.
Unlike Enter the Gungeon, Exit the Gungeon is a side-scrolling shooter that tasks players with escaping from the titular catacomb after the past has been erased. Yikes. Thankfully, players will be equipped with plenty of ammo to make this less of a problem, as you can see from the Launch Trailer embedded above.
Exit the Gungeon is currently available to download for iOS devices through the Apple Arcade, but according to the developer (via Reddit), it will eventually make its way to other platforms. Dodge Roll is also planning to release multiple free updates for Exit the Gungeon, so the game it is today won’t be the game it is eventually.
Hopefully we’ll learn more about Exit the Gungeon’s update schedule soon. But in the meantime, you might be interested to know that even though the side-scrolling shooter is “just” a mobile game, it has full controller support on Apple Arcade.
Exit the Gungeon is a side-scrolling spinoff of Enter the Gungeon… and it’s coming to iOS devices
Apple has signed up a few high-profile developers to deliver content for their upcoming Apple Arcade subscription service, and today they locked up another one as Dodge Roll Games has announced that Exit the Gungeon will be available to download for Mac, Apple TV, and iOS devices soon.
Exit the Gungeon is a side-scrolling spinoff of Enter the Gungeon that eschews the overhead dungeon crawling of its predecessor and embraces a new focus on vertical combat as the world’s first “dungeon climber”:
Exit the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon climber immediately following the adventures of the misfit “Gungeoneers” and their journey for personal absolution in Enter the Gungeon.
Spoilers: The Gungeon has become a paradox and is collapsing. Armed with an ever-changing weapon, an insatiable need to loot, and a signature trusty dodge roll, each of our heroes must ascend and escape via their own unique route of increasingly perilous elevators. Battle against the last and most bitter of the Gundead at a frantic pace, slowing down just long enough to chat with some familiar faces… and a few new ones. Shifting rooms, enemies, bosses, bizarre weapons, and items all combine to ensure that no two attempts to finish Exit the Gungeon play out the same.
Devolver Digital will publish Exit the Gungeon, which will be co-developed by Singlecore Games. Presumably, it’ll make it’s way to other platforms after some period of exclusivity on Apple Arcade.
