Mortal Kombat 11’s newest Story Trailer reintroduces Erron Black, Cassie Cage, and Jacqui Briggs
“I’ve been in the future for a whole hour and I haven’t seen one jetpack. Not one.”
It’s official… Johnny Cage is a national treasure. A younger version of the movie star takes center stage in the latest Story Trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, while also reintroducing fans to a trio of returning fighters (Erron Black, Cassie Cage, and Jacqui Briggs) from Mortal Kombat X.
Beyond the new characters, the trailer features an epic scope and an all-out war between Earthrealm’s mightiest heroes, Kronika’s time-displaced warriors, Liu Kang’s army of revenants, and Raiden’s evil alter-ego. Can it be April already?
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23.
NetherRealm announces the next fighter coming to Mortal Kombat 11… Johnny Cage
Mortal Kombat 11 is heading to Hollywood! Thanks to an exclusive new video from IGN, we’ve learned that Johnny Cage will join the game’s roster at launch.
Fans of the flamboyant actor/martial artist will be pleased to see that his Shadow Kick and Shadow Uppercut will both be available in Mortal Kombat 11, as will a variety of Fireball attacks. He’s also got an amazing Fatality that just might be a callback to one of Mortal Kombat II‘s finest glitches.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23.
Mortal Kombat 11 goes green as Jade is revealed as the next playable character by NetherRealm Studios
Jade is one of the Mortal Kombat franchise’s most popular characters, but she did not emerge from 2011’s Mortal Kombat unscathed. The Outworld spy was murdered by Sindel and eventually resurrected by Quan Chi as one of his “Revenants.” Though she still wields her bo staff, this is the version of Jade that’ll return in Mortal Kombat 11. A new trailer reintroducing Jade into the Mortal Kombat universe has been embedded above:
Now resurrected by an evil sorcerer, she serves the Netherrealm as an undead Revenant. Death hasn’t slowed Jade down, though. She still thrashes her enemies with her bo staff, razorrang, and patronizing put-downs.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23.
NetherRealm adds Kabal and D’vorah to Mortal Kombat 11’s roster; Scooby-Doo’s Shaggy is officially out
Kabal’s hookswords and post-apocalyptic appearance made him one of the most popular characters to emerge from Mortal Kombat 3, and now the character is all set to return in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11.
Known for his lightning fast speed, deadly Hook Swords and reliance on an artificial respirator for survival, Kabal was resurrected as a twisted, evil version of himself, who now serves the Netherrealm and pledges to destroy all other realms.
This new (and less cuddly) incarnation of the character was first revealed during the latest episode of NetherRealm’s Kombat Kast, with the behind-the-scenes stream giving fans a glimpse at his moveset, a Fatality, and a few costume changes (including one without his signature mask). Kabal’s Reveal Trailer has been embedded above, and the full Kombat Kast episode can be found on YouTube.
Community Manager Tyler Lansdown also put the kibosh on Shaggy’s hoped-for appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 during this episode of Kombat Kast. After axing the Scooby-Doo character, he said, “Shaggy will not be in the game, ever. Sorry.”
Later, the Mortal Kombat 11 team would also konfirm (via Twitter) that D’Vorah, an insectoid warrior first introduced in Mortal Kombat X, will return in Mortal Kombat 11.
Mortal Kombat 11 is currently in development at NetherRealm Studios and will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23.
NetherRealm konfirms that Kano will appear in Mortal Kombat 11
Mortal Kombat fans, lend me your ears…
Kano, the leader of the Black Dragon Clan and nemesis to Sonya Blade, will be joining Mortal Kombat 11 as a playable character. NetherRealm Studios delivered the news yesterday via Twitter, likely in lieu of Wednesday’s canceled Kombat Kast stream. The polar vortex hit Chicago particularly hard and the developer moved the broadcast for the “safety of [their] team.”
Greed personified.

Mortal Kombat 11’s first Kombat Kast will now be held on Tuesday, February 5, at 4:00 PM (Eastern Time), and we’ll likely learn more about the game’s roster then.
