Unravel, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, Firewatch, and a lot more added to PS Store

unravel-header

EA’s adorable Yarny will make his video game debut on the PlayStation Store this week with the PS4 release of Unravel. The puzzle platformer has captivated the gaming public since its unveiling during last year’s E3 Expo, and it’ll be interesting to see what the megapublisher does with a lower-key superstar like Yarny.

A number of other titles are also now available to download this week including Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, Ubisoft’s third (and final) side-scrolling spinoff in the Assassin’s Creed series; Firewatch, a first-person adventure about a fire lookout and the woman on the other end of his radio; and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Bandai Namco’s newest game based on the popular anime.

Finally this week, a pair of re-releases will give gamers another shot at a game they may have missed before. Techland will relaunch Dying Light as Dying Light: The Following — Enhanced Edition, which includes the original game and every downloadable expansion released in the past year. Vertex Pop’s We Are Doomed will also get a re-release this week on the PS Vita after launching on the PS4 last year. And it’s Cross-Buy compatible, so if you bought the PS4 version last year, you can grab the portable version for free.

More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And, as always, a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

New Releases: Unravel, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles, Dying Light: The Following, More

Cute dolls, colorful assassins, and parkouring zombies highlight this week’s new release roundup.

After making a huge splash at last year’s E3 Expo, EA is ready to unleash Yarny on the world in Coldwood’s Unravel (PC, PS4, Xbox One). Using a combination of puzzle-solving and platforming, Yarny will navigate the harsh world (especially for a four-inch high yarn doll) to find out who’s on the other end of his string.

Another colorful platforming adventure will make its way onto store shelves this week as Ubisoft will bundle together all three Assassin’s Creed Chronicles games into a single collection. Players will be able to do battle with the Templars in three never-before-seen locales and time periods: China, India, and Russia.

Bandai Namco has a colorful new game of their own ready for release this week as Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, the latest game based on the pretty popular anime, will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Deep Silver will re-release Dying Light this week in a special Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition (PS4, Xbox One), which includes the original game and all four expansions (“Be the Zombie,” “Ultimate Survivor Bundle,” “The Bozak Horde,” and “The Following”).

Finally, Microsoft will launch their Xbox One 500GB “Name Your Game” Bundle, which lets prospective players choose from Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Rare Replay when they purchase an Xbox One system.

A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)

New Releases: XCOM 2, Gravity Rush Remastered, Megadimension Neptunia VII, More

newreleases020216

Are you ready to save the world soldier? This week’s new release report kicks off with XCOM 2, a PC-exclusive sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Things didn’t go so well for humanity after the end of that game and the aliens took over everything. So it’s up to you, and a merry band of rebels, to ignite a worldwide revolution and take back the Earth. Dismissed!

Also available this week is Gravity Rush Remastered, a PS4 remake of a Vita adventure first released in 2012. Players will take control of Kat, a woman who can manipulate gravity, to save the world from an invading force.

The remainder of this week’s new releases feature a quintet of titles that is each more Japanese than the last…

For example, did you know that Idea Factory has produced six games in their Hyperdimension Neptunia series? The seventh game in the series, Megadimension Neptunia VII, will be released for the PS4 this week. The RPG franchise will actually be making the jump to the PS4 for the first time, and players will be asked to save “Gamindustri” once again.

Nitroplus is a popular producer of visual novels in Japan, and the company recently teamed up with developer Examu and publisher Marvelous to bring their many characters together in a fighting game known as Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel. It’ll be released for the PS4 this week.

Similar to the Go-Bots/Transformers split, the Digimon series has always existed as a budget-priced alternative to Pokemon, but the venerable franchise keeps trucking along and that includes the latest entry, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. Available next week for the PS4, players attempt to take down a band of hackers in cyberspace with the help of their Digimon companions.

Speaking of popular anime franchises, Bandai Namco will release Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 for the PC this week. The latest game starring the foxy ninja (and I mean that literally, the main character is part fox) will also be available for the PS4 and Xbox One next week.

Finally this week, Bandai Namco will also release Tales of Symphonia for the PC. Originally released for the GameCube in 2003, Symphonia will be one of the first games in the Tales series to make its PC debut.

After 700 volumes, the final entry in the Naruto manga series was released last month. And they’ve just announced that Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2015.

You can get a small taste of Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 in the trailer above or you can hit the jump to view an interview Bandai Namco conducted with CyberConnect2’s Hiroshi Matsuyama, the Director of the game series. (more…)
