Mortal Kombat fans are decidedly mixed on most of the new fighters that were introduced in Mortal Kombat 3. But Nightwolf has managed to become something of a fan favorite over the years, and according to NetherRealm Studios, his addition to Mortal Kombat 11 is right around the corner.

The developer dropped a new Gameplay Trailer for the Matoka warrior today, and it gives players a closer look at his arsenal of weaponry, as well as his mastery of lightning and a trio of spirit animals:

Born as Grey Cloud, Nightwolf is a proud and fierce warrior dedicated to the cause of good and chosen by the Great Spirit to become the Matoka tribe’s champion and protector.

Kombat Pack owners on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One will be able to download Nightwolf beginning on August 13. All other Mortal Kombat 11 players will get their chance to select the fighter a week later as a standalone purchase for $5.99.

Since the launch of Mortal Kombat in 2009, NetherRealm Studios has been packing their fighting games with a bevy of post-launch content, and that will not change now that Mortal Kombat 11 is available on store shelves. The developer unveiled the contents of the Kombat Pack today, giving fans a closer look at Shang Tsung, and confirming that Nightwolf, Sindel, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, and two more guest characters will be added to the game later this year.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa memorably portrayed Shang Tsung in 1995’s Mortal Kombat movie (and the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webseries), and NetherRealm has given him the chance to reprise the role in Mortal Kombat 11. Hearing Tagawa bellow “Your soul is mine!” at the end of the expansion’s trailer was thrilling.

But before that, we got to see the sorcerer put on quite the show, morphing into multiple ninja characters (Rain, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Reptile, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion) and flinging fireballs with abandon. It appears that Shang Tsung is also able to use his magic to temporarily turn a fight into a mirror match. Oh, and stick around for his Fatality, it’s a good one.

Shang Tsung will be available to download on June 18, and he’ll be followed by Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn. The two remaining guest characters are currently a mystery, though SOMEBODY is revving a chainsaw at the end of this trailer and I’d like to believe it’s Bruce Campbell as Ash.

The latest game in the long-running Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 11, made its way onto store shelves in late April, but we got a possible peak at the game’s upcoming downloadable characters shortly after it launched thanks to dataminers over at Reddit. At the time, the game’s code pointed towards the addition of series stalwarts Fujin, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, Sheeva, and Sindel down the road, as well as guest characters The Joker, The Terminator, Spawn, and Evil Dead‘s Ash.

However, Bruce Campbell creatively debunked the rumor on Twitter earlier this week. According to the actor (who has starred in three Evil Dead movies and the recently-concluded Ash Vs Evil Dead cable series), he won’t be appearing in the game as Ash:

This is disappointing news (and it throws the rest of the DLC slate into question), but I guess Evil Dead fans will just have to be content with the character’s recent addition to Dead By Daylight.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to dig out my copy of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and perform a few Fatalities with my Kreate-A-Fighter version of Ash.

Mortal Kombat 11‘s launch is less than a week away and now NetherRealm Studios has capped their months-long media barrage with a new Launch Trailer that teases the epic events ahead. Promising massive battles and multiple versions of your favorite characters, the time-hopping two minutes of this trailer are a must watch for all fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise.

NetherRealm Studios has been busy stacking Mortal Kombat 11‘s roster with plenty of returning fan favorites, but the developer has also been hard at work adding several new characters to the game. And just today they revealed The Collector, yet another new enforcer for Shao Kahn.

Nah, I’m just kidding. He’s actually known as “The Kollector” (because, of course he is).

Kollector is a four-armed beast similar to Goro and Sheeva, but with a more slimmed down and Gollum-like appearance. The comparison to Tolkien’s creation is particularly apt as Kollector claims that his purpose is to collect “blood and gold” for Shao Kahn. You can see just how he goes about this mission in the new trailer embedded above, and be on the lookout for his absolutely vicious Fatality at the end.

Fresh off the heels of a Story Trailer that reintroduced Erron Black, Jacqui Briggs, and Cassie Cage to the Mortal Kombat mythos, NetherRealm Studios has uploaded a new Reveal Trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 focusing solely on Johnny and Sonya’s daughter.

Accompanied by a Battle Drone (and a pair of fully-loaded pistols), Cassie delivers a beating to Kano that includes a Shadow Kick, a Split Punch, and an absolutely insane new Fatality.