And don’t forget, Mortal Kombat 11’s launch is coming up very soon after that. It’ll be available for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23.
Ed Boon responds (in typical Ed Boon fashion) to a fan petition asking to add Scooby Doo’s Shaggy to Mortal Kombat 11
Did you know that Scooby Doo’s pal Shaggy has godlike powers? It’s one of the stranger memes currently circulating around the Internet (even Matthew Lilliard is somehow involved), and Mortal Kombat fans recently took it one step further by asking NetherRealm Studios to add the mystery-solving teen to the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11.
The Change.org petition has more than 165,000 signatures as of this writing, and it even prompted a response from Ed Boon, NetherRealm’s Creative Director. But in typical fashion for Boon, the developer spent the day teasing his fans about Shaggy’s possible inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11 on Twitter.
First, he sarcastically told his followers that it wasn’t happening (“Let me know how that works out for you…“). But he followed that up a few hours later with a second tweet that hinted Shaggy might make it into the game after all.
Mortal Kombat and Scooby Doo both live under the vast corporate umbrella of Warner Bros., so Shaggy could easily be added to the blood-soaked series if the right executives signed off on it. But while it’s unlikely that Warner Bros. would want one of their family-friendly characters fighting for his life in the game, it wouldn’t be first time Shaggy was involved in a more adult adventure. DC Comics’s Scooby Apocalypse series is absolutely drenched in blood and gore, so that version of Shaggy would be right at home in Mortal Kombat 11.
The comic also features a cybernetically-enhanced Scrappy Doo and a dream sequence where Velma becomes the bikini-clad “Monster Queen”… it’s a weird book.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23. I have my doubts that Shaggy will make the cut, but nothing seems to be impossible for NetherRealm Studios.
NetherRealm officially reveals a ton of new trailers and information about Mortal Kombat 11
Today was the day. NetherRealm Studios officially pulled back the blood-soaked curtain on Mortal Kombat 11 in a massive livestream that featured a ton of new information and a handful of new trailers.
You might be disappointed if you were expecting something radically different from the eleventh game in the long-running series, but fans of the franchise got exactly what they wanted out of this first look at Mortal Kombat 11. That includes a “time-bending” new storyline that picks up directly where Mortal Kombat X left off, as well as a glimpse at some gruesome new Fatalities, seven confirmed kombatants (Baraka, Raiden, Skarlet, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, and new fighter Geras), and an Injustice-inspired Gear System:
The Story Mode [is an] all-new, time-bending narrative, featuring Kronika, the first female boss character in Mortal Kombat history, who is the Keeper of Time and creator of existence. New fighter Geras [is] a powerful and loyal servant of Kronika, who is able to manipulate time.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on April 23. PS4 and Xbox One owners who pre-order the game will receive access to a Private Beta that begins on March 28, and players who pre-order the game on any platform will be able to play as Shao Kahn at launch.
Seven new trailers for Mortal Kombat 11 can be found after the break, including Reveal Trailers for Geras and Sonya Blade (who will be voiced by WWE’s Ronda Rousey), a Story Trailer, a Gameplay Trailer, a Fatalities Trailer, a walkthrough for the new Gear System, and a Behind-The-Scenes Trailer filmed at NetherRealm. Who is the new character in Mortal Kombat 11’s New Year’s teaser?
Mortal Kombat fans have been speculating about the possibility of time travel shenanigans in Mortal Kombat 11 ever since the fighter’s Announcement Trailer at the 2018 Game Awards featured a pair of Scorpions and a brief glimpse at a mysterious woman standing in front of a giant hourglass. Ed Boon and company gave us a closer look at this new character yesterday as they were counting down to New Year’s Day on Twitter:

Is she a playable character? If so, who is she? And if not, what role will she play in Mortal Kombat 11’s storyline and the stalemate between “Evil” Liu Kang and “Evil” Raiden?
Thankfully, we won’t have much longer to wait for answers to these questions as NetherRealm Studios is planning a “Community Reveal Event” for Mortal Kombat 11 on January 17. And the fighting game will launch shortly after that on April 23 for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
