Square Enix ships 1 million copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on the back of FF15 demo
It’s an undisputed fact that including a demo of a hugely popular game will help sell copies of a possibly less-anticipated title. It worked for Zone of the Enders back in the PS2 days and it worked for Crackdown nearly ten years ago. Now, Square Enix has shown that it worked for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD too.
The action RPG was released for the PS4 and Xbox One on March 17, packaged with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XV. Since then, Square Enix has shipped more than one million copies of the title to retailers worldwide.
To celebrate the good news, and to update fans on Final Fantasy XV’s progress, Director Hajime Tabata will host a special “Active Time Report” through Square Enix’s Twitch channel on April 27 at 11:00 PM (Pacific Time). If you’re interested in providing Tabata will feedback on the Final Fantasy XV demo, there’s still time. Head over to FinalFantasyXV.com/poll to voice your opinion now.
If you haven’t picked up Final Fantasy Type-0 HD yet, copies of the Final Fantasy XV demo-containing “Day One Edition” are still available at most retailers.
Square Enix will offer Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
Square Enix has announced the Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which costs $99.99 and comes with a golden steelbook case, a soundtrack by the composer, a manga giving details on the characters and world, an art book, five life-size replica copies of Ace’s Cards, and a code to play the demo for Final Fantasy XV.
Regardless of which version of the game you pre-order, you are automatically entered into the Collector’s Edition Sweepstakes to win “exciting prizes,” including a custom next-gen console, Ace and Noctis art, a Vermilion Bird lapel pin, and more, according to the PlayStation Blog. Square Enix also announced that Director Hajime Tabata will be doing a Reddit AMA on January 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time).
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be released on March 17, 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Final Fantasy XV’s TGS 2014 trailer has been translated into English
Remember that wild trailer that Square Enix released for Final Fantasy XV during the Tokyo Game Show? Well, we finally get to hear the English voice actors and understand what’s going on. I mean, as much as anyone can ever understand what’s happening in a Final Fantasy trailer.
Final Fantasy XV might be released next year on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Square Enix wants you to “Enter the Fray” in new Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer
Square Enix just released an awesome new trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 to kick off Paris Games Week. It’s surprisingly violent, truly beautiful, and it looks like every YA novel I’ve ever loved. You get to play as teenagers with special magic abilities who are fighting against the aggressive country that has taken them over. I mean come on.
I, for one, cannot wait to control the fourteen students of Class Zero and fight against my oppressors. Final Fantasy Type-0 will be out on March 17, 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Pre-ordering the game also gives you access to a demo for Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae (when it’s available). So. Much. Final. Fantasy.
Final Fantasy XV gets a TGS 2014 trailer; Tetsuya Nomura steps down as director
Square Enix showed a trailer for Final Fantasy XV yesterday at the Tokyo Game Show and… what is happening, are they driving a car? The prince is sleeping? What am I even watching? I don’t even know what’s going on, and I’m still excited anyway. The game will be released for PS4 and Xbox One, and while there’s no release date, there will be a playable demo packaged with Final Fantasy Type-0 when it comes out on March 17, 2015.
Square Enix also announced that director Tetsuya Nomura will be replaced by Hajime Tabata, allowing Nomura to “focus his full efforts as the director of other highly anticipated titles, including Kingdom Hearts III.” That’s a lot of serious announcements for one day. Thanks, Square Enix!
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will include FF15 demo when its released on March 17
Square Enix has announced they will release Final Fantasy Type-0 HD in the US on March 17, 2015. Are you still a little shaky on what Type-0 HD entails? Square Enix has helpfully provided this description for the PS4/Xbox One title:
Step into the fray as Class Zero, a group of fourteen students from an elite military academy whose country is attacked by an aggressive neighboring Empire. Using the powerful abilities and magic of all fourteen characters in fast-paced action RPG combat, players must face the brutality and injustices of war to uncover the secrets of its genesis.
As a further incentive to entice fans to take a chance on their latest Final Fantasy spinoff, Square Enix will include a Final Fantasy XV demo download code inside each copy of Type-0 HD.
Type-0 HD has undergone quite a few changes in its odyssey towards America. Originally announced as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, it began life as a PSP entry in Square Enix’s “Fabula Nova Crystallis” franchise. After a name change, it was released in Japan in 2011. Owing to its handheld roots, Type-0 was initially rumored to move to the Vita before Square Enix announced the PS4/Xbox One port at this year’s E3 Expo.
So four years later (and nine since its initial announcement), we’ll get a chance to see what the fuss is about.
Final Fantasy XV announced for PS4 and Xbox One
Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been in development for a long time. How long has it been? If Versus XIII was a child, that child would be graduating from the second grade in a few days. And it feels like it’s no closer to release now than it was at E3 2006.
But the past is the past. Versus XIII has a new name (Final Fantasy XV), a new destination (the PS4 and Xbox One), and a new future. It also has a new trailer, which has been posted at the top of this article.
As you might have guessed, no release date has been announced for Final Fantasy XV.
Sony @ E3 13: Final Fantasy Versus XIII is now Final Fantasy XV, coming to PS4
A very cinematic trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII (which is now coming to the PS4) was shown during the Sony E3 conference, and definitely showcases the talent at Square Enix. It even has a new title to go along with its new home: Final Fantasy XV.
So FF Versus XIII is alive and well, but it still doesn’t have a release date. Teases.
