NetherRealm Studios delivers the Launch Trailer for Injustice 2
With the game’s launch less than one day away, NetherRealm Studios has delivered one final trailer for Injustice 2… its Launch Trailer.
In addition to scenes of Batman and Superman going toe-to-toe with Brainiac, the Injustice 2 Launch Trailer also features an all new Steve Aoki remix of “Jungle” by X Ambassadors. Over the last few months, NetherRealm has created dozens of trailers for Injustice 2 that include hours of gameplay footage. I recommend starting with the “Everything You Need to Know” trailer and going backwards from there.
Injustice 2 will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
New Retail Releases: Injustice 2, Fire Emblem Echoes, The Surge, More
The DC Universe will descend into civil war once more with this week’s release of Injustice 2 for the PS4 and Xbox One. But in addition to a new antagonist (Brainiac), the latest one-on-one fighting game from NetherRealm Studios will introduce a special Gear System that allows players to customize their favorite character in interesting new ways.
Speaking of war, Nintendo will also launch Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia for the 3DS this week. Widely expected to be the final Fire Emblem game released for the 3DS, Echoes is an enhanced remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, which was originally released in 1992, and only in Japan.
A wholly different type of RPG will be available from Focus Home and Deck 13, as they’ll release The Surge for the PS4 and Xbox One. An action RPG set in a science fiction setting, The Surge requires players to augment their character with technological enhancements and scavenge additional powerups from dismembered enemies.
Finally this week, the sugary and sweet Cooking Mama franchise returns to the 3DS with Cooking Mama: Sweet Shop. Seems like a rather appropriate choice for Mother’s Day.
A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
Learn “Everything You Need to Know” about Injustice 2 in this trailer
NetherRealm Studios has been bombarding the Internet with a near-constant barrage of Injustice 2 trailers over the last few months. In that time, the developer has uploaded more than a dozen new trailers focusing on the game’s story, characters, and unique Gear System. But even if you’ve watched every second of video so far, you should still press Play on the new “Everything You Need to Know” trailer.
Once you do, you’ll become privy to more than five minutes of new gameplay footage, which also includes a first look at Injustice 2’s ladder-style Multiverse, team-based Guilds, and the mobile version. As Batman would say, are you prepared?
Injustice 2 will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16, and the mobile version will be available for Android and iOS devices sometime this month.
Injustice 2’s Fighter Pack 1 will include Sub-Zero, Starfire, and Red Hood
Injustice 2 will launch in less than two weeks on the PS4 and Xbox One, but NetherRealm Studios decided to reveal the first three post-launch downloadable characters this morning.
Fans of the Teen Titans will be thrilled to learn that Starfire will join the fighting game as part of Fighter Pack 1. She’ll fight alongside Red Hood, the rather violent alterego of Jason Todd, and originally a Robin that was killed by The Joker in the famous A Death in the Family storyline (he was later resurrected because… comic books).
These hot-headed characters will have a chance to chill out with Fighter Pack 1’s third character, Sub-Zero. The Mortal Kombat mainstay will be added to Injustice 2 as the game’s first guest character, and his monstrous new appearance fits in well with the DC Universe.
Injustice 2 owners will have the chance to purchase Fighter Pack 1 as a standalone download, or they can receive access to it for free through the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99). Fighter Pack 1 will also be included with the Ultimate Edition ($99.99), which will come packed with a download code to unlock an additional six characters (presumably as part of Fighter Pack 2 and Fighter Pack 3).
And speaking of future Fighter Packs, the very end of the Fighter Pack 1 trailer includes silhouettes of the remaining downloadable characters and eagle-eyed viewers will easily be able to make out Black Manta (on the left) and Raiden (on the right).
Injustice 2 will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
Get your first look at The Joker and Darkseid in these new trailers for Injustice 2
The Joker is sporting a completely new look for his Injustice 2 debut, but the supervillain’s fighting style should look familiar to anyone who played Injustice: Gods Among Us. The real question is… how is he still alive? The “Introducing Joker” trailer (available after the break) doesn’t have an answer, but we did get to see the Clown Prince of Crime deliver a beatdown on Robin with a crowbar and smack Superman in the face with a canister of Joker Venom.
The Joker is joined by a new trailer for Darkseid, Injustice 2’s first downloadable character. Players who pre-order the game will receive access to the ruler of Apokolips for free, but everyone can enjoy his “Introducing” trailer after the break.
Injustice 2 will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16. (more…)
Xbox Achievements from Injustice 2 confirm The Joker will appear in the game
Injustice: Gods Among Us opened with The Joker detonating a bomb in Metropolis. Superman flew into a rage after learning that Lois Lane (and their unborn child) was killed in the blast… ultimately murdering The Joker and taking control of the world with the help of his Regime. Years later, The Joker from the original DC Universe was pulled into the Injustice universe and caused a bit of havoc, but he was sent back to where he came from at the conclusion of the story.
But you didn’t think The Joker was really dead, did you? According to Xbox Achievements, two Achievements in the upcoming Injustice 2 point to a resurrection for the Clown Prince of Crime:
I Love You, I Hate You (15)
Harley must defeat Joker with the final hit coming from Go Night NightWhy Aren’t You Laughing? (15)
Joker must defeat Batman with the final hit coming from Not So Funny Is It?
NetherRealm Studios will unveil another new character from Injustice 2’s roster this Friday, April 28, and there’s a chance it could be The Joker. But even if it’s not, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out if he’s in the game, because Injustice 2 will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
Brainiac does his best Doctor Octopus impression in this new Injustice 2 trailer
After appearing in comic books for more than 50 years, and with a headlining role in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Doctor Octopus and his metal tentacles are inseparable in the minds of most comics fans. But DC’s Brainiac will borrow the handy appendages for his appearance in Injustice 2:
Brainiac is a megalomaniacal genius who roams the universe, collecting knowledge to increase his intellectual and scientific prowess. Obsessed with establishing his superiority, Brainiac captured Krypton’s greatest cities, then eradicated what remained…or so he thought. Tales of the “Last Son of Krypton” have reached far into the stars. Now, the Collector of Worlds comes to Earth to finish his accumulation of Krypton — and discovers a new world worthy of his collection.
Set to serve as the final boss in Injustice 2, Brainiac was first spotted laying waste to Earth in last week’s “Shattered Alliances Part 5” trailer. His new “Introducing Brainiac” trailer, which includes almost two minutes of gameplay, has been embedded above.
NetherRealm Studios plans to reveal 11 more characters for Injustice 2, but they better hurry, the game will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
Brainiac invades in Injustice 2’s “Shattered Alliances Part 5” trailer
The heroes are trying to pick up the pieces of a broken world as Injustice 2 opens, and we’ve gotten a glimpse of their progress thanks to NetherRealm’s “Shattered Alliances” series of trailers. But Part 5 takes things a step further with the introduction of Brainiac.
Brainiac will likely serve as the final boss to Injustice 2, and his goal for Earth is nothing less than total destruction… starting with Superman. Can the Man of Steel be redeemed? And will he be able to fight alongside Batman to protect the Earth? We’ll all find out together when Injustice 2 launches in less than a month (on May 16) for the PS4 and Xbox One.
