“You’ve Been Chosen” again to watch BioWare’s latest teaser trailer entitled “Spark”
BioWare is continuing their “You’ve Been Chosen” series of teasers, ahead of a planned Gamescom 2014 reveal, with “Spark.”
The “Spark” trailer centers around a disturbed teen drawing circles in a diner while his phone keeps ringing. After the teen silences his phone for a third time, lightning begins raining down inside the diner. Finally, a hooded figure looks in on the teen and a tagline, “Do You Know They Are Watching,” flashes across the screen.
What does it all mean? I’m still leaning towards demons. BioWare will unveil exactly what we’ve been chosen for during this year’s Gamescom convention on Wednesday, August 13.

BioWare’s next game will bring a “Nightmare” to Gamescom 2014
BioWare is still being awfully cagey about what direction Mass Effect 4 will take, but the developer is ready to lift the lid on their next project, an untitled game that has something to do with dreams and nightmares.
A trailer for the game (titled “Nightmare”) teases a bigger reveal at this year’s Gamescom convention, but first we met a terrified young man that is in some horrible dream. It might be gibberish, but a dream analyst would look at the images we’re shown and conclude that a broken lamp symbolizes misfortune or bad luck while the alleyway represents a journey into the unknown. The smoky room implies confusion and anxiety while a doppelganger represents a desire to recapture the past. Finally, light means an understanding or clarity has been reached.
So some sort of misfortune has lead this man on a journey that is confusing. But something in his past will lead to a better understanding of the future and his current situation. The trailer closes by asking “What really happens when we sleep?”, and stating, “You’ve been chosen.” Chosen for what? I’m going to go with demons. It’s usually demons.
Nordic Games has acquired the THQ trademark
General Manager Klemens Kreuzer told Polygon that Nordic Games has “acquired the THQ trademark and will be publishing games under the THQ name.”
Nordic Games acquired much of the THQ catalog back in 2013 during the company’s auction after it declared bankruptcy. Nordic is having a hard time being seen as legitimate, and the company hopes that publishing games with the THQ branding will help.
Kreuzer told Polygon, “It was kind of surprise to some industry veterans and players that we were the winner of the auction of the THQ titles… The challenging fact is nobody has ever heard about Nordic Games before [the THQ auction]. There were so many articles with the headlines ‘Who the fuck is Nordic Games?’ We said, okay they were right… We have seen an uplift in the name of Nordic Games, and what we have also done is we have made a second deal with THQ where we bought the THQ trademark.”
Kreuzer also told Polygon that the company would be making more announcements at Gamescom in August. Hopefully this means some news about Darksiders III, which Nordic revealed was in pre-production earlier this year.
Quantum Break gameplay teaser promises full reveal at Gamescom 2014
Remedy is hard at work on Quantum Break and the latest trailer confirms that their time-twisting action game will be released in 2015. While a 2014 release date was never officially announced, many hoped they’d get their hands on the game this year. It looks like that’s not to be and, according to Remedy’s Sam Lake, Quantum Break will skip the 2014 E3 Expo as well.
In the video above, Quantum Break’s Creative Director teases a tiny sliver of gameplay footage from the game with the promise that we’ll get more at this year’s Gamescom show. The video game show, which is based in Cologne, Germany, will be held from August 13 through the 17th.
Quantum Break will attempt to blend a third-person action game with a Hollywood-style live-action television show. According to Lake, “The game is about heroes, the show is about villains.” The game will follow Jack Joyce, the hero we’ve gotten to know a little bit about in two earlier trailers (at the “Next Xbox Reveal” and VGX 2013). Meanwhile, the show will follow the corporate intrigue within Monarch Solutions, the evil entity at the center of Quantum Break.
Hopefully, one of the villains will give us a “muwhahaha” at some point in the show.
