God of War: Ascension PS3 bundle has you seeing red
Why do they always make the cool system bundles after I purchase them?
Keeping with the tradition of making me regret my purchases (I still wish I bought the NES-style Game Boy Advance), Sony has announced the God of War: Ascension “Legacy Bundle,” which will hit stores on March 12th.
For the low, low price of $349, this bundle includes the God of War Saga compilation (which features all the God of War games released, including the PSP outings), the new God of War: Ascension and a 30-day trial for PlayStation Plus. The system is a Garnet Red PS3 with a very robust 500 GB hard drive, easily enough room to hold all the freebies you’ll get during your 30-day PS+ subscription.
Sony unveils teaser for God of War: Ascension Super Bowl ad
Do you know how you know you’ve crossed over into the twilight zone? I do. You enter the twilight zone when a video game publisher releases a cryptic teaser trailer like yesterday’s “Game Day” video, which is itself a teaser for another teaser trailer they released less than 24 hours later.
Got all that? Yeah, it doesn’t make any sense to me either.
But that’s just what Sony did. On Tuesday, the publisher pushed out the 17-second “Game Day” teaser that promises a further reveal on February 1. Today, Sony released a slightly longer teaser trailer for what we now know is a God of War: Ascension Super Bowl ad. This teaser again ends with the promise of more details on February 1. It’s neat, but it also makes the “Game Day” video a teaser of a teaser of a trailer.
And who wants to be the one to tell Sony that Super Bowl XLVII is actually scheduled for February 3?
What in God (of War)’s name is Sony Game Day 2013?
Sony recently posted the cryptic video above on their YouTube Channel. The video is promoting something called “Game Day 2013,” which takes place on February 1, 2013 (that’s this Friday!).
During the video’s short 16 second runtime, we get a glimpse of a Greek woman in a very traditional dress being covered in ashes and then a quick shot of an eye that most likely belongs to Kratos.
I’ve cracked your code, Sony! This has something to do with God of War! But if you want specifics, you’re going to have to wait until Friday.
God of War: Ascension buyers get first crack at The Last of Us demo
Good news everyone! Sony is planning to release a demo for The Last of Us before the game’s May 7 release. And there’s even more good news if you plan on purchasing God of War: Ascension… you’ll receive early access to the demo!
According to Sony, the demo content is still “to be determined,” and it’s unknown whether the demo will include a single-player level or a multiplayer preview or both.
I guess what we’re saying is that this isn’t the last you’ve heard of the demo for The Last of Us.
God of War: Ascension Beta Impressions: Eviscerating Your Expectations
The God of War: Ascension multiplayer beta launched this Tuesday for PlayStation Plus members, and, as a member and a person who’s played the previous God of War games extensively, I felt I had an obligation to download it. I was skeptical about the idea of multiplayer in a God of War game, mainly because the entire concept behind the franchise was the struggle of just one man: Kratos. He has created his own mythology, becoming a fixture in the Sony gaming world. So how could they make multiplayer in a game that was so Kratos-centric? My healthy skepticism was almost instantly destroyed when I began playing the beta. Yes, it’s actually that much fun. (more…)

God of War: Ascension beta begins on January 8 for PS Plus subscribers
Sony has announced that God of War: Ascension‘s multiplayer beta will begin on January 8. All PlayStation Plus subscribers will be invited to download the beta client, and they’ll be treated to “visceral, larger than life, online combat.”
Here’s a few more details about the beta straight from Sony Santa Monica (via the PlayStation Blog):
So the burning-in-Hades question is, what will you play in our Multiplayer Beta? A visceral, larger than life, online combat experience for starters. We are kicking off the Beta with our signature Team Favor of the Gods mode and the yet-to-be-seen Favor of the Gods mode, which plays like Team Favor of the Gods, but without the teams. In both modes, you’ll fight to reach the requisite number of favor points from the Gods, earning points via kills, bonus brutal kills, opening chests, capturing domination points, and, if you’re skillful enough, performing executions using the Spear of Olympus.
God of War: Ascension will be released exclusively for the PS3 on March 12, 2013.
God of War: Ascension beta begins this Winter; Rise of the Warrior social game begins now
Sony announced (via the PlayStation Blog) that the multiplayer beta for upcoming God of War prequel, God of War: Ascension, will release “this winter.” There are only two ways to partake in the Spartan/Trojan war: be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, or go to GodofWar.com and participate in their social game experience, “The Rise of the Warrior.” By playing Rise of the Warrior, not only do you earn early access to the beta, but you can also earn tons of God of War goodies!
You’ll live out your warrior’s journey in an epic new graphic-novel style story. You will embark on a quest for redemption that leads you toward becoming the next Champion of the Gods.
It gives you the opportunity to align with either the Spartans or the Trojans and compete via a number of social challenges to earn your army a week of exclusive early access to the Beta this winter, and 30 days of PlayStation Plus. And that’s just the first of multiple major army rewards between now and March! If an epic new God of War story and early Beta access aren’t enough for you – you’ll also be able to earn early in-game unlocks for God of War: Ascension multiplayer to get a head-start on the competition, along with exclusive multiplayer weapons and armor for everyone who rises to Champion of the Gods! So get over to GodofWar.com and start your journey in Rise of the Warrior.
Sony has also released a new trailer for the game, starring Zeus, that you can watch above. God of War: Ascension releases for the PS3 on March 12th.
