Media Molecule’s Dreams wins “Best of Gamescom” at Gamescom 2019
The annual Gamescom convention has shut its doors for another year, but first the organizers closed the show by handing out this year’s Best of Gamescom Awards. While most of the trophies were awarded during the Opening Night Live stream, we learned today that Media Molecule’s Dreams won the coveted “Best of Gamescom” award. Naturally, Dreams also took home “Best PS4 Game” at the Best of Gamescom Awards, but the trippy game creation tool also won “Most Original Game.”
The rest of the winners represented a wide swath of games at this year’s Gamescom convention, with the platform awards going to Gears 5 (“Best Xbox One Game”), The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (“Best Nintendo Switch Game”), Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint (“Best PC Game”), and Battle Chasers: Nightwar (“Best Mobile Game”).

The Terminator and The Joker are the final two additions to Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack
We already knew that Bruce Campbell’s Ash wasn’t going to be invited to the party, but that didn’t stop NetherRealm Studios from confirming the final two guest characters for Mortal Kombat 11‘s Kombat Pack this morning. As expected, both The Terminator and The Joker will be joining the fight in the coming months.
If you’d like a more exact release schedule than that for Mortal Kombat 11’s remaining DLC, then you’re in luck, because NetherRealm’s got you covered. The Terminator will be available to download on October 8, and he’ll be followed by Sindel on November 26, The Joker on January 28, and Spawn on March 17. A short trailer introducing each guest character has been embedded above.
While NetherRealm has yet to announce any additional DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 beyond the six characters featured in the Kombat Pack, there might be plans for more. The roster page on the game’s official website currently shows two extra slots. We don’t know who will fill them, but maybe Ash isn’t quite as out as we thought.
Sega will bring Yazuka 3-5 to PS4 as part of The Yakuza Remastered Collection
Since last year, Sega has been treating fans of the Yakuza franchise in Japan to remastered remakes of Yazuka 3, Yazuka 4, and Yazuka 5 for the PS4. Today, the publisher confirmed that all three games will be released in North America and Europe as part of The Yakuza Remastered Collection.
Beginning today, players who purchase The Yakuza Remastered Collection through the PlayStation Store will be able to download a remastered re-release of Yakuza 3. Yakuza 4 will unlock on October 29, and Yakuza 5 Remastered will complete the series on February 11.
Though, if you’d prefer to wait for the retail release, Sega will bundle all three games into a single retail package (also known as The Yakuza Remastered Collection) on that same date.
So what changes can fans look forward to in The Yakuza Remastered Collection? In addition to a graphical overhaul, Sega has promised to “re-localize” all three titles and restore previously cut content:
The Yakuza Remastered Collection is far from a typical console generation port. In addition to graphical and performance upgrades (720p at 30fps > 1080p at 60fps), all three games have gone through a rigorous re-localization process. The English scripts for each game have been reviewed, revised, and even rewritten in some cases, and content previously cut from the Western releases of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 have been re-added in The Yakuza Remastered Collection.
Several quality-of-life changes have also been added for each release in the collection, including a Substory Tracker on the map and the ability to toggle between English and Japanese written lyrics during Karaoke.
The first trailer for The Yakuza Remastered Collection has been embedded above.

Need For Speed Heat heads down to the Miami-like Palm City on November 8
Electronic Arts and Ghost Games unveiled the latest addition to the Need For Speed franchise this morning… Need For Speed Heat.
Need For Speed Heat takes place in the sun-drenched Palm City, an open world locale where players will be able to participate in the Speedhunters Showdown competition during the day. But at night, they can stake their Rep (and their bankroll) on the streets in a series of illegal underground races.

Need For Speed Heat sends fans to Palm City, a brand-new open world where street racers have gathered to make their names known. By day, players compete in the Speedhunters Showdown, a sanctioned competition where they earn Bank to customize and upgrade their garage of high-performance cars. At night, players risk it all to build their Rep in underground races where a rogue police task force roams the streets, ready to take racers down and swipe all their earnings. The roads, the risks, and the rides never end in this street racer where a player can roll deep with their crew, build their garage full of hot cars, and make the city their nonstop playground.
“We’re delivering more options than ever before for players to be unique and make themselves known,” said Riley Cooper, the Creative Director at Ghost Games. “Our fans have been clear that they want more cars, more customization, and more challenges, and we’re tuning up on every aspect. From your character’s style to your car’s performance and your driving style, we’re fuelling everyone’s creativity with this new game.”

EA still plans to release Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 and a new Need For Speed game later this year
Back in February of this year, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said that the publisher planned to launch Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 and a new Need For Speed game in 2019. And with Summer rapidly coming to an end, the executive made an appearance at Electronic Arts’s quarterly financial presentation yesterday to reconfirm that both games are still on track.
According to Wilson, the currently-untitled Need For Speed game will definitely make its public debut at next month’s Gamescom convention in Germany, and Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 shouldn’t be too far behind:
We’ll take the wraps off our new Need For Speed game heading into Gamescom in a few weeks. We have a Plants Vs Zombies shooter title coming to console and PC later this year.
Gamescom will throw open its doors on August 20, so we’ll likely learn more about Need For Speed 2019 and Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 then.
