Nintendo Download: Hyrule Warriors, Mario Golf: Advance Tour, more
We are on the cusp of Nintendo’s big Fall 2014 push as the consolemaker’s wild Legend of Zelda/Dynasty Warriors mashup, Hyrule Warriors, will be available to download from the Wii U eShop beginning tomorrow.
It’ll be joined this week by a trio of other Wii U releases including Mario Golf: Advance Tour (which was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004), Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade (a copyright-skirting game that looks very similar to Angry Birds), and Darts Up (a darts simulator).
Over on the 3DS eShop, Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL World Duel Carnival is now available for the Yu-Gi-Oh! nuts in your life.
More information on all of these titles can be found after the break. (more…)
New Releases: Hyrule Warriors, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, FIFA 15, More
Have you got Destiny out of system yet? If so, there are plenty of new releases to talk about this week includingHyrule Warriors, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo’s mashup of The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors for the Wii U. If nothing else, the game will let us play as Ganondorf and that just sounds amazing.
Also available this week is Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes for the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Disney’s “2.0” attempt at a toy/game hybrid adds Marvel superheroes and an expanded Toy Box Mode. And speaking of games that appear on a lot of platforms… EA Sports will release FIFA 15 this week for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Sorry, Wii U owners.

Are you attending next weekend’s PAX Prime convention? If so, you’ll have a chance to try out Nintendo’s entire Fall lineup as the consolemaker is planning to display ten games on the show floor.
But if you live in the Seattle area you couldn’t make it into PAX Prime, don’t worry, The Big N has got you covered. On Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 the company will pop in to various public spots in Seattle with copies of Super Smash Bros. For 3DS in hand. To find out where, follow along with Nintendo’s Twitter feed and keep an eye out for the #SmashBash hashtag.
Nintendo will also hold a special after hours event for Hyrule Warriors at Renaissance Seattle Hotel (515 Madison St.) on Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Fans will be allowed inside on a first-come, first-served basis, but you can jump to the head of the line if you cosplay as your favorite character from The Legend of Zelda.
Both games will also be available on the PAX Prime show floor, along with Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and several others.

Ganondorf will join Hyrule Warriors as a playable character
Nintendo uploaded their latest Nintendo Direct video last night and devoted the 30-minute running time solely to Hyrule Warriors.
During that time, they gave players a look at the challenges of Adventure Mode, some of the game’s locations, the return of Gold Skulltulas, and more. One of the biggest things to come out of that “and more” is the news that Ganondorf, Link’s nemesis since the beginning of the series, will be a playable character in the game. The King of Thieves uses a pair of Great Swords and also wields powerful dark magic in his attacks, which you can see in the trailer above. Other villains will stand alongside Ganondorf as playable characters in Hyrule Warriors including Zant (from Twilight Princess) and Ghirahim (from Skyward Sword).
Club Nintendo members will get to play dress-up with Ganondorf as Nintendo announced they’ll receive an alternate costume pack if they purchase Hyrule Warriors within four weeks of its September 26 launch. Other costume packs (including ones based on Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Ocarine of Time) will be available as pre-order bonuses from “select retailers.”
Finally, don’t forget to take a gander at the entire Nintendo Direct for Hyrule Warriors, which is now available on YouTube.
Sheik, Ruto, and Darunia star in the latest Hyrule Warriors trailers
Koei Tecmo Japan has unveiled three more character trailers for Hyrule Warriors and, this time, Shiek, Ruto, and Darunia take center stage.
Sheik is Zelda’s alter ego from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and cuts through a group of Stalfos with ninja-like precision. She also uses a mystical harp to lay waste to the horde with her musical talents.
Two more Ocarina of Time alums star in the other two trailers, which are both available after the break. Ruto is the Princess of the Zoras and, as you’d expect, she uses a lot of water-based attacks during her time in the spotlight. Darunia’s trailer features the Goron King going to town on a group of enemies with a massive hammer.
Hyrule Warriors will be available exclusively for the Wii U on September 26. But if you can’t wait that long, Nintendo will highlight Hyrule Warriors during their next Nintendo Direct broadcast, which is scheduled for Monday, August 4 at 11:00 PM (Eastern). (more…)
Everything you ever wanted to know about Hyrule Warriors in one trailer
Nintendo has released an epic four-minute trailer for Hyrule Warriors that includes a look at all of the announced characters (including Sheik, Ruto, and Darunia) as well as an NES-styled map, some of the game’s big bosses, and the two-player multiplayer mode. There’s a quick glimpse at the “world colliding” theme that brings all of these heroes together. If you weren’t interested in Hyrule Warriors before, you should be now.
Hyrule Warriors will be released exclusively for the Wii U on September 26.
Sheik, Darunia, Ruto join Hyrule Warriors as Link wields the Ball and Chain in latest trailer
Link is a one man wrecking machine in the latest Hyrule Warriors trailer released by Koei Tecmo Japan. Everyone’s favorite elf has bulked up thanks to the Power Gloves and the Ball and Chain. The Power Gloves increase his strength and allow him to throw around massive boulders like they’re basketballs. Meanwhile, the Ball and Chain is an awesome weapon that bashes through hordes of enemies like a wrecking ball. Boom!
Also on the Hyrule Warriors news front, Famitsu (via Computer and Video Games) has revealed that a trio of characters from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been added to the hack and slash adventure. Sheik (who is actually Princess Zelda in ninja garb), Darunia (leader of the Gorons), and Ruto (Princess of the Zoras) will all be playable in Hyrule Warriors.
I’m sure we’ll get new trailers showcasing all three characters soon enough as Hyrule Warriors will be released in Japan on August 14. The North American launch of the Wii U title will follow on September 26.
Skyward Sword’s Fi joins Hyrule Warriors in this new trailer
What do you do when you’ve created trailers specifically tailored around all the currently announced characters in your game? You announce more characters! And that’s just what Koei Tecmo Japan did when they revealed that Fi, the sword spirit from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, will be a playable character in Hyrule Warriors.
In a unique twist, Fi doesn’t use a sword in her fighting style. Instead, because she’s the physical personification of a magical sword, the character uses melee attacks to weaken the enemy mob before. Of course, in the end, she transforms into a sword and smashes down on the battlefield to take out those that remain. It’s pretty impressive.
Hyrule Warriors will be available for the Wii U on September 26. A part of me hopes the next character trailer will introduce everyone’s favorite cave-dwelling Old Man: “It’s dangerous to go alone… except for me!”
