PS Store This Week: Agents of Mayhem, Sonic Mania, Undertale, more
It may be Summertime outside, but you wouldn’t know it after this week’s PlayStation Store update.
Today’s biggest new release is Agents of Mayhem, a new open world game for the PS4 from Volition. Set within the same universe as the Saints Row series, Agents of Mayhem will attempt to parody the current crop of superhero films as well as Saturday morning cartoons from the 80s. If you’d prefer to build big, Paradox Interactive will bring Cities: Skylines to the PS4 this week. The city-building sim will allow players to “manage the city of [their] dreams” as they design and build their own metropolis.
Aksys Games will embiggen one of their games this week with a PS4 re-release for Zero Time Dilemma on Friday. Originally released for the Vita last year, this console-ready version of the game will include high definition graphics.
Sega is also going big this week… but they’re doing it by shrinking down. The publisher has enlisted a team of indie developers to create Sonic Mania, a new side-scroller for the PS4 that pays homage to Sonic’s past.
Speaking of indie developers, a slew of teams got the chance to make the PlayStation Store a cozier place this week. PS4 owners can look forward to finding Undertale (also on the Vita), Tokyo 42, Matterfall, Nidhogg 2, and Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition on the digital storefront.
Finally this week, Telltale will check in with Jesse and friends in Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 – Episode 2: Giant Consequences.
You can learn more about all of these titles (and a few other new releases) after the break. (more…)
Here’s the first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2’s second episode
Telltale Games has announced the adventures of Jesse and friend will continue in Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2‘s second episode next week. So now’s the perfect time to unveil the episode’s first trailer, which introduces players to The Admin and The Arena:
Jesse and the gang survived the Sea Temple, but they brought home a little more than they bargained for: a lost adventurer, a powerful device, and a colossal enemy capable of grinding Beacontown to dust. There may be more to this fearsome foe than meets the eye, but to find out, Jesse — together with a few trusty friends — must embark on another adventure, this time into the icy unknown…

Fans of Nintendo’s newest console will also be happy to learn that the Complete Adventure collection for the original Minecraft: Story Mode will be released for the Switch on August 22. The eight-episode series will be available in stores as a retail release and as a digital download through the Nintendo eShop.
Xbox Store Today: Minecraft Story Mode S2E1, Iron Crypticle, MotoGP 17, more
A quartet of new games are now available to download from the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox One…
We start things off with Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2, the latest episodic adventure series from Telltale Games. Season 2 picks up right where the first season left off, and Episode 1: Hero In Residence introduces a mysterious gauntlet for Jesse and friends to deal with, as well as an ancient underwater temple and “at least one” temperamental llama.
Speaking of creepy crypts, the developers at Confused Pelican and TikiPod will bring Iron Crypticle to the Xbox One today. It looks like the twin-stick shooter was inspired by Smash TV and Gauntlet, and it also features four-player cooperative gameplay and a feline shopkeeper that’s always one step ahead of you.
If you’re looking for tricky puzzles, Black the Fall from Sand Sailor Studio and Square Enix might be for you. Starring an old machinist toiling under an oppressive dictatorship, players will need to figure out a way to escape this dystopian nightmare.
Finally today, Milestone is back with another motorcycle racing sim for the Xbox One. MotoGP 17 includes all the bikes, teams, and tracks from the 2017 Championship season, as well as online play and a new cooperative mode.
You can learn more about all of these games after the break. (more…)
PS Store This Week: Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, Minecraft Story Mode Season 2, Serial Cleaner, more
We might be in the middle of the Summer gaming drought, but there are plenty of new releases available this week through the PlayStation Store.
Leading the way is a game that actually made its debut more than a decade ago. Originally released for the PS2 in 2006, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will feature enhanced graphics and sound on the PS4, as well as the Zodiac Job System that was only available in the RPG’s “International” edition.
Square Enix will also publish MotoGP 17 for the PS4 this week, which includes all the riders, teams, and tracks from the 2017 season.
A second epic tale will launch for the PS4 this week, as Telltale Games will release the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2. Jesse and friends return in Episode 1: Hero in Residence, but there’s no rest for the wicked, as a strange gauntlet has latched itself onto Jesse.
Finally this week, a trio of new indie games will provide some interesting new experiences for PS4 owners. Serial Cleaner is a 70s-set adventure about body disposal, Iron Crypticle is a Gauntlet/Smash TV hybrid, and Mr. Shifty features a teleporting thief.
More information about all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)
Here’s the first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2
Just before this year’s E3 Expo, Telltale announced the first episode from Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 would be available on July 11. Today, the developer unveiled the first trailer for Episode 1: Hero in Residence (as well as Jesse’s heretofore unseen “rival”)…
Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more…complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade — at least until Jesse’s hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama.
All five episodes from Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 will be available to download for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices over the next few months. PS4 and Xbox One players will also get the chance to pick up the game in a retail disc version, which is set to launch this Fall.
