Battlefield V, Farming Simulator 19, SteamWorld Dig 2, more coming to Xbox Store this week

We’re digging deep into another Xbox Games Store update. Here’s what’s coming to the Xbox One this week…

The Battlefield franchise “returns to its roots” this week with the launch of Battlefield V. The World War II shooter will include multiple multiplayer modes (Grand Operations and Combined Arms) and a single-player mode (War Stories). A Battle Royale mode (Firestorm) will be added next Spring.

Also set to launch for Xbox One this week is Focus Home’s latest farming simulation, Farming Simulator 19, and Image & Form’s underground MetroidVania, SteamWorld Dig 2.

You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the Xbox Games Store after the break. (more…)

Battlefield V, Farming Simulator 19, Beat Saber, more coming to PS Store this week

It’s mid-week, so it’s time for another PlayStation Store update…

Electronic Arts will do battle with other game publishers this week for your attention with the PS4 launch of Battlefield V. Developer DICE is bringing the multiplayer shooter back to the World War II era, and they’ll add a Battle Royale mode to the game sometime next Spring.

Elsewhere on the PS Store, PS4 players who opt to download Farming Simulator 19 this week won’t have to deal with a rampaging army, but they will learn how their Thanksgiving feast moves from the farm to the table. But as they say, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy, so thankfully Beat Saber launches for the PS4 this week to provide a colorful rhythm experience for PlayStation VR owners.

Finally this week, Sony and Insomniac will expand Spider-Man once again with the Turf Wars expansion.

You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the PlayStation Store after the break. (more…)

New Retail Releases: Battlefield V, Farming Simulator 19, More

The number of new releases has slowed to a trickle as we approach Black Friday, but there’s still a few big titles to look to this week.

Electronic Arts and DICE return to the battlefields of World War II this week in Battlefield V for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s a little hard to keep up with the numbering that DICE uses for their multiplayer-focused franchise, but it’s interesting that Battlefield V doubles as the fifth numbered entry in the series and as a sly reference to the WWII-era slogan “V For Victory.”

You’ll find considerably less fighting in Farming Simulator 19 from Focus Home Interactive and Giants Software. According to the publisher, the PC, PS4, and Xbox One game will feature “the most striking and immersive graphics ever,” and players will also be able to pilot John Deere tractors for the first time.

A complete look at the rest of this week’s new retail releases can be found after the break. (more…)

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice wins “Best of Gamescom” at Gamescom 2018

Gamescom 2018 closed its doors for the last time today, and From Software’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice slashed its way towards the coveted “Best of Gamescom” award.

There were a wide range of winners at this year’s expo, with all three consolemakers predictably winning “Best Game” on their respective platforms. In case you were wondering, those awards went to Spider-Man (“Best PS4 Game”), Ori and the Will of the Wisps (“Best Xbox One Game”), and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (“Best Nintendo Switch Game”). Nintendo’s fighter also collected the audience-voted award “Most Wanted Consumer Award.”

Other platform-specific awards were claimed by Ubisoft’s Anno 1800 (“Best PC Game”) and Madfinger’s Shadowgun War Games (“Best Mobile Game”).

The complete list of nominees and winners can be found after the break. And it’s never too early to start planning for next year’s expo. Gamescom organizers announced that next year’s show will begin on August 20. (more…)

Get ready to farm like you’ve never farmed before… Farming Simulator 19 announced

Focus Home Interactive wants players to “Farm Like Never Before” in Farming Simulator 19. Set to launch this Fall for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, the game will feature a “completely overhauled” graphics engine, new animals, and the biggest vehicle roster ever:

Farming Simulator 19 will feature, at launch, three distinct open worlds in which to develop and expand your farm, in solo or with friends: two entirely new environments will soon be revealed, as well as an all-improved version of the South American environment, which has been overhauled to take advantage of the new engine’s capabilities.

Farming Simulator 19 takes the biggest step forward yet for the franchise, and will bring great improvements to nearly every aspect of the game, not just greatly enhanced graphics. Its content will be richer than ever. With the addition of new big brands, Farming Simulator 19’s garage will feature the franchise’s most extensive vehicle roster ever. The game will also introduce new farming activities, new animals including horses, brand new mechanics, as well as new crops – all of which we will be revealed in great detail over the coming months and future events.

Farming Simulator 19 is in development at Giants Interactive, and the first trailer has been embedded above.
