Kombat Pack 2 will add Rambo, Rain, and Mileena to Mortal Kombat 11
“Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don’t turn it off!”
Rambo has been waging his own personal war on the silver screen for almost 40 years, but he’ll take the fight to Mortal Kombat 11 this Fall thanks to his inclusion in the game’s next expansion. Fully voiced by Sylvester Stallone, Rambo’s appearance in Kombat Pack 2 will be flanked by two additional kombatants… franchise favorites Mileena and Rain.
In addition to confirming the existence of a second Kombat Pack, WB Games and NetherRealm Studios also announced that Mortal Kombat 11 is in development for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The new package will be known as Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and it’ll include all previously-released content, as well as “4K dynamic resolution, enhanced visuals, improved loading times, and cross-generation console compatibility for select mode.” Thankfully, if you already own Mortal Kombat 11 for the PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game.
But if you’re not ready to make the generational jump just yet, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will also be available for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
Kombat Pack 2 and Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will be released on November 17. In the meantime, be sure to check out the DLC’s first trailer, which has been embedded above.
Copyright notice seemingly confirms Evil Dead’s Ash will be included in Mortal Kombat 11’s next Kombat Pack
Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up!
Even though Bruce Campbell told the Twitterverse that Ash from The Evil Dead wouldn’t be appearing in Mortal Kombat 11, it appears that NetherRealm Studios has other plans. IGN is reporting that a recent email newsletter from the developer included a copyright notice for Ash in the footer, alongside similar copyright information for The Terminator, The Joker, and Spawn:
You’ll notice that the notice specifically mentions the inclusion of “Ash from Army of Darkness,” so we can look forward to seeing the character in his S-Mart garb while gassing up a chainsaw. However, Campbell’s earlier denial could mean that we’re also looking at a soundalike, similar to how Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t provide the vocal performance for the T-800.
NetherRealm Studios concluded Mortal Kombat 11’s first Kombat Pack earlier this month with the launch of Spawn, and while they’ve hinted at a desire to release more characters, Kombat Pack 2 remains unannounced as of today.
Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available for the PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. I have no doubt we’ll be hearing more about NetherRealm’s future plans for the game very soon.
Mortal Kombat 11 goes to Hell with Spawn beginning on March 17
Real-life kombatants gathered in Chicago this weekend to compete in NetherRealm Studios’s Final Kombat tournament for Mortal Kombat 11, but the developer had a prize for all of us. NetherRealm used the event to give fans their first look at Spawn, the final fighter set to be included as part of Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack.
Spawn will be voiced by the incomparable Keith David, and his chains and cape will play a big part in his moveset. The demonic character also packs a heavy punch and his use of gadgets gives off a vibe similar to Injustice 2‘s Batman. You can see Todd McFarlane’s creation square off against Scorpion and Erron Black in the new trailer embedded above.
Kombat Pack owners will be able to download Spawn beginning on March 17, while those of us who plan to purchase him as a standalone download will have to wait until March 24.
In addition to his Mortal Kombat 11 debut, Spawn will also inspire Jacqui Briggs’s new “Hellspawn” Skin, and the Matinee Skin Pack will transform existing characters Kotal Kahn, Erron Black, and Jacqui Briggs into “Osh Tekk Vandal” (Conan the Barbarian), “Swashbuckler” (Indiana Jones), and “Space Marine” (Ripley).
Finally, congratulations to Dominique “SonicFox” McLean on their nearly flawless victory in the Final Kombat tournament.
Get your first look at The Joker’s Mortal Kombat 11 appearance in this new trailer
With the most nominations in the field, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is heading into this year’s Oscars as the odds-on favorite for “Best Picture.” But the character always has something else in his bag of tricks, and earlier today, NetherRealm Studios unveiled the first trailer for The Joker’s upcoming appearance in Mortal Kombat 11.
Like his appearances in the Injustice franchise, The Joker’s latest incarnation looks to be an agile fighter who carries around a crowbar and a set of comically-large boxing gloves. But The Joker always wants to leave ’em laughing, so it’s fitting that he also has one of the best Fatalities I’ve ever seen.
