All Articles: Hitman 2
New Retail Releases: Fallout 76, Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu, Hitman 2, More
Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong, thanks to this week’s brand new retail game releases…
Fallout fans will be able to return to The Wasteland in an entirely new way this week as Bethesda will add multiplayer gameplay to the franchise for the first time in Fallout 76 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Xbox One owners interested in upgrading to an Xbox One X will also be able to opt for an Xbox One X 1TB + Fallout 76 Bundle.
Pokemon fans will be able to experience a familiar locale in a new way this week as well with Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee! and Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! for the Switch. The two games will revisit the Kanto region, and players will need to use a throwing motion with a Joy-Con (or the optional Poke Ball Plus controller) to catch Pokemon in the wild. Two special console bundles (a Switch + Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee! + Poke Ball Plus Bundle and a Switch + Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! + Poke Ball Plus Bundle) will also be available.
More familiar settings can be found this week in Activision’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which collects the first three games in the series on the PS4 and Xbox One. It’ll be joined on store shelves by a pair of new-to-the-Switch games, including SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, a compilation of SNK’s pre-NeoGeo offerings, and the console debut of 2K’s Civilization VI.
New adventures (and targets) await Agent 47 this week as developer IO Interactive has ditched the episodic structure for the assassin’s newest game, Hitman 2, which will launch for the PS4 and Xbox One (and on the PC as a download-only title).
The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA Tour (PS4, Xbox One), a golf simulation from HB Studios, and Trailblazers (PS4, Switch), a futuristic racer from Supergonk, will make their way to retail shelves everywhere after first appearing as digital titles earlier this year. And Epic’s Fortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle will give fans the chance to obtain the Deep Freeze Costume Set and 1,000 V-Bucks for the free-to-play Battle Royale shooter.
Finally this week, DICE and Electronic Arts will deliver Battlefield V: Deluxe Edition to the franchise’s on the PS4 and Xbox One a few days ahead of the launch of the Standard Edition.
A complete look at this week’s new retail releases can be found after the break. (more…)
New Retail Releases: Tetris Effect, World of Final Fantasy Maxima, Carnival Games, More
It’s not often that we can talk about a new Tetris game as the biggest release of the week, but that’s exactly what’s happening this week.
The Tetris Company has teamed up with Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Enhance to transform the classic puzzle game into Tetris Effect, a wild extravaganza of sight and sound. Set to launch exclusively for the PS4 this Friday, November 9, Tetris Effect will also feature support for the PlayStation VR headset.
A pair of re-releases will also make their way onto store shelves this week as Square Enix will bring World of Final Fantasy Maxima, their chibi-styled crossover RPG, to the Xbox One for the first time. It’ll be joined by 2K’s Carnival Games, which brings its midway minigames to the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
Finally this week, WB Games is prepping a release of the Hitman 2: Gold Edition ahead of the action shooter’s Standard Edition launch next week. And stores will begin stocking the Xbox One S 1TB + Battlefield V Bundle, even though the included download code for Battlefield V won’t go live until next Thursday, November 15.
You can find the rest of this week’s new retail releases after the break. (more…)
WB Games and IO Interactive will release Hitman 2 on November 13
Confirming rumors we started hearing earlier this month, WB Games and IO Interactive have announced that Hitman 2 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 13. The seventh game in the franchise will serve as a direct sequel to 2016’s Hitman, however, it won’t feature the episodic release schedule of its predecessor.
But not to worry, Hitman 2 will still take Agent 47 to various locales around the world, including a mission that takes place at a racetrack in Miami:
Hitman 2 takes players on a global adventure across a mix of bustling international locations, including a vibrant Miami setting with the colorful ambience of an in-progress motorsport race bringing a new backdrop to the series. From sun-drenched streets to dark and dangerous rainforests, each intricate location provides multiple paths to discover and unparalleled game depth.
Continuing the ultimate spy thriller story, Hitman 2 allows players to take on the role of the masterful Agent 47 and embark on a mission to hunt the elusive Shadow Client and unravel his militia once and for all. However, when 47 learns the hidden truth about his past, nothing will ever be the same.
The Miami mission is on full display in the E3 Trailer embedded above, but WB Games and IO Interactive also confirmed that Hitman 2 will feature a cooperative mode for the first time:
Hitman 2 introduces new ways to play with the Sniper Assassin mode, a standalone feature that brings a co-op experience to the Hitman series for the first time, allowing two players to work together online to take down their targets. Sniper Assassin can also be enjoyed in a single player mode for those who want to play as Agent 47.
Players who pre-order Hitman 2 will receive early access to Sniper Assassin mode beginning today. And you can find a second trailer, with a closer look at the cooperative mode, after the break.
But speaking of pre-order offers, four different purchasing options will be available for Hitman 2. The Standard Edition ($59.99) will contain just the game, while a digital-only Silver Edition ($79.99) will also include access to the game’s first expansion. A second expansion, and other in-game goodies, will be included with the Gold Edition ($99.99).
Fans who opt for the Collector’s Edition ($149.99), which will be sold exclusively through GameStop, will receive the game, both expansions, several other in-game bonuses, a rubber ducky, a bullet-shaped keychain, and a Signature Coin, all packaged in a replica of Agent 47’s gun case. Details on all four purchasing options can be found at the game’s official website.
We’ll likely learn more about Hitman 2 during next week’s E3 Expo. (more…)
