Gears of War’s General RAAM officially joins Killer Instinct this week
You know, it’s possible that Gears of War‘s General RAAM has been rumored to be joining Killer Instinct Season 3 for about as long as Donald Trump has been running for President. But just like Trump eventually captured the Republican nomination, so too has General RAAM been officially added to the Xbox One and PC fighting game.
Rukari Austin, Killer Instinct’s Community Manager, delivered the good news during Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference and on the Xbox Wire:
Brandishing his wickedly brutal blade, and wielding innate control of the carnivorous Kryll, General RAAM – military leader of the Locust Horde – is sure to strike fear into the heart of any opponent. Unleash heavy punishing attacks, brutal blade combos, and command Kryll swarms for offense or defense. Locust Queen Myrrah’s personal champion is sure to provide a challenge to all comers…
Like every other Killer Instinct fighter, General RAAM can be purchased as part of the Season 3 Combo Breaker Bundle ($19.99), Season 3 Ultra Edition Bundle ($39.99), or the 3-Season Supreme Edition ($59.99). The character can also be purchased as a standalone download for $4.99, but all Killer Instinct fans will first get to try him out for free this week.
Gargos is now available for Killer Instinct S3: Ultra Edition owners… so here’s a trailer
Gargos is the immortal demon lord at the center of Killer Instinct‘s bizarre narrative, and the winged monster finally made his debut as part of the franchise’s rebooted continuity earlier this week.
To celebrate his release, developer Iron Galaxy released a new trailer featuring Gargos on Friday, and Season 3: Ultra Edition owners are able to download the character now. Owners of the Combo Breaker bundle, as well as individual purchasers, will have access to Gargos beginning June 3.
To give Killer Instinct fans a sneak peek at some of his alternate costumes, Iron Galaxy also released a trio of gameplay trailers for Gargos late last week. In case you missed them, be sure to check out the pure 90s-ness of Retro Gargos, as well as a more devilish take on the gargoyle, and a version with a creepy clown mask. All three trailers can be viewed after the break. (more…)
Mira will join Killer Instinct Season 3 this week… so here’s a trailer
After adding a skeleton guy, a fire guy, an ice guy, a mummy, and many more to Killer Instinct, Iron Galaxy has finally reached “vampire” on the Great Wheel of Archetypal Characters. But the vampire in question is Mira, and as Maya’s sister, she’s definitely connected to the fighting game’s overarching story.
PAX East 2016 attendees got the chance to try out Mira this weekend at Iron Galaxy’s booth, and the developer was livestreaming new footage of her all weekend long. They also released a brand new trailer for the character, which has been embedded above.
Mira will be available to download sometime this week as part of Killer Instinct’s “Season 3.” Her appearance will be followed by Gargos next month, and two mystery characters in June and July (though one is heavily rumored to be General RAAM from Gears of War.

That includes four new characters (Rash, Arbiter, Kim Wu, and Tusk) and an updated visual look. Four more characters are in the works (the vampiric Mira in April, Gargos in May, and a pair of brand new characters in June and July), as well as the mysterious “Shadow Lords” Story Mode.
Also available to download this week for the Xbox One is RBI Baseball 16, MLB Advanced Media’s latest retro-styled baseball sim. This year’s edition includes a number of new animations, along with a “revamped defensive AI” and an “improved batting system.” There’s no peanuts or Crackerjack, but Xbox One owners will also get the chance to try out Resident Evil 6, which was re-released in a remastered edition this week by Capcom.
Finally this week, Telltale Games will bring Minecraft: Story Mode to a temporary end with the game’s fifth episode, while The Walking Dead: Michonne reaches its midpoint with Episode 2. Both games are available to download through the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Tusk crushes his enemies in the latest Killer Instinct Season 3 trailer
Iron Galaxy has returned with another new trailer for Killer Instinct Season 3, this time focusing on the immortal barbarian Tusk. Last seen in 1996’s Killer Instinct 2, Tusk is still an homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan at his core, but the character’s voice actor also seems to be channeling Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
Tusk will be part of the initial quartet of characters in Killer Instinct Season 3, which will be released for the PC and Xbox One on March 29. If you want a closer look at Tusk, developers from Iron Galaxy recently uploaded a 90-minute steam starring the character.
Killer Instinct Season 3 will launch on March 29 for Xbox One and PC with four characters
Iron Galaxy has announced (via the Official Killer Instinct Blog) that Killer Instinct Season 3 will make its debut on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs on March 29. The latest update to the free-to-play fighting game will include four new characters (Rash, The Arbiter, Kim Wu, and Tusk), along with a number of tweaks and fixes to the original game. Additional characters will be released as part of Season 3 in the coming months.
For Killer Instinct’s PC debut, Microsoft plans to make it cross-compatible with its Xbox One sibling as, “Everything you own and have earned in Killer Instinct is available to you on Windows 10.” Support for Xbox 360 fightsticks will be available on March 29, and Iron Galaxy is working on a patch to also provide support for Xbox One sticks.
We also got a look at the minimum and recommended system requirements for Killer Instinct, which are available after the break. (more…)
Check out the first trailer for The Arbiter in Killer Instinct Season 3
Killer Instinct Season 3 will kick off on the Xbox One and PC next month, but the upcoming addition of franchise mainstays Kim Wu, Tusk, and Gargos might be overshadowed by a pair of previously-confirmed guest characters.
Microsoft and Iron Galaxy unveiled Rash (of Battletoads fame) last year, and now we’ve been given our first look at The Arbiter’s Killer Instinct debut. Unfortunately, it sounds like Keith David won’t step up to the microphone for the character in Killer Instinct Season 3.
Iron Galaxy usually requires two-to-three months of development time to bring each new character to Killer Instinct, so it might be a while before we get to play as The Arbiter. Though you never know, the team might break with tradition and release the entire character set for Season 3 all in one fell swoop. Probably not, but I can dream, right?