The Joker will be available for Kombat Pack owners on January 28, with a full release scheduled for February 4. He’ll launch alongside the DC Elseworlds Skin Pack, which includes DC-inspired Skins for Noob Saibot (The Batman Who Laughs), Baraka (Killer Croc), and Kitana (Catwoman). A separately-available “Time Lord of Apokolips” Skin will also transform Geras into the spitting image of Darkseid.
Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available for the PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
Sindel will be added to Mortal Kombat 11 later this month
Sindel will strut her way into Mortal Kombat 11 later this month, but a Queen requires a proper entrance, and so NetherRealm Studios unveiled a brand new Gameplay Trailer for the character earlier today.
Sindel still serves Quan Chi as one of his revenants in Mortal Kombat 11, and as you might have guessed, her moveset features plenty of hair-raising attacks, as well as her debilitating Banshee Scream. You can see her in action in the video embedded above (be sure to stick around for a pretty gruesome Fatality at the end).
Mortal Kombat 11 players who have purchased the Kombat Pack will receive access to Sindel (as well as the Gothic Horror Skin Pack and a Klassic Cassie Cage Skin) on November 26. All other players will be able to purchase the character as a standalone download beginning a week later on December 3.
Data from Mortal Kombat 11’s first six months includes more than 205 million hours played
Mortal Kombat 11 was released roughly six months ago, and in that time it’s become one of the most popular games of 2019. To celebrate, NetherRealm Studios decided to share the data they’ve collected to sheds a little more light on how people play the game.
The big number that everyone will probably be talking about is the total number of hours that fans have sunk into the game… which is 205,262,299 hours. That is an astonishing amount of time to kill, and while every character undoubtedly has their fans, the three that have been picked the most are Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Noob Saibot. However, players preferred Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Liu Kang in Ranked Play.
Scorpion has the most wins, and the spectre is likely responsible for a lot of the 346,522,493 Fatalities that have been performed by players (though he’s also the character who’s most often on the receiving end of a “Finish Him!”). And that’s to say nothing of the 65,779,473 Flawless Victories that have been tallied.
You can find even more sanguine statistics for Mortal Kombat 11 in the video embedded above.
See The Terminator deliver a cybernetic smackdown in Mortal Kombat 11
The Mortal Kombat franchise is just rife with cyborgs (and humans with cybernetic enhancements), but it’ll soon welcome the original killer cyborg into the fold as Kombat Pack owners will be able to download Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11 on October 8.
This new trailer gives us a glimpse at The Terminator’s powerful punches, as well as his personal Time Displacement Sphere (that acts as a teleporter), and the exploding power pack from Terminator 3. But this T-800 pulls most of his moves from The Terminator and Terminator 2, including a preference for a shotgun and the ability to keep fighting as just an endoskeleton after being exposed to fire.
All Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to purchase the standalone version of The Terminator beginning on October 15, and don’t forget, Terminator: Dark Fate (starring Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong) opens in theaters on November 1.
The Terminator and The Joker are the final two additions to Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack
We already knew that Bruce Campbell’s Ash wasn’t going to be invited to the party, but that didn’t stop NetherRealm Studios from confirming the final two guest characters for Mortal Kombat 11‘s Kombat Pack this morning. As expected, both The Terminator and The Joker will be joining the fight in the coming months.
If you’d like a more exact release schedule than that for Mortal Kombat 11’s remaining DLC, then you’re in luck, because NetherRealm’s got you covered. The Terminator will be available to download on October 8, and he’ll be followed by Sindel on November 26, The Joker on January 28, and Spawn on March 17. A short trailer introducing each guest character has been embedded above.
While NetherRealm has yet to announce any additional DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 beyond the six characters featured in the Kombat Pack, there might be plans for more. The roster page on the game’s official website currently shows two extra slots. We don’t know who will fill them, but maybe Ash isn’t quite as out as we thought.
