Spider-Man, Haggar, Frank West, Nemesis join Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite in Comic-Con 2017 trailer

The Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite roster recently expanded by four as Capcom revealed a new trailer featuring Spider-Man, Final Fight‘s Haggar, Dead Rising‘s Frank West, and Resident Evil 3‘s Nemesis during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The video also includes more footage of Thanos and Gamora, as well as the first look at the Mind Stone in action.

If you’re unfamiliar with any member of this quartet, the Capcom-Unity blog delves into their backstories a bit, and discusses how the Mind Stone can affect matches:

The Mind Stone is the fifth announced Infinity Stone for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. This stone brings a command grab type of attack to its wielder in the air and on the ground. Upon landing a successful Infinity Surge attack, the opponent will fall to the ground and wake up in a daze, giving the wielder plenty of time to set up their next attack. Activating the Infinity Storm gives players a boost in hyper gauge regeneration. Hyper gauge will naturally increase without performing any additional actions, letting players build up their powerful super attacks much faster.

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 19.

Ultron takes charge in the newest Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite gameplay trailer

Most notable, is the ability to summon an endless army of drone reinforcements to aid him in battle. He can summon these both on the ground and in the air. The drones also come in two flavors, one stays back assisting Ultron with a beam to cover him with the second version charging forward and smashing his opponent with a powerful blast of energy.

Story Mode, 8 new characters, Collector’s Edition revealed for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, which is launching on September 19

“Worlds Collide” in the latest trailer for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. To celebrate the announcement of the game’s Cinematic Story Mode, Capcom has revealed the circumstances behind the fourth crossover between Marvel’s stable of characters, and their own. It seems that Ultron and Sigma have realized they share the same murderous philosophy, and their mutual dislike for mankind has lead them to form a deadly new alliance:

For the first time in franchise history, the Marvel and Capcom universes collide in a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode, as heroes and villains battle together to save their merged worlds from a sinister new threat, Ultron Sigma. A combination of the robotic foes known as Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe, this psychotic villain is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. History’s greatest gathering of warriors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sigma and save their newly formed world.

Capcom and Marvel had quite a bit more to announce today, including eight additional playable characters (Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Chris Redfield) and a 2017 Character Pass that’ll include access to six post-launch characters, starting with Mega Man X‘s Sigma. The 2017 Character Pass will be available as a standalone download (for $30), but it’ll also be bundled with the PS4/Xbox One-exclusive Deluxe Edition (for $89.99) if you want to purchase everything up front.

The publisher plans to sweeten the pot with two bonus costumes (Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu) for anyone who pre-orders the Standard Edition. Two more costumes (Gladiator Hulk and Command Mission Mega Man X) will be added to the package if you pre-order the Deluxe Edition.

But wait, they’re not done. A Collector’s Edition, produced by TriForce, will also be released this Fall for the PS4 and Xbox One. Priced at $199.99, it’ll include four “Premium Character Dioramas” of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X, and Chun-Li, a Display Box filled with six Infinity Stone Replicas, and a copy of the Deluxe Edition in SteelBook packaging.

Finally, Capcom confirmed that Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 19.

First Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite gameplay trailer introduces Captain America, Morrigan

One of the first announcements during this weekend’s PlayStation Experience was Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, the (rather surprising) fourth entry in the crossover fighting franchise. Last night, Capcom unveiled the title’s first extended gameplay trailer, introducing fans to Ryu, Mega Man X, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Morrigan. The 90-second clip also gives us a glimpse at how the characters will use Marvel’s Infinity Stones in battle.

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2017.

Marvel Vs Capcom series returns with “Infinite” possibilities

It’s been rumoured for a while now, but Marvel and Capcom unveiled their fourth collaboration at this year’s PlayStation Experience. The new Marvel Vs Capcom title drops the number at the end and replaces it with a subtitle, Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. Marvel fans will have already guessed that the title comes from the legendary Infinity Stones, the MacGuffins at the centre of Marvel’s Infinity War, which is due to start filming next year.

The game features a slew of characters that will be seen on screen, including Iron Man and the newly announced Captain Marvel. They take on Capcom legends such as Street Fighter’s Ryu or Mega Man X, both of whom are old hat at the fighting game, having been playable characters in Super Smash Bros for Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS.

Capcom teased other characters, more of whom will be revealed throughout 2017 before the game debuts at the tail end of the year. The developer shared several single player modes, including Arcade, Training, and Missions, on the Capcom-Unity blog, plus a cinematic Story Mode where the heroes will battle against a mysterious new villain, all rendered by the immersive Unreal 4 Engine technology.

There will also be dynamic online and multiplayer features, including online lobbies and spectator modes. Players will also be able to take part in ranked games, or casual ones that do not affect their leader board status. The six Infinity Stones – power, space, time, reality, soul, and mind – will influence the game and force players to change their strategies, based on the power that they, or their opponent, wields.

Finally, Capcom confirmed that Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite is also in development for the PC and Xbox One.

Rumor: Marvel Vs Capcom 4 will be announced at PlayStation Experience 2016

capcomlogo

Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono recently told Famitsu that the company is planning to release new content for Street Fighter V through 2020. But the publisher might be ready to announce a new fighting game this weekend at the 2016 PlayStation Experience.

Polygon is reporting they’ve spoken to “multiple sources” that say Marvel Vs Capcom 4 will make its public debut this weekend and be released sometime in 2017. Their sources also revealed that Marvel will (unsurprisingly) limit the number of X-Men in the game. Instead, Marvel Vs Capcom 4 will feature a roster comprised mostly of characters that have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Fans of the series should expect Marvel vs. Capcom 4’s roster of Marvel characters to draw strongly from the cinematic universe that Marvel Studios has popularized — and has full control over — during the past decade. That means fighting game fans will more likely see characters plucked from The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy films, and not from properties like the X-Men. Expect to see superheroes like Ant-Man and Groot make appearances, with characters of mutant origin — think Wolverine and Magneto — sitting out this entry.

Polygon would go on to receive a standard “Capcom does not comment on rumors or speculation” statement from a Capcom spokesperson in connection to their report. However, Marvel’s Jay Ong hinted at the possibility of a fourth game in the crossover fighting franchise earlier this year during the E3 Expo. So it could be a very fun weekend for fans of Capcom’s fighting games.

The last game in the franchise, Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, was released in early 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
